I'm in middle school, and before anyone judges me, please hear me out.
I haven't been attending school regularly for almost 3 years. That doesn't mean I'm lazy or a weak student. Even without going to school regularly, I still managed to get good ranks and performed well academically.
The main reason I stopped going was because of my teachers.
Last year, I went to school while I had food poisoning because I didn't want to miss classes. Instead of listening to me or asking what happened, my teachers immediately started judging me. They embarrassed me in front of the whole class and told my classmates not to lend me their notebooks because I should "come to school regularly and complete everything myself."
I was genuinely sick, but nobody cared.
Even when my parents came to explain the situation, the teachers spoke to them very rudely. After that, my parents told me, "If they're talking to us like this, imagine how they'll treat you." They said I didn't have to force myself to go if I felt unsafe.
Since then, just hearing the word "school" gives me anxiety. My heart starts racing, and I feel sick. I wanted to go back so many times, but I just couldn't.
This year, we got new teachers. They're definitely better than the old ones, but... teachers are still teachers. 😭 The endless notebook work, copy completion, punishments, and lectures are honestly exhausting.
About a week ago, I finally went to school. The teachers told me to start coming regularly and asked me to complete my notebooks ASAP. I said I'd finish them in two days.
My parents were planning to send me back on Monday, but it rained on Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday... I just couldn't make myself go. After staying at home for so long, the idea of going back feels overwhelming.
Now it's Thursday, and my parents want me to go on Monday.
The problem is... what do I even tell my teachers? They'll definitely ask why I disappeared for another week after promising I'd come regularly. None of my notebooks are completed or checked yet, and I'm low-key panicking.
I know some people will probably say, "Just go," but anxiety isn't that simple. I genuinely want to move forward, but every time I think about school, I freeze.
Has anyone else gone through something similar? How did you deal with it? And what should I say to my teachers when they ask where I've been?
Please don't judge me. I honestly just need some advice.be kind
