That Sirius gave Harry the two-way mirror in OoTP and it did not magically appear out of the nowhere in the seventh movie. That kinda annoyed me.

I mean surely HBO is licensing the F*** out of this new franchise . I just hope Panini was in attendance at any licensing meetings.

Well, not necessarily pointing at the screen. Just realizing that that was a scene from the books not shown in the movies.

Based on looks alone, I legit thought Janet was, at least, a decade younger than Maggie, and that we would be getting a younger McGonagall this time around.

Imagine my surprise when I learned that this wasn't the case.

Lupin's anti-Dementor lessons in the third season will take place in the History of Magic classroom (based on books). In the films, however, the lesson takes place in the Astronomy Room (the setting that previously served as Dumbledore's office in the second film).

As a reminder, the History of Magic classroom is one of the largest classroom in the books (as the series clearly confirms).

I hope they show several of these lessons, because that's exactly what happened in the books. Harry needed weeks to conjure something tangible. However, in the film, Harry only participated in one of them, and he managed to create an intangible Patronus on his only second attempt.

I can't wait to see Lupin and the Dementors in this version of the series!

Never picked up on this before, but when they’re in the hogs head JK described the bartender as an old white haired man “who seemed vaguely familiar to Harry” 2 years before we get the aberforth reveal. He was thinking he looks like dumbledore but couldn’t place it.

Apologies if already shared. But Daniel Rigby (Vernon Dursley) will be performing in the Donmar Warehouse this summer if anyone’s interested in checking it out! I imagine straight after this he’ll be back to filming scenes for HP season 2!

I don't care that I've sat through extreme horror movies without blinking. The fact that HBO is going to adapt the Swelling Solution scene from CoS chapter 11 in high definition realism is genuinely terrifying me. I love my boys Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle and i am NOT taking this slander.

Recent interviews have told us two things about the series: we first see Hogwarts at the end of episode one, and there's a Quidditch game in episode seven. From this, here's my breakdown of what chapters will be in what episodes:

This seems like odd pacing to me, so I'm expecting the middle of the series will feature a lot of original content to supplement the few chapters being adapted there. I'm decidedly excited for that.

I was thinking about the show and the films and how sometimes movies show things that arent in the books POV.

For example, in HBP we see more of Malfoys POV than we actually read. Cant remember if thats the case in the films more than this example, but I hope they stick to the narratives we have in the book.

My fear is that they "ruin" some of the plot points. Like in DH when Ron leaves. Im thinking the show might want to show what he does to fill show time, but I really think its the best for us to not know where he is until he returns. It makes it way better. But I am however positive to the idea of a "flashback". That we get to see it once he does return. Of course, this is almost a decade down the line.

What do you guys think?

Nothing serious, just some fun speculation.

So we are all excited for the new show coming out and the movies will forever have a soft spot in our hearts too… what references/quotes/artefacts/location etc from the movie would you love to see in the tv show.

It could be as big as reusing the old hogwarts castle silhouette, or as small as the quidditch snitch being the same. I often think about mcGonagalls line “I always wanted to use that spell” from the last movie as being a lovely way to pay tribute to her.
