Announcements Updates Update

Hey guys, so basically nobody was consistently available or interested in moderation positions, but you guys did want the three categories of posts I listed before.

Guides- This role is responsible for writing and recommending resources for the sidebar. This includes keeping the sidebar updated and adding relevant information discovered or discussed by the Information and Discussion Role.

Holidays- This role focuses on information regarding holidays and modern celebrations. Posts will be required every holiday.

Information and Discussion- This role focuses on having regular discussion questions and/or informational posts available for members. This role also keeps track of news related to Hades and publishes related information.

So in conclusion, no "more mods", but we are going to do something else. If you want to create a post in one of these categories, draft it and then send it to me in modmail using the category as the title. I will read and approve the post (checking for sources and accurate information mainly) and then let you post. There will be a new mod-only use flair that these posts will be given. Does this sound cool with everyone?

Altars/ offerings Music means the world to me. It is only fitting that I honor the unseen one with sound. Here's a playlist I crafted, inspired by our very own Hades. Check it out if you feel called.

UPG Stories I finally got the tattoo!

Post image
29 Upvotes

For context - years ago, I had a dream where I met Hades in a field of asphodel flowers in the Underworld, and dozens of large black bees with iridescent purple wings were flitting between the flowers. First thing I saw when I opened up socials that day was a picture of a bee tattoo. I later found out there's a real life lookalike of them, the violet carpenter bee, and I promised Him that I would have it tattooed on me one day as a devotional act.

Fast forward many years, I still hadn't done it. But I opened a book to read a few weeks ago - Terry Pratchett's Eric - and the first paragraph went into detail describing Death's black bees. I took it as a sign to get the tattoo. Yesterday, I finally did! Right under my death's head hawkmoth, and with a few sparkles ✨

Discussion topic Question

So I have this friend who worships hades, I am not a devotee of him, but she says that hades can misinform you just to make you study about him, I am a devotee of Hecate and I consider myself a Hellenic, and I know that your kharis is personal, but I think she really is misinformed about this great god.

I told her that the gods don’t need our worship to exist since they are cosmic forces, but she thinks otherwise. She was also really disappointed when I told her most gods share some domains, and said that everything was a lie.

She told me she almost never does offerings, or libations, and if she does I know she probably doesn’t do it for hestia first.

I just want some advice so I can help her in her practice, she won’t develop a kharis if she continues like this, but I could be wrong.

I also told her that the gods can “evolve” to put a word with time, that they aren’t cassed in their domains and that they can get into a lot of things.

Discussion topic I’ve an question regarding him

I had his dreams so many times, and for a long time my primary deity has been mother Hekate, and I feel like she guided me towards him… currently I’m at a point where my whole life is falling apart , and finally the lord of the underworld has accepted me as his follower… my question is the dreams I had of him were kinda romantic even before knowing who he was… did anyone have a similar experience? Like he came to comfort me in my dreams as the perfect partner when I went through immense mental abuse…

Altars/ offerings My partner's grandmother passed this morning - then I found this in my altar garden

My partner got a call this morning that his grandmother on his mother's side had died. He left early to drive 5 hours to comfort his mom. I still had to go to work, so I unfortunately couldn't go with him.

I went out to my garden about an hour later to pray to Hades and Persephone, my main deities, and found a single brand new GIANT poppy in full bloom. The kicker? It's right over where I bury my offerings, and I didn't plant it there on purpose. My garden is essentially my outdoor altar.

It's unlike any of the other poppies in my garden that I did plant (my others are the orange California Poppy and smaller red poppies, in a separate garden). Could this large poppy have been mixed into the seeds that I did plant? Of course - but I truly can only see this as a sign that my gods are there for my family.

Worship 101/ Instructionals Do I need to dress alt/gothic as a Hades devotee?

Sorry if this is a dumb question! I’m a baby witch who is new in practicing Hellenic paganism and has recently became a devotee of Hades. My style in clothing usually tends to include lots of pastels and light imagery such as the sun, flowers, etc. These are not symbols with intentions behind them, I just personally like the look. However, I know that these type of items don’t align with the majority of Hades’ symbols at all, and I don’t want to come across as disrespectful to him or as if I worship other non-chthonic deities. Am I overthinking about this?

Discussion topic Am I supposed to work with Hades?

Post image

hi there, brand new account to focus on spirituality, tarot practice, and potentially incorporating deity work

I’ve been feeling a pull to Hekate for a few years, but my card pulls have been saying “not yet” (earlier today was a soft yes, but still not yet)

I asked my deck which deity, if any, should I work with, and almost immediately the king of pentacles flew out. I found another Reddit thread about which deities they associate with which card, and theirs lined up the King of Pentacles with Hades

then I asked for confirmation (0 the fool) and asked again for one more (2 of cups)

I’ve loved the concept of Hades for a long time, but for some reason, didn’t considered him in deity work

I want to be careful and thoughtful in my approach. if this does read as a “yes work with him,” I’d appreciate any direction or guidance

thank you in advance!!

