Good private keyboard that has support for Canadian English autocorrect?

Default one will only do British and American English, unexpected keyboard constantly spams me with a button for "click to install a dictionary for English (Canada)", and when I press it, the only dictionary available is American English

Any Canadians here have something they use?

Annoyingly, even the ones with proper Canadian English support always seem to prioritize American spellings in the predictions (e.g. typing "col" will predict "color" and requires typing all the way to "colou" before "colour" is ever suggested.

Phone Contacts?

Probably a stupid question, but how are you synchronizing your phone contacts between devices and profiles? I wasn't aware but it looks like Google used to handle it.

Which apps would you recommend 100% on a graphene os?

Hey guys, the eu and especially germany are coming up with a ton of new north korean like laws. I don‘t want to take part like a regular sheep anymore.
Which apps do you 100% recommend to get rid of google etc?
Also,my phone got stolen once already, I heard about apps that let you reset your phone remotöy via a message or something like that, how are those apps called?
If you have any tips when it comes to privacy, tell me!
Thank you :)

Is there a solution to Tap-To-Pay (like Google Wallet, or Apple Pay, etc) that works with US credit cards?

I'm determined to switch to Graphene once the new Motorola Razr flagship hits production, but I do not carry a wallet at all. Tap to pay is how I pay for everything currently, and I'm trying to figure out if there will be a way to continue to do so with Graphene next year.

I am okay with putting in effort, btw. If there are specific workarounds like using Shizuku or something similar, I am fine with doing so.

Any advice is helpful. Would also love to know if this is something the Graphene team is working on.

Thanks for help!

Can GrapheneOS replicate these features from a custom privacy phone?

Buddy showed me a custom privacy phone running on a Pixel and it has a few features I want to know if GrapheneOS can match.

  1. Decoy phone / hidden OS

Phone looks completely normal until you dial a specific number in the dialer which opens the private environment. Is there a way to do this with GrapheneOS profiles or something similar?

  1. USB wipe timer

If you plug it into a computer you have 30 seconds to enter a passcode or it wipes. I know GrapheneOS has USB set to charging only by default and has auto wipe on failed PIN attempts but is there something that specifically triggers on a USB connection?

  1. Auto wipe on failed PIN attempts

Does GrapheneOS have this natively? Pretty sure it does just confirming.

I already know GrapheneOS does full disk encryption, MAC randomization, auto reboot after inactivity, sandboxed Play Store and supports Orbot for routing everything through Tor. Just trying to figure out if the decoy dialer feature and USB specific wipe timer are possible because those are the two things I cannot find a clear answer on. Everything else GrapheneOS seems to match or beat at a fraction of the price.

HELP! (App still remembers me post reinstall)

Ok, so I feel lile I am going CRAZY. I have an app that I made an account on. I have uninstalled it, switched my VPN IP (proton), and enabled every single goddamn security feature, and after all that it STILL remembers the account I used. HOW TF IS IT DOING THIS? Any help would be appreciated because I am at a COMPLETE loss as to why none of that works and it's making me really comcerned as to the anonymity of EVERYTHING. How could it possibly still have an ID?

Location off
Bluetooth off
JIT disabled
Memory hardening enabled
VPN IP switched before reinstall from aurora store
no credentials provided when opening the app

Thanks all :(

Edit: it does not remember the account if I clear the storage and then disable it from accessing the network on an OS level at all. But then when I give it network again, even with a new IP, it still knows the account. How can this be?

How does GOS app sandboxing actually work?

Firstly, I apologize if this is an insanely simple thing to understand, but I wanted to double check here.

I'm just trying to know how much telemetry occurs if someone were to download, for example, those 'woman freezing please fix her house' or 'save the king from the lava' games.

I get that it likely grabs info from Google Play, but I just want to make sure that if I disable all permissions that it isn't going to log all of the scary stuff like location data (or does it grab that general info from Google also?)

I think I just want clarity to how sandboxed apps actually act when connected to Google Play.

Thank you!

Browser Compartmentalization

Does using different browsers for different purposes provide a meaningful improvement of privacy?

I am mainly wondering about web apps. The profile I use 99% of the time doesn't have any Google Services installed. WhatsApp, installed with the APK from their website, is the only non-privacy respecting app on it. Everything else is FOSS or FOSS-adjacent (like FUTA apps).
Anyway, that also means that I use web apps for social media like Reddit, X and Instagram.

Would it improve my privacy in any way if I would use different browsers for each of those services, or am I overthinking it?

Private Space and biometrics

Hi everyone! In new to GOS, started using it few days ago, so far loving it!

So I setup banking apps with google services in a private space. My banking app does support contactless payments and would live to use it, but in order to set it i need to allow app to get biometrics access. Pressing to allow it redirects to privacy section of the GOS Settings. And cannot find anything with biometrics there. My question is, are apps in private space allowed to access the biometeics?

*shop doorbell's ringing*

OK... I’d like to swap my mobile phone. I’d also like to break free from the tech giants, or at least give it a go. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as I thought. Figuratively speaking, I’m currently standing in front of the GrapheneOS shop window, looking at the display. I’ve already been to the /e/OS shop window. But the lights weren’t on there and nobody answered my questions.

Looking at a pixel 10 Pro 256 right now.

As this is more of a social media app with its potential for conversation, I’m taking the liberty of asking questions that may well have been answered before. I’m not looking for answers from 2023; I want information on today’s technology and app versions.

In my research into GrapheneOS, I keep coming across reports that the phone’s NFC functions might not work. This applies to banking apps, for a start, and perhaps to other NFC-enabled apps as well. Is this still the case, or does it depend on factors such as hardware and the banking app?

As I’m experimenting with smart home devices via Home Assistant, I’m also interested in this area. I read somewhere that push notifications might not go through, as they require a Google service to do so. Is this the case, and are there any software or hardware workarounds using apps such as WireGuard?

New Moto phone might allow PWM and refresh rate eye strain control?

Just wondering if having access to the hardware might allow the possibility to improve eye strain on the screens from things like r/PWM_Sensitive or refresh rate switching from saving battery?

Anyway to use my VPN across profiles.

So I'm using mullvad bit of course it seems I have to login on each profile so say I got 3 profiles it's like using 3 devices as far as mullvad can see, I've set a flint 2 router which is great but obviously no good when out the house, is this just how it is or is there a way to set vpn to cover the entire phone.

Phone rebooted and bricked after drop

Asking here in case this is a security feature - I threw dropped my phone last night and when I picked it up, it has the Graphene logo like it was rebooting. It loaded ok, but Wi-Fi and Bluetooth were disabled and wouldn't turn on (BT specifically kept crashing, though I didn't have a chance to check details).

The battery was very low, so I plugged it in and went to sleep. Woke up a few hours later and it was totally dead, so I moved it to my fast charger. Since then, it's been completely unresponsive (no display or power button response) but seemed to be mostly ok before I went to sleep.

Tldr; did I trigger some kind of fall protection feature in Graphene that may have bricked the phone somehow? Just trying to figure out what specifically might be broken and if I can repair it.
