History IMSA-Grand-Am Road Racing Association post-merger days growth resurged 4 times more powerful than Champ Car-IRL IndyCar post-merger

We know the IMSA-Grand-Am Road Racing Association post-merger days growth resurged 4 times more powerful than Champ Car-IRL IndyCar post-merger because IMSA worked by professional and competent leaders such as brought DPi in 2017 and later LMDh-style GTP in 2023 meanwhile Champ Car-IRL IndyCar post-merger still cannot help to return to heydays endlessly.

IndyCar post-merger stucked in endless hard time because of incompetent leadership although Fox chunks shares still can help IndyCar growth but still slow even stall.

IMSA suffered downfall in 1998 because of USRRC formation that angered fans and Andy Evans was the most hated man because he acted like Tony Hulman George to do catastrophic split and still never forgive him. American Le Mans Series VS GA Rolex Sports Car Series war were a dark times of North American Sports Car Endurance Racing because Rolex 24 at Daytona without IMSA like car without engine and was a biggest humiliation.

Do you agree? Thoughts on that?

Going to the IMSA race at VIR for the first time, need advice

My dad, brothers and I wanted to go to IMSA at VIR in August. We'd likely be going for only one day. I'm having a hard time figuring out what the different classes/cars are in each race. Could someone tell me what are the cars for the VP Racing, Michelin Pilot Challenge, Weathertech, Michelin GT challenges?

We're interested in multi-class racing and GT3 racing. Any suggestions as to whether Saturday or Sunday would be best for us?

Edit: Thank you everyone for the responses! Sounds like Sunday is the day to go

Actively hunting either a lease or purchase of a trackside Sebring 12h rv spot. Fully aware these aren’t cheap and I am ready to move fast on a spot. I will go through the regular track confirmation before making any payment. TIA

I couldn't find a good way to track races, so I built one

Last year I was talking to a mate and he was telling me he went to lots of races and had absolutely no good way of remembering them all.
Most people probably still use the Notes app, so over the last few months I built GridLog.

It's a bit like Letterboxd but for tracks and races. You can log every event you've attended, see your stats, track circuits and countries, upload photos and build a bucket list. It's just launched on the App Store (Android is on it's way! - if you'd like to be part of the Android beta test drop me your email in dm) and I'd really appreciate feedback from people who actually spend weekends at circuits.

Any feedback (good or bad) would be hugely appreciated.

❔ Question Newbie trying to get in

Heyhey and greetings from Germany here.

Im kinda trying to get into IMSA. But i find it very hard.

My dad used to watch F1 and there is so mutch culture around that. They talk a lot about and with the drivers, the cars etc.

Yet IMSA seems to have way less content sorounding the races. Or am i just looking in the wrong places.

Leade me to all the content. To the essays the interviews.

Or am i approaching this from the wrong angle.

Road America First Timer - Camping

Getting ready for my first time at Road America here for the 6hr and was wondering if anyone had advice!

First off, I have a trackside RV campsite. I have a popup and was not really paying attention when I booked, just saw trackside and thought that would be cool so booked it. I am assuming this is fine, as I am downgrading what the site is meant for as opposed to upgrading. Just don't want any problems when I get there.

Bugs. How are they?

Any recommendations for the area? I am from just about an hour north-ish, so not concerned with anything quintessentially Wisconsin, but anything to go do in the area would be great!

I have cruised the sub for a lot of other info, all great to have and look forward to a great weekend!

I have an extra RV site, camping wristband, and full event ticket available for this years IMSA event at Road America. I’m just looking to get what I paid. I can mail these out this week or meet at the gate during the weekend of the event. This is a great spot in Zone 5, inside of turn 1.

DM if interested. Mods, please delete if this isn’t allowed.

❔ Question [QUESTION] What developments do you think the Team Championship scene in GTDPRO will see?

Post image
104 Upvotes

(Please be civil, and also don't turn this into a BoP debate.)

