I know I’m not good I just want to have an enjoyable way to spend my down time. I’m not trying to make a living at it it’s just what I do after work. What is the point for people, especially those who do not practice the hobby they are critiquing me on, who feel the need to point out how terrible I am?

When people tell me they've never written a poem before, it's like someone saying they're never drawn before. It can seem intimidating, but it really isn't and there's a style for everybody! Free verse, the ones told in four lines, the ones with only 19 words, the ones with no words at all, limericks, ballads, prose poems. just try to write one and see from there!

Hello! I was wondering what suggestions people have for hobbies that don't put any strain on your wrists. I'm realizing a lot of my hobbies strain my wrist (writing, crocheting, cooking, jewelry making, etc) and I'd love to have some things to try that are easier on my wrists. I hike and read and those can be fine but interested in what others are up to!

Every hobby seems to have stereotypes that don't really match reality. What's your favorite hobby, and what's something people often misunderstand about it? It would be fun to learn what it's actually like from people who enjoy it.

Hi guys, I need to develop new hobbies that are fun and cool because I am stuck in a daily loop cycle with the same thing repeating, sudden urge to talk to someone or having a partner it's all and i don't want them just because I'm feeling empty so I'm thinking about picking a hobbies and try to do better at them

I'll share what mine turned out to be because i think it might help. i make bread. have for two years. every weekend, sometimes during the week, always by hand because i find the machine removes the part that helps.

The reason it makes me feel most like myself is that it requires something specific from me and gives me something back directly. Just the dough and my hands and whether i showed up with enough attention. What's yours and when did you figure out it was the one?

Can anyone suggest a hobby I can do that won't be destroyed by my cats? Any type of stitching, knitting, etc. is out as they can get into the thread/yarn. I'm fearful of jewelry making or diamond painting as they can eat the components (already have had things surgically removed from one cat's stomach). While I do enjoy painting, their little paws leave little paw prints in my paint and all over the house. 🤣

I want something I can do with my hands, but doesn't require intense focus or thinking.

EDITED TO ADD: The reason why I want to avoid any fiber crafts or things with tiny parts is that we have a few too many cats to distract easily. And no, we cannot close the doors. They will scratch consistently until we let them in. If it is not one, it will be a few doing this.

I am a 23 years old male from Hong Kong. I have been searching for hobbies that I can immerse myself in.

However, I have very short attention span. I get bored very easily. When I am doing anything, if it cannot instantly interest me, I really cannot keep doing it. I will immediately switch to other things, but there are really few things that can raise my interest.

There is really only football which can make me spend long time in it. But I really want to find other hobbies that I can equally enjoy. Do you have any suggestions?

I recently returned to horseback riding after a break of over 10 years—basically since high school. Getting back into the saddle as an adult felt incredibly nostalgic, but also completely different with a new mindset and a lot more respect for the process (and the muscle soreness, haha!).

It made me realize how much we lose touch with things that used to bring us pure joy.

Has anyone else re-discovered an old passion from their childhood or teenage years? How did it feel going back to it after such a long time?

I’ve recently gotten really into video editing as a hobby, and honestly, it has become my favorite way to unwind after a long day. There’s something so satisfying about taking raw footage, playing around with cuts, timing it perfectly to a good beat, and watching a story come together.

I mostly enjoy working on short, dynamic clips and experimenting with different styles, transitions, and pacing. It’s like a puzzle, but with colors and sound.

I’m curious—are there any other video editors in here? What kind of content do you enjoy cutting the most (travel, gaming, cinematic shorts)? Also, if you have any tips for a fellow hobbyist on how to keep improving, I’d love to hear them!

i kept complaining that i had no time after work but then realized i was spending like 2 hours every night just scrolling and not even looking at anything interesting so i ordered a custom diamond art thing mostly because i wanted something to do while listening to podcasts. i’m not really a craft person and honestly thought i’d get bored halfway through the first night i did get annoyed with it at first because the tiny pieces kept sticking to my hand and i somehow put a few in the wrong places lol. but it’s been sitting on my table for a couple weeks now and i keep working on it here and there sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes i realize an hour passed. still nowhere near finished though idk it’s just nice doing something where i’m not staring at my phone the whole time. what do you guys normally do in the evening that isn’t another screen?

I've been feeling kind of stuck lately and I really want to find new hobbies to get out more and have fun. I dont work as I'm a university student and have some health issues.

My current main hobby is cosplaying! I love it very much. I hand sew all of my cosplays from scratch and I love putting in lots of detail and small touches that just make me so happy. And I love going to cons and meeting other creative people.

I'd like to get into more physical hobbies but I'm a little bit limited with some chronic pain and health issues, but I'm building systems that will enable me to do more. I used to play baseball and fence, which I loved alot, but unfortunately I have wrist pain due to a surgery.

Sorry this is kinda long, but I'd love to hear from real people with real hobbies and see what cool things you do that I could try! Anything creative or hands on is what I love

I've realized that i have a lot more time to spare and I've been looking into niche hobbies but Google and other resources are giving the common hobbies like Art, Painting and crafting and i really want to expand my horizon by trying out new things until i find something that makes me happy.
