Escape the Underworld as Melinoë in Zagreus' Journey, the Hades II DLC you'll never get.

It's finally time, I've just released Zagreus' Journey 1.0 - thank you to everyone who's played the mod while it was in beta, and for all of the positive reception and feedback I've gotten here and on Discord in the past!
Watch the 1.0 Release Trailer for the mod here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxuTLSPqIEE

Zagreus' Journey is a mod for Hades II that adds the original route Zagreus took through Tartarus, Asphodel, Elysium and the Temple of Styx in the first game to the sequel.

Escape the Underworld as Melinoë, battle familiar foes and bosses using her unique abilities and weapons, meet Zagreus' old friends, and reconnect with your family's past - all integrated into the main game as if it was always there: Naturally progress through the new biomes, unlock new incantations to perform, reveal and complete new Minor Prophecies, forge bonds with NPCs in familiar and new locations, collect over 30 new resources to spend on new cosmetics and music, and test your skills with new Testaments, Chaos Trials and in Dream Dives.

Here's a list of highlighted mod features:

  • Play through the original four biomes of Hades as Melinoë: Tartarus, Asphodel, Elysium and the Temple of Styx.
  • Discover and overcome the challenge of fighting all of the original game's enemies and bosses using Melinoë's unique abilities and weapons.
  • Relive Zagreus' story by escaping to the Surface, forging bonds with your brother's old friends, and conversing with the Fury Sisters, the Champions of Elysium and [REDACTED] himself.
  • Benefit from a multitude of entirely new boons and effects offered to you by Sisyphus, Eurydice, Patroclus... and other familiar faces that you will now be able to meet along the way!
  • Collect 30+ new resources specific to the new biomes, use them for unlocks in this and other mods (see section below), and trade them with the Broker.
  • Unlock 29 new musical tracks from Hades' original soundtrack through the Hades OST for the Music Maker mod integration (automatically installed with this mod).
  • Decorate the Crossroads with 45+ new cosmetics, including new Cauldrons, Arcana Card Backs, and Charms inspired by Zagreus' companions from the first game.
  • Discover and complete 35+ new Minor Prophecies at the Fated List.
  • Complete 24 new testaments by clearing the new bosses using each of your weapons with new fear levels.
  • Discover and perform 20+ new incantations to unlock gameplay features and progress story events in Zagreus' Journey.
  • Unlock six of the original game's keepsakes by forging relationships with Sisyphus, Eurydice, Patroclus, Orpheus, Megaera and Thanatos through the Shared Keepsake Port mod integration (automatically installed with this mod).
  • Challenge yourself with a set of new Chaos Trials, including randomized "Chaos Within" trials in the spirit of (Great) Chaos Above and Below.
  • Advance through 50 new cosmetic-only ranks at the Spirit Mixer, from the lowly "Alpha Warden" to the feared "Unseen One".
  • Earn a new set of three statues from Commander Schelemeus by escaping the Nightmare Realm at progressively higher fear.
  • The four new regions can also appear in Dream Dives (but you can use the mod config to exclude them if you so wish).
  • Read all about the new biomes, enemies, bosses and friends in a new chapter in your Codex.

I want to thank everyone who's used the mod while it was still in beta, and especially those of you who've left bug reports and feedback on Discord and GitHub.

I also want to acknowledge that I know some of you had issues with mods (and Zagreus' Journey in particular) causing issues after Supergiant released Post-Launch Patch 2 - without going into details, the patch was much larger and substantial than we anticipated in the community, which could cause crashes for some people even with mods seemingly disabled.

But I'm happy to share that we've since updated a lot of the tools that we use, and now mods will be entirely separate from your install, meaning that no matter what, you will always be able to play vanilla Hades II without issues, and without needing to disable or manually uninstall anything.

And to also pre-empt some other potential questions:

  • The mod is only available on PC and Steam Deck, consoles are not supported, just like all other mods.
  • You need to own and have the first Hades game installed to use this mod.
  • You can use cross-saves with Switch, but must make sure you are not in a modded run when continuing on Switch.
  • You should always back up your saves before playing with mods - just in case.
  • The mod is save to uninstall/disable at any point, and won't break your save. You can install it again at any point and your progress will be retained!
  • This mod does not make Zagreus playable, and I won't be working on a mod like that.
  • Yes, Lernie's neck has been found in the depths of Asphodel's lava since my last post!

Hades 2: Discussion Can’t get over the depiction of this guy in “The Odyssey” Spoiler

Being so hades the game coded, I kind of forgot how they are depicted in a pretty goofy and funny way in the games that makes them fit the world.

Seeing how horrifying characters like Polyphemus and Circe were depicted in this movie was so interesting when I kept relating them to how the chars were depicted in the game.

But damn that scream and that scene and everything was so captivating.

Hades 2: Discussion Why Gigaros? Spoiler

so in the plot, getting Gigaos was important for the story because you need to use a weapon Zag also had acces too… but couldn’t you just borrow nemesis’ sword, steal the rail after beating eris, or just use the random weapons in zags room? Why did it have to be Gigaros, like the hardest to be for Mel to get?

