Read my chats with my Ex again

I read the chats of the past few moths again. She is soo done with me, she just wanted to escape and I didn’t let her, I kept feeling there is something, something inside of her for me, if I can just get to that, maybe she will come back. But I should have understood when she started comparing our situation to me and my other ex, how she was able to cut contact when she loved me. Fuck I feel so horrible and regretful, not only did I lose my self respect in front of her, pushed her away a lot and wasted so much of both of our time, she just simply didn’t want me, why tf was I so rigid to understand that, a month of disbelief is ok, but 5 months of being in denial, she got so tired of me, I’m sure she feels a bit relieved now. It’s sooo fucking tragic how things became between us, how absolutely sure she is, it hurts me so damn much. I must move on, this is no way to live life. She is grieving but she has moved on from the idea of me and she is extremely extremely stubborn as a person on her decisions so she will stick to it no matter what and that is what scared me the most but I don’t have an option now😞

The place I long to go back to no longer exists.

I’m 24 days post-breakup, 22 days since I last saw him in person, and 14 days into no contact after our final logistical text exchange.
(This timeline doesn’t even feel real.)

This has been the most heartbreaking loss of my life. I’ve never experienced this depth of grief, pain, and longing after a relationship ended. 💔

Journaling has helped me organize my thoughts and feelings, and I wanted to share something that has helped me in hopes that it resonates with someone here.

Yesterday I wrote:

“By the end… we were both grasping at straws. The relationship needed to end.

We were two people who loved each other, but had become increasingly incompatible in the way we related to one another.

We were desperately trying to save something that neither of our nervous systems knew how to stabilize anymore.

I felt deeply in love with him the entire relationship, but another truth that existed was the way I would tense up and feel anxious every morning waking up next to him… and that same feeling whenever one of us entered the same room.”

I’ve been trying to accept the end a little more each day, and upon reflecting today, this thought has helped me:

I’m not grieving a place I can go back to.

I realized that the relationship I’m longing to return to… no longer existed by the end.

I’m grieving the version of the relationship where we both felt safe, connected, and hopeful. But that wasn’t where we were anymore.

We hadn’t been there for a long time leading up to the breakup.. 😞

Even if he called today and said, “Let’s try again,” (as much as I WISH for that) I know that I wouldn’t be stepping back into a place of secure attachment.

The pain, exhaustion, tension, and resentment wouldn’t simply disappear.

I’m grieving something that was real, beautiful, and meaningful, but also something that had already changed.

I can’t go back.

So I have to let go.

I know it’s easier said than done.. but this helped me to push through another day and I hope it helps someone else. ❤️‍🩹

I’m grieving a relationship that feels rewritten beyond recognition.

I don’t know how you make peace with something like this.

I’m not claiming my perspective is the objectively correct one. I know I have my own biases and blind spots, just like she has hers.
But I’m genuinely bewildered by how differently we seem to remember our relationship.

Sometimes it feels like things have been reframed to the point where I barely recognize our relationship, myself, or even the person I loved. That’s been one of the hardest parts to grieve.

I don’t want to be right. I don’t want to “win.” More than anything, I wanted us to arrive at a shared understanding of what happened. I know we’re not in a place where that’s possible right now, and maybe we never will be.

I’m just trying to hold onto who I know myself to be while accepting that someone I loved came to understand me in a way that feels almost unrecognizable to me.

I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this, but it has been one of the loneliest parts of losing someone I loved.

Has anyone’s partner asked for space and come back?

My partner (33M) and I (26F) were together for almost 2 years in a long-distance relationship. We cared about each other but we had completely different communication styles. He was emotionally reserved, avoided conflict, and often needed space. I, on the other hand, needed reassurance and open communication.
Over time, I felt emotionally neglected. I started suppressing my own feelings because whenever I needed comfort, I felt like I was asking for too much. Eventually, I reached my breaking point. We had a huge argument where I completely lost control, said hurtful things that I deeply regretted and told him I wish you the worst out of anger but I sincerely apologized afterward.
Instead of breaking up with me, he said he forgave me but that the relationship had reached its limits, that he was emotionally exhausted, and that he needed space to think. He never explicitly ended the relationship or gave me a final answer.
It’s now been 17 days of complete silence. I have respected the space he asked for and haven’t contacted him, but I honestly don’t know how to interpret this anymore.
I’m not looking for false hope I’d just like to hear from people who have been in a similar situation. If your partner asked for space, did they eventually come back? If yes, how long did it take, and what happened afterward?

