Discussion When will the government install an age limit for taxi drivers?

Post image

Yesterday when I got on a taxi, the driver was at least 80 yrs old. He blasted his radio at max volume and complained me for having too many baggages, and the whole ride was as bumpy as hell. Like why isn't there an age limit.

Image The indiscriminate attack at Yuen Long Station on July 21, 2019, has not been forgotten. Some people gathered there holding watermelons, implying that it was the thugs who initiated the attack. Ironically, the police arrived promptly this time, when it was gone unanswered during the attack

Questions/ Tips Whisky and Tequila Casks Investment experience

Post image
33 Upvotes

As a Cask Master customer who is currently dealing with unresolved matters, I am trying to understand whether other customers have had similar experiences to those described in publicly available reviews on other platforms.

One of my own experiences was finding a notice on the company's door when I attempted to visit their registered office (see photo).

If you are a current or former Cask Master customer and are willing to share your experience, either publicly or via DM, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.

Whether your experience has been positive or negative, I would be grateful to hear from you. The purpose of this initiative is solely to better understand customers' experiences and determine whether there are common themes.

I am an independent customer and have no affiliation with Cask Master.

Discussion Finding a Job as a graduate

I am non Chinese but can speak conversational Cantonese computer engineer graduate. I don't know if it's only me but I am tired from constantly looking for a job. I have applied for many IT roles. I have applied for about 100-200 jobs and most have ghosted me or ghosted me after 1 interview. It's not like I am willing to put in the effort as I am willing to learn new skills. Am doing something wrong?

Questions/ Tips Any recommendations for private chef or part time helper?

My parents hired a live-in helper recently cause dad has dementia (and tried to run away from home a few months ago) and mom is a solo caretaker. My sibling and I don’t live close by so we’d like them to not accidentally kick the bucket without our knowledge.

We are now firing her because she has been performing poorly, not learning, and more recently stole money from my mom. Anyway, she’s getting terminated but all that aside, my parents trust has gone down the drain, and I will probably be SOL to hire another helper cause my mom won’t want to babysit another person (valid). The flat is also small so yeah. I’m pretty pissed off since this was a waste of time and money but gotta cut your losses.

Instead of a live-in caretaker, I’m looking at other options so my mom doesn’t have to deal with that again. I know there can be amazing helpers and we had some awesome ones in the LONG past, but I really can’t do this anymore.

My question to HK reddit is:
- do you know any private chef that can go to their client’s house to cook dinner? I think my mom struggles with the night chores when she is tired, so cooking at night and washing the dishes, tidying the kitchen is the hardest part (all the while she does laundry and stuff)
- do you know any part time helpers that can either come by to help with chores in evening or even throughout the day? Or even taking my dad out for a walk and gym for exercise to give mom a break. One of my friends from abroad recommended Evercare as well.

Thanks HK sub. I’m really hoping to get some support on this, cause when you live so far from your aging parents, this is probably one of the most mentally draining things and stressful… aside from experiencing grief from losing my dad slowly to dementia but, you know, just life.

Questions/ Tips Is Anna House still open? Are there any other lolita fashion stores open?

Hi, my family is planning to go and find jfashion (specifically lolita fashion stores) in Hong Kong. We found a store named Anna House but the website doesn't seem to load and the latest reviews were from 6 years ago, and there isn't any more recent information we can find about it. Is its physical branch open? Are there any other lolita fashion stores (that can accept credit card)?

Questions/ Tips Planning a high-end Threadripper workstation build in Hong Kong – Need advice on RAM & motherboard sourcing (Dec 2026)

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to build a high-end AI workstation in Hong Kong around mid-to-late December 2026 and will be physically there for pickup.

Main parts I'm looking for:

- ASUS Pro WS WRX90E-SAGE SE (New Box preferred)

- AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7955WX or 7965WX (Tray)

- 8x 64GB DDR5-5600 ECC RDIMM (512GB total, same batch preferred)

- 4TB PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD

I'm especially struggling to find good pricing and stock for the 64GB ECC RDIMMs.

Questions:

  1. Which shops in Sham Shui Po (Golden Computer Arcade/Centre) or Mong Kok are reliable for workstation/server parts right now?

  2. Any recommendations for places that have good stock of high-capacity ECC RDIMM?

  3. Is it better to buy RAM new or look for clean server pulls?

  4. Any shops that are good with cash deals and bargaining?

Any recent experiences (2025-2026) would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Questions/ Tips Study abroad spending cost

I’m going study abroad in Hong Kong. How much would it cost for spending and food?

I want to eat out once or twice a week, and the rest will be school food.

I also plan to have personal spendings just in case! I don’t plan to buy much souvenirs, but I would like for an estimate in emergency cost. Most personal spendings will be spent in China

Questions/ Tips Adult hearing test in Hong Kong

My father's hearing is getting worse, and I believe he'll need hearing aids eventually. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with private adult hearing tests in Hong Kong? Information online is quite limited, and I would like to know about people's experience/review on services they've used before. Thanks a lot in advance!

Discussion Received an unexpected surprise in my Pinduoduo package! 🥺✨

Post image
31 Upvotes

I ordered something from Pinduoduo, and when the package arrived, I was so touched by what I found on the packaging bag.

It was a flyer for the "Bring Missing Children Home"公益 project (public welfare project). They had printed the photos, names, and details of missing kids right on the shipping bags. It’s such a simple but powerful way to spread awareness. My little order literally became a carrier of hope for these children. ❤️

The note at the bottom says: "Your comment is a form of affirmation and support. It is all for the children, giving them one more hope of returning home."

It really made my day. I just wanted to share this heartwarming initiative with you guys. If you have any info, please contact the police or the volunteers.

A simple packaging bag turned into a lifeline for missing children. Huge respect to Pinduoduo for this amazing idea.
