Weekly Lost & Found

This is the home for lost and found around Tacoma, refreshed every week. If you've lost something or come across something that isn't yours, drop a comment below.

A few things that help:

  • Say whether you lost or found the item, and lead with what it is.
  • Add the rough area and the day, as much as you're comfortable sharing.
  • For anything with a serial number or other identifying detail, hold that back in your public comment and trade it over DM once someone reaches out, so the real owner can prove it's theirs.

Lost or found a pet? we recommend posting in r/LostPetsTacoma too, but you’re welcome to post in this thread as well.

For everyone's safety, please be smart about meeting people from the internet.

Comb through the comments before posting in case your item is already here. Good luck, and thanks for looking out for each other.

Drive by sexual harassment - man jerking off in car near schools

⚠️this person was a random dude driving past on the road. This was not anyone affiliated with any business. Locations are for spatial context only. The person was the SILVER TOYOTA.⚠️

While working today and walking from the 38th st laundromat to the Splash-N-Dash on S 38th St my coworker and I had a man repeatedly drive past us (going west) while exposing himself and jerking off in his car. He would slow down and drive past us while doing this. This was repeated 5x as we walked down the road. This occurred from 3:31 -4:00 pm on July 27.

This has been reported to the police and I have had them contact me. If anyone has any additional information please reach out to report this person.

Since he circled us 5x we were able to get some photos and videos. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to catch his license plate since he had no front plate and a plate cover.

His vehicle is a beat up 2000’s silver Toyota, with a Titus front plate frame. He was an African American man in his late 20’s average build and height, and wore a white tee. He also had a medical mask on, and no pants.

The shitty part was that there are multiple schools around here. I hope this man is caught before he exposes himself to a child. You can even see in the first photo he has his legs up exposing himself.

Clarification regarding City of Tacoma job application response

Post image
39 Upvotes

TL;DR - Can anyone with actual personal insight in the hiring process with the city of Tacoma offer any clarity regarding what the email means?

Hey!

I recently applied for a job with the City of Tacoma.

Last week, I recieved an email inviting me to take an online test to determine if I'm a potential candidate. I took the test and, evidently, I passed.

Today, I received the email shown in the attached photo.

My question is, is the email saying that I'm NOT in the running for the job that I applied for, but I will still be considered eligible for potential future positions?

Or is it saying that I AM still in the running for this job, AND I'll also be considered for possible future jobs?

Bonus points to anyone who can explain the whole "rank" system.

Thanks in advance for any help that you might be able to offer.

TPU scam going around

Just thought I’d share a scam that I just found. This afternoon I got a voicemail and calls from a very real sounding person saying they were from Tacoma Public Utilities. They had my address and name and everything. They said they were going to turn off my power unless I paid them a specific amount due to delinquency. That wasn’t possible and when I asked for the account number he had he got really aggressive and then hung up on me.

I’m pretty savvy and even still they had me checking my account and trying to figure out what happened before I figured it out. Wanted others to know in case they are targeting folks around town.

The son of a Tacoma pastor admitted to raping multiple kids, one as young as age 5, and he got released with no bail?

Multiple victims came forward about being raped by this guy in the 90's and 2000's. Church leaders sit down with him and he admits to the rape. Kids that were like 5 years old, 8 years old. And he doesn't even have to post bail?

I know it's always a local political hot topic on Nextdoor/Facebook to be like "those liberal judges just keep putting criminals back on the street every time they get arrested!" and that's not at all the sentiment I'm going for here. I'm only specifically talking about this one case.

How can you rape a 5 year old and just be told to go ahead and head on back home where you're comfortable? Does this local church have that much pull with law enforcement or something?

Street repair ballot measure

Good morning folks,

As you may have read in your voter’s pamphlet, one of the items on your Primary Ballot this year is Prop 1, which restores previously-voter approved funding for street repair.

Here’s more info from city website:

https://tacoma.gov/government/departments/public-works/connect-tacoma-safe-streets-and-sidewalks/

Happy to answer any other questions. For more technical questions, I will consult with city staff before answering, but will endeavor to get answers as quickly as I can.

Looking forward to your inquires.

Select irrigation shut off at Parks Tacoma?

I noticed along the Ruston waterfront almost all the grass is brown and those beautiful canopy maples are stressed and some leaves are turning brown and falling early in July from no irrigation. It’s early in the summer and I am worried the trees will be permanently damaged if the water isn’t turned on. Does anyone know what’s up? I remember previous years the beautiful green grass for picnics along the waterfront and parks crew freshly mowing it in the mornings on my walks. I also noticed closer to my home on the Foss Waterway/Dock Street that all the irrigation is off at the 21st Street Park/George Weyerhaeuser Park as well with all the grass brown and landscaping being severely stressed. It was always watered as long as I have lived here since 2014 and I worry that watering our beautiful plants and parks was cut in the Parks Tacoma budget with all the Parks Tacoma budget shortfalls. If anyone knows what’s going on please fill us in. Much appreciated my fellow Tacomaians.

The Snug

Was driving through Proctor district earlier and the wife spotted The Snug with a Coming Soon sign but looked closed. The info about this place via Google is pretty scarce past 2024.

Did this place open and close already? Is it still planning on opening?

Indoor Cat - Pet License Fees

I have an indoor cat I bought a year ago at the Humane Society. They registered the cat with Pierce County at the time and I paid the fee happily.

Since it's now been a year the city has emailed me a few times regarding my annual pet fee for my indoor cat, I'm not paying a fucking indoor cat tax.

They're threatening to increase the fees. I'm worried this will go to collections and destroy my credit score - do you guys just pay annual animal fees? Can I ignore it? What exactly are my options here?