TL;DR: My partner asked for space after a major argument but never officially ended the relationship. It’s been 17 days of no contact. Has anyone experienced something similar, and did their partner eventually come back?

How... why... ?

I feel stuck in my own thoughts. I miss her but can't let go. Suddenly she was gone. Did she ghost me, did something happen? I haven't heard from her in a while now and thought i was OK. But then yesterday it hit me again. Talking with people, i just miss the connection i had with her, nobody compared to her. I don't dare move on, hoping she will return explain why she wasn't able to reach out. I don't dare let go, I'm in denial. Or maybe she really is in trouble, she did say the weeks before she vanished that things were getting more tense for her, that she had to communicate less often, but never said nothing at all. I still hold on to that hope she might return. I opened up to her, i let her in. I hadn't done that for most people ever, I'm a super private person, it takes a lot for me to trust someone, I'm usually paranoid and always on guard, even if i trust someone. But with her that all went, i didn't have a guard up anymore. It makes it so much harder to not talk with her daily. She's still on my mind every day. Secretly i even hope she reads this now. I'm even thinking is she testing how loyal i am, how long i will keep waiting for her?

How do you deal with this?

Those who ghosted, why? Was it easy?

Those who were ghosted, how do you cope?

Ele conseguiu me fazer perder a paciência, jogar meu anel no chão e sair.

Cheaters always cheat?

Hi. I want to sum this up as easy as possible. Since April 2024, I have been off and on with a man who I thought he and I were in love with each other - the reason I keep going back and me thinking that soul mates find their way back blah blah right? Well June of this year we reconnected, to which he told me the gf in between us he had broken up with. About a week ago I got a text message from a friend a photo in a are we dating the same guy facebook group of him. I know it was the ex because he told me she had DMed multiple of his friends and girl friends from home and here after "I picked her up to get the rest of her stuff, showered while she collected it and when I got out she locked herself in my bedroom and went through my laptop" INSANE story sir. But I fell for the manipulation. I clearly have thought that was all odd and took initiative to DM her myself on a burner acct. She told me that they met in June 2024 and were exclusive in September then. Funny we broke up in October 24. Also informed me they were together up until last weekend hence just now posting about it. HE told me the girls she DMed were his friends from home and looking at the girls she recently followed that is true.... She also followed my real acct after the burner acct convo ended so she knows about me? Besides that, I know he is a piece of shit from her saying all the stuff from the peak of our relationship being the start of theirs. I am just confused what to do here, he doesn't know I reached out to her and is asking to see me before my trip this weekend lol I know I should leave but seeking advice because I am genuinely at a loss.

Someone please tell me an actual way to stop yearning for someone who I haven't even dated, but they told me they liked me romantically once?

To make a very long story short, I knew this girl in middle school. Let's call her S. She was the first friend I made there, and at the end of eighth grade she texted me saying that she liked me and hoped the feeling was mutual.

I, of course, had to be a stupid middle school boy. I didn't know what "mutual" meant, so I never texted her back to tell her I felt the same way. To this day, that's one of my biggest regrets.

When we started high school, we ended up in the same homeroom. I wanted to clear things up, but I never got the chance. She had become friends with someone who made fun of me almost every day in front of her. I would try to joke around with S the way we used to in middle school, but this new friend would tell her to ignore me or shut me down before we could even talk. I don't know if S ever told her about the text she had sent me, but after that everything between us just seemed to switch off.

Around my high school friends, I acted like I was the happy, joking guy. Looking back, though, I don't think I was ever really the same after what happened with S.

Then COVID happened. The few friends I had drifted away, or it felt like they always had someone they'd rather talk to. When we returned to school during junior year, I really only had one friend. Even then, we were just school friends. We never hung out outside of school.

