Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question Received a 2645C

Upvotes

I paper filed my 2022 Tax return this past April in order to meet the deadline to not forfeit my refund. I haven’t heard back but when calling to schedule an appointment at a physical location to speak with an IRS agent, they informed me that I received a 2645C (to my old address). I finally got ahold of it and it basically just tells me that they need additional time to review. I want to note that I accidentally sent my tax return to the Fresno location (supposed to be to Ogden, UT since I live in California).

1) Does this basically confirm they have my tax return? (I was worried that sending it to the Fresno location, which was the former address, was going to be an issue)

2) Typically is it an alarming sign that they need more time? I had a lot of various crypto gains and losses and took me forever to fill out the right forms to document it all.

General Question As of Date

Post image

I know the “As of Date” on the transcript doesn’t mean nothing much. But my as of date was 7-13-2026. And I haven’t had any updates since. This is for my 2023 amended return. Any idea as to why that date hasn’t changed??

General Question Calling IRS business Unit

Upvotes

I need to talk to the IRS business unit about an estate income tax issue. I am on the west coast. Every time I call them, the automated system just tells me to call back another time. It doesn't offer to put me on hold or call me back.

Due to my work, I can't call them until after 10am in the morning.

Anyone has suggestions for me to reach a live person there? Thanks.

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question IRS Refund 2026

Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I really need some help or at least someone share their experience so far from this tax season.

I have been waiting for my tax refund to hit since Mar/Apr of this year and i have not received any updates whatsoever. Before June i was able to access my transcripts for previous tax years but once it was updated with my « 2025 Verification of Non-Filing Letter » i was no longer able to see any transcripts even though my taxes have already been filed. I dont owe the IRS any money because i have an account balance of $0 and i have also never received any letters from the IRS about owing them. Furthermore i haven’t received any letters from them wanting to verify my identity or anything.

Could someone please offer me some assistance as I am desperately trying to figure out my situation

Previous Years/ IRS Collections & Back Taxes IRS Amended return letter came confirming approval 2 months ago but was never paid. Can’t get a hold of anyone at the IRS. Help?

I submitted an amended return for 2022 and am owed a large return (5 figures) from the IRS. I received a letter on May 25 confirming that the amended return was accepted and to expect payment in 2-3 weeks. It’s been 2 months and no payment - I’ve been trying to call the number on my letter as well as other numbers I’ve found online but I can never get through to anyone and then it hangs up.

Has anyone experienced this? Any tips on what I should do next?

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question IRS Refund Delayed for Almost 3 Months After Updating Wrong Routing Number

I never received my refund. I received a letter stating that I had provided the wrong routing number, so I logged in through ID.me and the IRS website and updated my information. It has now been almost three months, and there have been no further updates.
I have also been trying to reach the office by phone for the past two weeks. I call every day, but each time I am told that due to high call volumes, they are unable to take my call and that I should try again the next day.
The website shows that my new banking information was successfully submitted and says to allow 2-5 days for processing, but I have now been waiting for almost three months. I have also moved to another state since then, so I am concerned that they may decide to mail me a check instead of issuing the refund electronically and that I may not receive it at my new address. I did sign up for mail forwarding, but I am still worried about the possibility of the check being sent to my old address.
Has anyone experienced something similar or know what I should do next? How do I get my refund?

General Question IRS Tax Fraud

Beyond reporting a person to the IRS for tax fraud via their website, is there anything else you can do to help have them reviewed and audited?

I am not looking for advice on if you should or should not report someone. These are highly extenuating circumstances and I would not be taking these steps if not absolutely necessary. Thank you!

Can anyone provide advice regarding next steps? The notice I received on 5/18 stated to allow for 60 days following receipt. Not sure what the best move is. I called the IRS prior to receiving the notice and they were not very helpful.

Tax Question Anyone still out there with a LTR 12C/Form 5695 Issue?

Hi-- just curious if anyone is still waiting on a refund after receiving a LTR 12C for a missing/incomplete Form 5695 (energy credit)-- the known issue the IRS has with certain manufacturer (QMIN) codes being rejected/thrown to their errors department. I filed in late March, got my Letter 12C in late April, and responded in early May, which means it's been 11 weeks and now 80 days since I responded. Only change was on June 5, when my Where's My Refund changed to "we've received the information you provided/we're processing your return/check back for status updates." No updates since and no transcripts posted aside from Wage & Income.

I have been unsuccessful calling the IRS and contacted my Senator a couple of weeks ago and they said they have sent my case to the Taxpayer Advocate Service, but they said that it could take 30 days for TAS to respond.

Very frustrated-- I know some of you have received your refunds by now with this issue (either with or without the credit included), but for those of you who haven't, I am just wondering how long you have been waiting and any other strategies you've used beyond contacting your congressman/senator. Thanks.