Hades 2: Question Help: Chronos suddenly remembering he’s an old guy Spoiler

I’ve gotten into the groove and cleared Chronos a handful of times now. I went off to do some Olympus runs, then came back and suddenly Chronos seemed…SO slow. Like, absolutely snail’s pace on every attack he made. I felt like I was running circles around him.

I did cast the “time altering effects work on Chronos” spell from the cauldron (can’t remember the name) in between, but I wasn’t using the Hex that slows time. I did have Demeter boons, but I’d have sworn I saw the freeze effect dissipate on him/his health bar so I’d be surprised if it’s that either.

Did that cauldron spell really make the fight 80% easier across the board? Did my game glitch? Or am I just unknowingly humblebragging about my freshly Typhon-honed reflexes?

Hades 2: Discussion Midway through Hades 2, what were your thoughts on the story atp? Spoiler

for context, i've beat Chronos thrice, and Typhon once. i'm really enjoying the gameplay, it's forced me to get out of my comfort zone and not button mash my heart out lol, but the story is leaving a lil to be desired.

in Hades 2's defense, the stakes are much higher. Melinoe's upbringing was way more serious and u can see that in how she speaks. yet i feel that she's quite passive in her fight...? i keep hoping she'll question the gods and how they treat one another, as well as the severity of their situation, or even more fiercely double down on her goals, but instead i find her to be... neutral? passive? her voice feels like it stays the same, not just tonally but literally too (not blaming the incredible VA for this, it's more of a writing/direction issue, i feel); i was hoping by now she'd express more doubt or annoyance or stress or anything different to what she's been doing so far. is it just me?

edit: oh and the boons! selene's boons <<<<<< hades 1 god boons. i only really like one of selene's boons, and unlike the rest of 2, where i had to learn to be flexible with how i play, i find them limiting playstyle-wise. i adored the variety 1 offered in that sense, even tho they weren't all that different from some of the regular abilities.

i wonder why they didn't make nyx's boons the final god boons too, she's more powerful than the rest of the house of hades, would make sense if she got away. since she had a better relationship with chaos by the end of 1, it'd make sense if chaos helped her. and nyx helping melinoe so much could play into the resentment her children have for both of them.

Hades 2: Question Cast Damage Question Spoiler

Howdy fellow room clearers. I have about a thousand hours in Hades II and I still am not sure about the mechanics of how cast damage works. Press the button, it snares enemies. Do an omega cast, and when it expires it does a blast of damage. But now here's the question.

If I have a buff that increases cast damage by X% (Chaos boon or an item, etc.) does that ONLY increase that expiration damage blast of the omega cast? Or if I am using Zeus' cast does it increase the lighting bolt damage by X% or no, it's still only that final blast of damage? Does doing an omega cast increase the damage of Zeus' lighting bolts (or Demeter's icicles, Hera's hitch, etc., any additive cast damage) in general or does a cast buff not affect those things at all? With origination and all the other global damage boosting effects you can get, it's kind of tough for me to tell if Zeus is doing more damage while I have a cast boosting item or if it's just the sum of all those extra % increases.

Another good example is Heph. If I'm doing a Heph cast build and dump all my poms into it, is there any point in doing omega casts or going for cast damage boons if it will just do whatever the Heph ding dong cast damage is set to (plus global modifiers) anyway? Just want to make sure I'm not wasting my time doing omega casts or cast damage items if it doesn't make a difference.

Anyway, I hope this makes sense.

tl;dr: Does "cast damage +X%" increase cast boon damage or ONLY the built in omega cast expiration damage?

Happy hunting!

Can’t stop, won’t stop. No no no.

This one was harder to draw because I kept making the scene longer, so i decided to cut it short in the end. I drew it perspective style for two reasons- it hits harder and I can’t draw the angles I want yet

(And yes, Mel returned to shadow before Zag could even apologise. You wanna see how that played out? Read Chains of Time on AO3)

I'm looking to buy this game for switch 2, and I wanna know if this game runs on 1080p on handheld boost mode on switch 2. I know the switch 1 resolution is 720p, but I don't see any info with the switch 2 boost mode.

Hades 1: Question I randomly got the credits??

I wanted to clarify -- what are the prerequisites to trigger this particular quest?? I haven't done anything of note, in fact, I've only been working on three tasks for the duration of my playthrough (orpheus-eurydice, Achilles-patrocles, thanatos), none of which i finished. I've ignored giving nectar to most of the olympians, I've only beaten hades about ten or so times, so I'm not sure what triggered this 😭

Hades 1: Art Hades Switch Compendium codex artbook

Hello everyone I purchased Hades switch game from AliExpress and it's missing the art book that is supposed to come with it, I think the seller scammed me (also another game came in bad condition) I was wondering if anyone has the Hades Compendium digitally I'd really like to have it. It was one of the main reasons why I purchased the game physically in the first place. I love the art. Would really appreciate it much appreciated.
