This was not an intentional combo. The boobie cactus went into a pot of soil that I thought was clear. Two months later an Alocasia that I killed off years ago popped up in the same pot, fighting its way through the stones covering the soil. How long this partnership will last, I do not know. Everything about it is wrong, but feels so right.

Started with 20 seeds last October. The survivors, all 12 of them, have been through a full apartment tour. The balcony has strong morning sun but the wind up here beats baby fronds around. Inside is calm but the air just sits there and the light drops off hard. Every option failed a different test.

I measured (19k lux out on the balcony, 6k by the window), diagnosed, and gave up on finding the right spot. Built it instead: the bright corner inside, plus a small grow light for the light gap and a tiny fan for the dead air. They finally started growing steady, and I finally stopped hauling twelve pots around this apartment.

Anyone else end up building a spot because nothing natural worked?

I know it's not perfect but it was my first plant that I've grown with zero experience, I just bought seeds from Organo, threw them in the ground, and watered them.

Hi I’m new to this whole gardening thing but I was curious how I’m doing?

I recently bought the led lamp and humidifier. I have 3 Alocasia, one monstera, 2 Dieffenbachia Camille’s (the only ones in soil), 2 Anthuriums, and 1 Avocado seed.

I’m having a difficult time with my
Anthuriums sadly, and then my Alocasia corm (the one that isn’t producing any leaves) is getting use to the water environment and focusing on growing its roots, none of which are experiencing rot. However my other two baby Alocasias that I grew are thriving! I think lol.

Is this 2 plants? Should I separate them? Please advise!! I want them to go up instead of to the sides

Hello friends, I've had this Betel Leaf plant for about 9 months now, and mostly it's been fine.

However, I noticed there is brown debris on the underside of the leaves. This has been a consistent issue for the past 9 months. The leaves are a bit scorched, but that's only because I accidentally left it in full sun too long. There are also white drops under the leaves and on the stems; I think these are a sign of excess moisture.

My concerns are the brown bits under the leaves. They must be pest related because they always come back, even when I wash the plant with water. They have to be droppings right? But there's no obvious plant damage I can see on the leaves, no munched bits or anything (besides the scorch).

Anyone have any ideas? I keep this by my other house plants like Bay Leaf and Pothos but those don't have the same issues at all.

Lots of stem beneath the soil of new pothos. Input?

Kind of hard to show in photos.
So I’m repotting a marble queen that was sold in a pot that was way too big/ hydrophobic soil.
I know big pots are often just filled with rooted cuttings to make the plant look full and mature. There’s quite a lot of roots but they are all coming out of stems of various lengths and some of the stems were 3+inches beneath the soil, with the roots coming out higher up the stem closer to the soil or in the middle.
From what I know, we don’t want tons of bare stem beneath because of rot risk?

Should I trim bare stems where I can or should I separate them into groups with similarly placed roots height wise, Or leave be.
If I keep the whole root ball together then some of the bare stems will have to be buried otherwise those ones roots will be above the soil line.

What should I do here? The plant is getting a bit too big and is reaching out into the room, it’s a bit difficult to find a good spot in the house when it’s this big. Should I cut the erroneous I roots I coming down and also the large leaf to the right?

Two months ago a got this Benghalensis Audrey and repot it to this big clay

I put it close to a south window with not much lightning and in a few days it started dropping its leaves, it got yellow before dropping

I watered it once a week and was not watering it much (autumn winter)

Now I also moved it to a more north window with some sun light in the early morning, but it keep getting yellow leaves and dropping

I have 3 suggestion for it but I am really afraid of losing and killing my plant

1 - it is getting bad lightning
2 - I repot it to a much bigger pot, in third picture you can see the pot it came
3 - it’s a normal stress after repotting and not serious is happening..

Can you help?

I love Musa since I discovered them. I tried it with a yellow variegated aurea (on the pic is my plant), which was very expensive, but it died (stem rot). Then I tried a 'pink dwarf' velutina, but it also died. I figured I might have overwatered them.

So I wanted to start over. I plan on using semi hydro, as I've had good experience with that, watering wise.

Now I could get a new aurea, which is the ultimate goal, but I figured I might want to try a cheaper one in semi hydro first and when that thrives, only then go for another expensive aurea.

Which Musa do you recommend for absolute newbies? Which is easy, likes the indoors and can go well in semi hydro? Would the Florida white variegated one be easier than the yellow variegated aurea? Or is there a solid green colored one which is even easier?