7/19/2026

TLDR: It's too early to call, but:

  • Paul Miller BMW is in a great spot so long as they stay as consistent as they are
  • Pratt Miller Corvette needs to get it together if either car wants to fight for a championship
  • AO Racing has driven a wedge between the Corvettes, and they need to be on their A game if they want to potentially challenge Paul Miller
  • Vasser Sullivan is in much the same boat as AO Racing, but I'm not as sold on them yet.
  • Ford needs a lot to go right for them right now

Current Point Standings:

  1. #1 Paul Miller Racing - 1910
  2. #4 Pratt Miller Motorsports - 1802
  3. #77 AO RACING - 1766
  4. #3 Paul Miller Motorsports - 1765
  5. #14 Vasser Sullivan Racing - 1760
  6. #65 Ford Racing - 1742

Originally I was thinking about what team I think will win the GTDPRO championship, but then I realized: there's still 1400 race points still up for grabs. And with the number of unique winners we've seen so far, I now think it's too early to say who I think will win it, and it led me to a different question: what kind of developments within GTDPRO will we see?

Current Leader: Paul Miller Racing

Paul Miller looks to be the most consistent team this season. Not only did the #1 BMW win at Daytona, but they have only missed out on a top 5 finish once (Laguna Seca), and have finished on podium in the most recent two races. After CTMP, they're currently leading the #4 Pratt Miller Corvette by 108 points. If they continue to perform like this, I'd say things are very much looking up for them.

The Situation at Pratt Miller Motorsports

After the #3 Corvette finished 9th at CTMP, Pratt Miller no longer have both of their cars next to each other in the standings, with the #4 Corvette trailing BMW in second place, with the #3 now in fourth. The penalties suffered at Watkins Glen and Detroit are holding the #4 back from a closer fight with the Paul Miller BMW. With how close the fight for third place currently is, neither Corvette can afford lose any more consistency, they'll need to clean it up if at least one them means to fight for the championship.

AO Racing in the Mix Again

It's been a mixed bag of performance for #77 AO Racing Porsche. When it's been good, it's been podium-good, and when it's been bad, it's been really bad. A track limits penalty caused them to miss out on what would have been very good points at Watkins Glen, but after a podium finish at CTMP, combined with the dismal finish of the #3 Corvette, they have jumped up two positions and now sit in third place, putting a wedge between the Pratt Miller Corvettes. As already mentioned, when they bring their A game, they've finished on the podium 3 times now, and if they can continue to be on their A game from here, I could see them moving up to second to have it out with Paul Miller BMW. Even more important for AO Racing; they only have one point up on the #3 Corvette, so they absolutely must beat them at Road America.

Has Vasser Sullivan found their groove?

Whenever I see the Vasser Sullivan qualify on pole or at least near the front, I unfortunately don't expect them to finish anywhere near the front. When they won at Watkins Glen, I thought to myself, "Alright, I figured they had to win at some point," only to be surprised when they won again at CTMP and put themselves in the mix to battle for third place in the standings. That being said, the rest of their season so far has been dreadful to say the least, not once seeing a top 5 finish until the last two races, so I'm not fully sold on them yet. I'm not saying they have to win again, but they'll need good finishes to stay in the conversation. Even then, if they're not winning races, we would have to hope on some faltering from the other teams.

Ford Might Need to Get Lucky

I wasn't going to include Ford Racing, but I think there's something to be talked about here. Before Watkins Glen, the #65 Mustang was sitting third in points, 20 behind the #4 Corvette and just two points behind Paul Miller BMW, but getting spun and wrecked did real damage to their standings. Combine that with AO Racing and Vasser Sullivan's performances at CTMP, they've been knocked down to sixth in standings. It's not impossible, but I think a lot would need to go wrong for everyone else and a lot more right for Ford Racing in order to see this through.

I'm more of an enthusiast than an analyst, so I'm hoping to hear from everyone else to get different views on the current state of things. Looking forward to Road America!