Rant Blank Page Error

When checking the status of my amended tax return on my online irs account I am getting a blank page. I used to have the 1/3 bars so It was showing that the irs received my amended return. Now it’s completely blank. I called and was told it was adjusted 7/8 and I was approved for my full refund and to wait a few weeks however My transcripts show no updates. The balance on my account that was there is no longer there but there is a message that says adjustments are being made. I would be breathing a lot easier if I could just see the second bar that’s supposed to show that the amended return has been adjusted because the irs could be saying anything atp

General Question Conservation Easement Settlement

I’m looking for experiences from others who have gone through the IRS conservation easement settlements.

I invested in syndicated conservation easements in 2018 and 2019. Like many investors, I relied on the offering materials, tax opinions, CPAs, and attorneys involved. Fast forward 7–8 years, and I’m now receiving the final IRS assessment.

Here’s what I’m struggling with.

I understand having to repay the tax if the deduction is ultimately disallowed. I don’t necessarily agree with it, but I understand the IRS’s position.

What I don’t understand is why I’m being charged 7–8 years of interest when the IRS took nearly that entire amount of time to notify me of the issue.

If they had audited me in 2020 or 2021 and said, “You owe this tax,” I would have paid it then. Instead, they waited until 2026, and now the interest has become one of the largest parts of the bill.

It seems like taxpayers are effectively financing the government’s administrative delays.

My questions are:

Has anyone successfully gotten IRS interest reduced or abated because of excessive administrative delay?

Has anyone’s attorney had success arguing that the IRS had everything it needed but simply didn’t act for years?

Is there any case law or IRS procedure that limits how long they can let interest continue to accrue while a case sits?

Has anyone hired a tax controversy attorney who was actually able to reduce the interest—not just negotiate a payment plan?

I know the IRS generally says interest is statutory, but there has to be some limit to what’s reasonable.
If the IRS can wait 8 years before sending a notice, what’s to stop them from waiting 15 or 20 years? At some point it feels like the government benefits from its own delay.

I’m genuinely interested in hearing from people who have actually gone through these settlements. Were you able to challenge the interest at all, or is it essentially a dead end?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone whose partnership had long periods where the IRS appeared to have all the necessary information but the case simply sat without action.

Rant Continuing the saga— so many calls, zero info.

Posted earlier that I got through to the IRS (40 dials, 90 min on hold) and learned that a CP05 is now 180 days, as others here have also been told. I was also advised to review my return. A redditor suggested I check my wage and income transcript. I found a 1099-NEC is missing! Payor confirmed it was transmitted to IRS in Jan. So, now, I just want to confirm if the IRS does have it and if that is the problem. If so I’ll hassle the finance guy in my office to resubmit.

I tried calling two days ago, but got routed to the incorrect offices. One tried to transfer me, I was on hold about 30 min when the call dropped. The second call was a 3 hour hold but again wrong department— call the main number again but don’t mention the word “form”. That department has no access to taxpayer data.

Yesterday I decided I’ll try to get an appointment at my IRS office. Maybe I can sit down with someone and we can check all us in order. Naive and silly of me, I know, but I don’t do passive sit-and-wait very well. Plus at this time my taxpayer right to have clear communication and information about my taxes has been violated.

Here’s the good news. The number to call to get an appointment is a much more efficient way to get a human being. There are still long holds but someone comes on the phone, asks your info and then puts you on hold while they clearly research your situation.

And that’s where the good news ends. First time I call, I give him my info, he puts me on hold, and in the time it takes me to shower and dry my hair (spouse monitoring the call), I remain on hold till there a few beeps and the call is dropped.

Okay, try again. Get new human. All humans kind so far but this one was a little testy— tbh I’m trying to be kind but getting a little testy myself. I explain I want to verify that they don’t have a 1099 and is that the problem that is holding up my refund? She puts me on hold (at this time I expressed reluctance due to prior call). Comes back, “we don’t do appointments for that”. She didn’t reply to “What do you do appointments for?” Then she referred to the prior call when I was advised to wait the 180 days. I told her I had new info since then, and I was trying to verify. Surely someone in the IRS can look to see if this 1099 from this payor is in the system. Anyway I get put on hold after clarifying the question. And you know what happens…hold many minutes and the call is dropped.

For now, I give up and will try my congressman again. He’s a great guy but I’m sure his constituent services is swamped. Giving that two more days. I’ll move on to my senators if no luck there.

Not looking for advice here, just a rant. The Redditors who advise to just give it up may be correct.

Tax Refund/ E-File Status Question Filed March 18th and still haven’t received my return.

As the title says I filed my taxes in the state of TX in march, and since then I’ve had 3 60 day notices, and absolutely nothing else. I’m just trying to find out if this is a waiting game this year or if something else is going on making the irs behind or not funded enough to pay us out.