I eventually told her everything about S, and she encouraged me to text her and try to reconnect. So I did, even though I already knew things wouldn't be the same. She had built a new life and made new friends, and I felt like I would only be filling empty space.

I sent her a message that said something like, "Tripping up the stairs is embarrassing, but nothing is more embarrassing than not knowing what the word 'mutual' meant." She replied and said she was in the middle of moving and wanted to talk more afterward.

We never did.

I'd still see her in the hallways, and she would always wave at me. Even then, I knew nothing was ever going to happen between us.

Ever since graduating high school and starting college, I've had dreams about her. They always feel incredibly real. The way she talked, the way she joked, and the way it felt to be around her all come back so vividly. Every time I wake up from one of those dreams, I find myself wondering what I would give for the chance to go back and change that one moment.

At the same time, I see her on Instagram living the life she always said she wanted. I'm genuinely happy that she's doing well, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous. She kept moving forward while I stayed stuck looking backward. She's living her life, and it often feels like I'm still caught in the past, wondering what could have been while feeling like I've accomplished very little with my own.

But I think now, at 21, I desperately need to move on. I've spent years thinking about S, and in doing so I've stayed quiet about things I'm starting to notice in my own family and in my own life. I don't want to keep living in the past anymore. I don't want to keep wondering what could have been or wishing I could go back and change one moment. I just want to move forward, but I don't know how.

So someone, please help.

How to be okay with no contact?

How to be okay with no contact?

For context I had a gf and we were 3 years and 5 months. Broke up 2 months ago. For the 1st month ee were on and off. Today she decided to say that she'll end sending anything and stop being friends too. We're in the same group of friends and we decided to be casual or so I thought. We stopped whatever set up we had maybe 2-3weeks ago and the same day she said for me to not beg her to accept me in her accounts if she ever unfriended me. I respected that and i genuinely understand. I was also the reason why we broke up, got controlling and insecure but i was changing up until now. How do i be okay with us going no contact? How can i feel okay when we are not in contact anymore? Not blocked but she's on private, and she unfriended me. I feel like Im going nuts i feel so anxious. How do i genuinely get over it? How do i stop getting panic attacks? How do i make peace with her absence?

Why is everything always unfair?

Karma doesn't exist. Or at least, negative karma always exists when it comes to me. At the slightest hint of a vaguely immoral action, karma strikes and makes me miserable. Yet the rest of the time, I’m kind and good to everyone; I do plenty of favors and try to make everyone happy. And karma stays silent. Or maybe I should just be grateful to be alive? Fuck it, I hate my life.

For five years, I made so many sacrifices for my girlfriend—I literally saved her life. Then, one day, she wakes up and decides she doesn't love me anymore; she starts an OnlyFans account and begins seeing a bunch of guys less than a week after leaving me. What happened to post-breakup respect? To avoiding hurting the person you loved for so long? She can do whatever she wants with her life, but couldn't she at least wait a few months? Because if I were in her shoes, I would have done that without anyone even asking; I’ve always done so after a breakup.

And here I am, telling myself: "One day she’ll come back and beg to get back together, because I was the best guy she could have ever had"—but what a deluded fool I am. Now she goes out every day, has people around her who care about her, has fun, can sleep with whoever she wants, and doesn't think about me anymore. Meanwhile, I haven't slept in months; I keep waking up in the middle of the night with anxiety because I dream of the lovely girl she used to be and realize we aren't together anymore. I can't get back to sleep, I can't eat, and I suffer from constant panic attacks where I try to hurt myself—or worse. She took all the money I had; I’m alone all day with no one to talk to or go out with. I’ve been reduced to writing here all day, looking so desperate as I churn out post after post and cry because no one answers—all just to find a little company and avoiding to have one my crisis.

And a year from now, I’ll still be alone, without friends, working every day for the rest of my life. Meanwhile, she’ll already have a loving new boyfriend, be rich thanks to OnlyFans, and won’t even remember the guy who saved her life from her abusive family.