Altars/ offerings Giving offerings as a picky eater

Okokok I know that coffee is sort of a traditional offering and is one of the most common ones. However I don't like coffee. My friends grandparents are trying to give away this coffee they have like boxes of because they don't like it and I thought it would be perfect, but it feels a bit weird to offer something that I just barely tolerate the smell of (coffee in general honestly).

I also know that offerings are a sort of sacrifice, sacrificing something like food or drink to the gods/goddesses. And it wouldn't be much of a sacrifice if it's something I don't like.

What do you all think? (Wasn't sure of the tag to use)

Altars/ offerings could this offer be good?

Hi, first of all sorry if the question sounds dumb, I'm not used to make offers, I usually pray before falling asleep because for me it's easier.

Unfortunately my cat doesn't have much longer to live, she's really old and has some problems, I honestly don't think she'll live past next week since the complications are getting too big and she's suffering a lot.

I wanted to offer some coffee grounds to Hades to make sure (?) That my cat can be safe and loved even after her passing, and to make sure she's welcomed.

I also wanted to ask if she could visit me in dreams sometimes, but it's something I'm not informed about and it could not be possible.

Is it a good offer? Unfortunately I don't have a job and my mom, even if she supports me, doesn't fully understand how this works.

Sorry if the question is dumb or I didn't correctly explain myself

Discussion topic Elaborate rituals or practices?

Hi guys!! I asked Hades for help with something very urgent and he came through. It is better than I expected and I want to give him thanks. Are there any special and elaborate rituals or practices that I can do for him? For now I offered him some frankincense smoke, strong earl grey, made a playlist for him and Persephone, and plan to feed the stray dogs at the local park. I would love to do something elaborate. I come from a Hindu background and we have elaborate poojas. Just wondering if there is anything Hades specific!

Discussion topic Hades and mourning

I am in mourning. I lost a very beloved cat that was a very special member of the family. it may seem silly but I loved her very much. Hades has been my strength as I grieve. I don't know where Sofia...my deceased cat ...goes now but I know that Hades is by my side helping me process my grief. He is helping me put things in perspective. I loved her and considered her more than a mere pet. She was a companion, a friend, a member of the family that just happened to have fur and four paws. I was close to her and loved her very much. He understands that and is guiding me through the darkness and pain. if it wasn't for Hades, this would be unbearable. Has any of you ever experienced Hades as a guide through your grief? would you share your stories? How has Hades helped you cope with a death in your life?

Altars/ offerings Crafted candle for Hades

Crafted this for my Underworld King, his last candle burned down so I wanted to do something special for the re-up 🖤 not perfect but I will get there! I carved in his sigil and filled it with red wax. Draped the candle in black wax from my candle for Hekate and topped it with red as well. Wrapped it in a bit of honey and pressed crushed mint and rosemary on top. I also put some dried narcissus flowers around his statue! Happy to say, he was very pleased with them both! What are some personal touches you do to things to honor him??

Discussion topic Question for this who follow the King!

I hope this is the right group for this, if not, I apologize and if you could lead me in the right direction, that would be awesome! How does he make himself known to you? Does he come to you during every session? His presence is STRONGGGG for me. He came to me in a dream before I opened myself to him, and even though I couldn’t remember my dream I remembered how important it was. So I asked Hekate. She confirmed it was him and he came forward. Said that he locked my memory of the dream away until I can keep the secrets of the underworld and the secrets for locked down from lingering low vibrational entities. And when I ask certain questions or say certain things, the flame on his candle will grow 6 inches. I shit you not. It’s a very stern and strong flame. Has anyone else had this experience with him?? Don’t get me wrong, I love it and I feel so safe but like, WOW.

One of my favorite hobbies is paint by numbers, so when I saw this one on NumberArtist I had to get it. I used the process of painting it as a sort of meditation practice and I’m going to hang it up above my altar.

Discussion topic Como funciona?

Eu cultuo apolo e afrodite, certo

Mas ai vc me pergunta:

What led you to worship Lord Hades? I'm going through a period of questioning and, currently, I'm questioning my veneration of Him. Any advice is welcome.

This will probably be seen as a dumb question so you can judge if you'd like but as of recent I've been interested in hellenic polytheism and hades and dionysus have peaked my interest and I've been curious on how to become a devotee of hades sorry if this is considered a dumb question
