Messages Any idea what this means?
My name isn't Matt and my face isn't visible so he didn't recognize me as looking like a Matt.

This is the kind of report that can accelerate a company stock collapse dramatically. Ningi Research is a short-selling research firm. Based on their analysis and interviews with former executives and employees, Ningi believes Grindr's paying user numbers are inflated, its product is deteriorating, its user base is increasingly alienated, and its long-term prospects are FUBAR:
In our opinion, Grindr is now a fundamentally broken business after leadership torched its only asset—its network effect—for short-term gain. The combination of a decaying product, fleeing users, questionable metrics, and the looming threat of a catastrophic margin call stands in stark contrast to Grindr’s premium valuation. We believe investors are exposed to significant further downside.
In short, Grindr's in a death spiral, and it's worse than the numbers show because they're also committing metric fraud.
Disclaimer: This is based on a short-seller's report. Short-sellers profit when stocks decline and have incentive to be negative. However, the allegations seem to line up with observable user experience and publicly available metrics. Do your own research.

Grindr's free tier has been severely limited to the point it's unusable, which not only affects free users but also impacts paying customers.
The free version of the app now only allows users to see 18 profiles, a significant reduction from the previous limit of over 100 profiles.
This limitation restricts the amount of interaction users can have, which can be frustrating for paying customers who are looking to connect with a wider range of people.
Grindr's ad placements are also a point of contention. Some users have reported that the ads are intrusive and lead to accidental clicks. This not only disrupts the user experience but also raises questions about the integrity of Grindr's advertising model, as advertisers may be paying for clicks that do not lead to conversions.
Grindr offers two paid memberships: Grindr XTRA and Grindr Unlimited. Grindr XTRA costs US $19.99 for one month, US $39.99 for three months, and US $99.99 for one year. Grindr Unlimited, the highest tier subscription, costs US $39.99 for one month, US $79.99 for three months, and US $239.99 for one year.
Grindr has over 13 million monthly active users (MAU) and an estimated 788,000 of those are paying customers you can see how it's easy for them to have generated $222.28 million revenue for the financial year ending June 2023.
Given the criticisms of Grindr's current model, it's worth considering alternative ways to fund a free tier of the app.
One that doesn't limit connection!
Grindr could work additional advertising into the grid, placing ads for products & services alongside profiles. Increase ad pricing by improving relevance — I don't want the Monopoly app, but I would be interested in new swim shorts.
While Grindr offers a platform for the LGBT community to connect, its current pricing model, free tier limitations and ad placements are completely ruining the experience.
Please, please address these issues.

Grindr seems to be locking received messages behind paywall now. This is a new low. Time to leave this (cr)app.
So i was messaging this dude on grindr and he asked for my phone number, because i’m stupid i gave it to him and he immediately blocked me, his profile wasn’t blank so his information seemed legit but i am worried about the information he could possibly get from me with just my phone number, should i be worried about this or am i overthinking this entirely. I’m planning on locking myself in the apartment when i get home and playing it safe the next couple weeks.
I have absolutely no idea who this is, I’ve never talked to him before, yet I woke up to this message on Grindr. All I really gave him was a couple paragraphs of words of encouragement and a pic full of details of the LGBTQ/Suicide Hotlines info. It was very unexpected and grim, I don’t know why a stranger chose to message me something this serious, but I just very much hope my words made some kind of positive impact to him as he never replied back to me even when he’s been active online. And all I can say otherwise is to please seek professional help if you struggle with your mental health to such a serious extent, and to speak out to those you love and trust about what you’ve been struggling with as they’d much rather hear about your problems than hear about your death. Please take care of each other within our community. It already can be very difficult and stressful as is with so much going on in the world.

There is no argument that is worth having on grindr. It's a hookup app. You aren't going to hook up with someone you're fighting with on grindr. If it's someone who you are mad is not responding to you, arguing with them is absolutely pathetic. You're basically begging for sex from someone who thinks you are disgusting.
If you are the person taking the bait and arguing with someone you think is disgusting, you're just feeding their pathetic insecurity and wasting time.
Talking on grindr is supposed to serve one purpose. Planning a hookup.
If someone doesn't respond to your face pic, there is no need to send a question mark. There's no question lingering in the ether that hasn't already been answered by his silence. He thinks you're fucking ugly and his penis will not work if that face is in his presence. This is really simple stuff guys. Please accept reality and keep things professional and efficient.

As time goes on my hookups are more rare, but often come in pairs (at least I hope, since the last one was sorta meh)

Anyone else experience this?
These are people who I have not tapped, messaged, never viewed, etc. Suddenly, they view me, even if I've been incognito for days.
Anyone know what could be going on, other than "Grindr is shit"?
Anybody else notice when they search different cities they all have profiles from Luca, Logan, Asher and some other profiles are consistently showing up? What gives? I assume these are all bot/fake profiles? Just wondering

I got a message from someone I was chatting with to see if I was interested in a party with multiple people, and they wanted to email me details. My suspicions were quickly up, so I sent my spam email that doesn’t have my real name attached to it. This whole thing rubs me the wrong way.
Now after reading it I am extremely suspicious but I am very new to this world, so I wanted to post it here to confirm. Certainly not opposed to verification, but everything about this screams scam to me

Ive been trying to create an account but when i do it says my account is banned. Ive tried multiple emails but no matter what i do it says “unable to create account” and this comes up. Ive never used Grindr before and only turned 18 this year in april. Ive been unable to get through to their support but i cant. Is there anything i can do or is it just time to give up.

Does anyone else pretty much assume if the block button is available as opposed to the hide button they are bots or scammers? Im at the point I just block as I rarely see one thats close.

Are we still not able to search our notes we've added to favorites? Or is there some dumb trick that I'm overlooking?
r/grindr • u/all_nice_stuff • 3d ago
Should I, like, block him and move on? Cause I'm honestly kind of creeped out.