And everyone tells me, "You have to try to understand." I have to try to understand? I’m always making excuses for other people's actions, even when they’re downright cruel to me. Why doesn't anyone ever try to understand ME? Why am I always the one who has to make an effort for others, while no one ever makes an effort for me? I’ve always been the least appreciated son, the family outcast, the one excluded from every friend group and bullied, the one who struggled in school, I’m not anyone’s first choice, nor their second, got rejected by every girl, and has no bright future ahead. I don’t think I ever did anything wrong to deserve all this pain, and I’m tired of having to be the mature adult when no one else is willing to be that way with me. I don’t even have the courage to end it all once and for all.

I am exhausted by this life. Everything was fine; I had the one person who made me happy, and now she’s the worst of them all. I didn't really do anything to make her leave—I was building her dream, supporting her for years while she worked on her own dreams. But I suppose I asked too much from my life. I just wanted to have one person with me who truly loves me and wants to be with me. I have no one to hug. Not even my parents. I truly, simply want someone who loves and cares for me, who shows it, and who cuddles me.

I feel lost without her

My ex partner, F 27, and I M 31, split slightly over two weeks ago. My entire world has crumbled and fallen before my very eyes, the pain is unlike anything I've ever experienced before.

I am a carer for my disabled younger brother and have always been once since the age of 16. Due to this fact I was unemployed for a very long time (14 years) due to leaving school and not being able to pursue further education. I didn't see caring as a job, more so something I'd always do regardless.

We met in the summer of 2021, it wasn't in person but over a dating app. She had something on her dating profile about how she has a love of gaming and wanted to get more tattoos, to which I commented on - which immediately started off this amazing conversation, we exchanged numbers and hit it off immediately. I remember the day we matched, it was the 6th of September. Fast forward a year of talking every single day we decided to become official and on the 6th of September 2022 we were boyfriend and girlfriend. I was absolutely over the moon at the time, everything felt right. What actually lead us to this decision was the fact that she was staying at a friend's house at the time about 200 miles north. Her suitcase had broken and she really didn't want to get the train/public transport back home. So I offered to drive up to her and pick her up and take her back home. Baring in mind two things, I'd only learned to drive 3 months prior and 3 weeks prior to the drive up there I just had a major operation on my stomach and still wasn't healed. None of this mattered to me, I would have done anything for her, absolutely anything. So I set off in my car, loaded up a 4 hour playlist, hit play and just drove and drove and drove, i didn't stop once, which I later found out she was pretty angry at me for but I didn't want to wait, I wanted nothing more than to see her but also get her home safely. I get there safely. I load her suitcase into my car and we stop for fuel. There was this pizza place attached to the petrol station so we decided to get something to eat there. We got the pizza, got into my car and started eating. As we did it started heavily raining - we both knew we were in love at that point, it was the most peaceful and serene moment a person could ask for.

She knew I was a carer and she always said to me "I knew what I was signing up for when I started dating you" and we used to meet up about once a month, sometimes every two weeks but the average was once a month.

We kept this up until the start of this year (2026) - I recently gained employment for the very first time and she and I were really happy, she was as happy as I was that after all this time that I was finally able to get into the world of work.

But it was unsociable hours. I work(ed) a 5am-1pm shift and that meant getting up at 3:30am to go to work. I get home for 2pm and then I'd have to resume caring for my younger brother, this kept me going until 9/10pm on most nights, then I'd have to sleep and be awake for 3:30 am the next day. So I was averaging 4-5 hours of sleep and staying awake for 19 hours most days. The relationship at the time was manageable but I'd do anything to keep her in it as I love her dearly. But slowly but surely my communication fizzled out bit by bit. I would wake up, message her, leave for work, get on break, message her and then get home and be absolutely exhausted and message her saying I'm home. Aside from that I was just so burnt out and tired that I didn't make time for her, not because I didn't want to, I felt like I couldn't. Which I know is wrong as I could/should have tried harder but I was just so so so tired.

This went on until mid July where I just couldn't take it anymore and broke down to her, we agreed on a break, a mutual break, i told her I was scared of making her upset as I've always been the one who's been broken up with. She said in the past 7 months she's has had time to mourn the loss of the relationship. At first the agreement was okay with me. But after a day or two I didn't want that anymore, I needed her back and wanted nothing more than another shot to prove that I want this to work so badly. She said she needs time and that I need time as well. She wants me to have a life again, because I've not had one at all for the past 7 months, all I've done is go to work and care for everyone, i stopped caring for myself.

She said in order for things to potentially get back to where they once were that major changes need to take place. She said she stopped becoming a priority, which I now understand but at the time she was always on my mind, 24/7. I was just in a completely new world and didn't know how to handle/navigate it. I met up with her the other day, we were intimate, we held hands and we kissed and cuddled. Just as I was about to leave, we were cuddling and she said to me, if we do work out or we don't, you'll always be in my life, and that broke me. I told her many times that I've began the process of making major changes in my life - I will spend more time with friends, I will change shift patterns to allow me to have more time for friends and her, but most importantly for myself.

I just hope I haven't lost her as a romantic partner for good. She was and is the love of my life. I'm constantly thinking she'll end up with someone better, who's more available. And that kills me. She's told me she's off the market for now and I absolutely will do my all to get my life back. I will do it for me.

Is it too late?

How do I cope

It’s literally taking every ounce of effort left in me to hold myself steady, I just wanna ask her if she’s genuinely ok, if she’s happy, now that I’m not in her life anymore, ik she took a very pragmatic decision with all the logic falling correctly in her head, But I really wish she knew me better. If what she said about how much she did love me was true, I wish she had more want for me, I wish she wasn’t this pessimistic, I wish she believed that this guy is different, that for me, she would make an exception. She just put me in a category and drew a box around me, which I can never escape because she owns that, she controls it and I’m just tied to it because of my own brain and my own wants. Because I do believe in myself , I did believe in us more than her, I wish it didn’t have to be like this, so much suffering, because of strong conviction, I wish there was more love and especially more trust. I wish she trusted we could rebuild. Now im so broken I don’t even know if I have it in me anymore. I wish I didn’t fuckup things so bad.

Why did she do this to me?

Tldr:

Please if someone have time give it a read i need serious help with some reassurance or tips or anything

Im sitting here after 40 days of ending 3 years of relationship with my ex gf

And i got so strong but now im tired today again of composing myself she gave me life long trust issues i remember her crying begging me not to leave 10 thousand times during those 3 years she would claim to die if i left her etc etc she showed up differently from every other girl to keep me trauma bonded to her she won my trust that she's a Gem in todays generation I treated her like my princess i lost myself my health my family my everything for her i ruined my studies just to be her perfect partner she was chaotic and she would abandon me for 20 20 days sometimes 3 sometimes 5 sometimes 10 it was so triggering im anxious leaning secure man and it made me terrible i lashed out at her at times i screamed i begged for basic human decency and in return she would turn ice cold not saying i love you back or even listening to me crying she would smirk and lied to me gaslighted me

Butttt whyyyyy am i still gaslight im still thinking i was the problem and when i think no she was the problem then grief and anger hits me why did she do it to me and then same girl who cried 10 thousand times to not leave her or she would die didn't reach out in 40 days living her life as if nothing mattered i wonder if she is even a human being

But im still trauma bonded and i can't stop looking at her profiles even if i block her and she's following random men and i die here thinking of her having sex with somebody else I don't want her but still the thought of her being with someone else I can't let that go it tightens my chest and i feel sharp pains

I desperately want her guilt and sorry and for her to realize that she did something wrong so that i will get my closure

I feel worthless

I feel helpless why do my brain and heart can't agree that people can be cruel to best partners and it's not about me i feel like it's about me and there are so many emotions that I can't understand

I was doing so great but suddenly i hit days like these and i feel helpless talking to anyone doing anything nothing makes me feel okay

Someone give me some hope or anything that one day these things won't matter anymore and how what should i do im praying I'm hitting gym im getting appreciation letters on my new job just in 18 days im their best employee than those who are there for years im young man energetic and i love my job that's why im doing so great but nothing seems to help i journal i do self care and everything

Break up - brutal advice needed

My boyfriend and I have broken up. Before this I helped him set up his new home, drove him places after he lost his licence and helped him reunite with his friendship group after he went off the rails last year. People who have seen him have commented on how much happier and styled he is. But We have been arguing a lot for month. I didn’t like how he was so flirty with women online and he was very defensive over it. He wanted me to meet his children but this stressed him out. He would say he loved me and wanted a future with me but was worried I would leave. So I kept staying. When he got defensive he would be very cold and would say unpleasant things. During arguments I would argue back, panic and get very upset which would just anger him more. I explained that the flirting with others really bothered me. When he was getting custody of his children for the first time overnight on his own he started to get very stressed and easily wound up. He would be very defensive, reactive and argumentative. The first sleepover with his children went wrong, he reacted badly went out drinking and thought he’s lost his keys and rang me in the middle of the night. I drove 40mins to sort it, while I was doing this he was flirting inappropriately with at least two other women. The next day he became very depressed and volatile. When I went to see him the day after he was still volatile and got angry when I mentioned the women. Again saying unkind things. I didn’t leave when I should’ve and it drove me to a panic attack which he called drama (I have ptsd). The next day he had an adhd assessment which led him to have to go through his life including all the traumas. He then started medication for his adhd. He was very obsessive over it. The messaging women thing continued and we kept clashing over it. But he kept saying he loved me and wanted me to meet his children. He became more volatile and sensitive. Was drinking more. At the same time he got involved with neighbours who are drug users and started to take cocaine himself. All of which he denied. There also started to be trouble in his neighbourhood. There were fights and police involvement. This stressed him and he tried to get involved. The sleepovers with his children went ok but were tiring for him. We had nice weekends away and time together and he kept saying I had saved his life. He got very ill and I took him to an and e, sitting with him for hours. He said no one else would help him. He had also been taking his adhd medication badly (too much or none at all) Also still drinking. I then heard some gossip that he’d told people we’d split and he was sending flirty voice notes to other women - I have since found out this was true. I told him about the gossip and he became totally obsessed with it and wound up. He was very volatile about it. Lied about going to a pub and acting very strangely. The obsession over the gossip kept going. I would keep arguing it and saying it didn’t matter and I didn’t believe it. This boiled over on one evening where I just wanted to see him and have a hug. He started renting about the gossip. He was drunk. Still not taking his adhd medication properly. Wouldn’t believe me. Started messaging the person who’d told who denied it. I got very upset. He insisted I ring the person who didn’t pick up. He insisted I did this three times. He started to accuse me of making it up. I was getting very upset and went into a freeze mode. He asked me to leave. I just couldn’t. I was frozen which happens. I know I should have. I was just so upset. He was shouting and slamming doors.I told him to stop it because I just wanted the accusations to stop. He rang a friend and when I heard it was his friend I said help. This infuriated him. His friend turned up. That night we broke up. And decided it was over properly a couple of days later. He said I shouted. I didn’t - his friend confirmed this. I was upset and sounded it but I didn’t shout. Since this he has called my actions unforgivable and doesn’t want to see me ever again. He’s made me the villain even admitting he hadn’t told anyone that I have ptsd and react in that way.

I’m so confused and don’t know what to think. What did I do wrong? He has adhd and rsd.

Right every wrong

you are my last person

matching tattoos

same tastes

i wanted us to have the same name

the sun

the moon

yours together

mines apart

all anyone wants now

is someone to keep them company

not a bad strategy i guess

good company to walk through life with

i didnt want us to only be good company

i wouldve loved the shit out of you

good days

bad days

and every one in between

i wouldve loved you so hard

it wouldve righted every wrong

anyone has ever done to us

every time we received less

than we deserved

i wouldve made up for

even though our past makes us

we wouldve been brand new people

nothing before us meeting mattered

every story you told me

i still keep secret

if i may

something happened to me

that shaped the course

of the person i am today

no one knows but me

i keep it guarded under lock and key

with my life i swore id never tell

i almost let slip

the most tramatic part of me

whenever you tell

secrets

its intimate

its scary

but it wasnt with you

it was normal

i almost questioned why i even

still held it so close

you are my last person

so i guess my secrets safe

i didnt just want us to be good company
