Does anyone notice Android 17 runs more efficiently on P6?

Rarely heats up and fewer lags if any.

Any major issue, hardware or software with the pixel 10 pro? Wanting to upgrade from my pixel 8 pro and don't want a repeat of issues, might even switch to the s26 but really want to stay with Google.

Hi guys, I want to share my experience with the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL with you. I've been an iPhone user since I was little, and last year I decided to switch to Android by buying a Galaxy S25 Ultra, which I returned after a month. Then, after a year, I wanted to give Android another chance, and I got Google's phone. I can tell you, I think I've made the best purchase I've ever made. I'm very happy with the Stock Android operating system, it has so many features compared to the iPhone, the build quality is truly excellent, and it's spectacular aesthetically, and most importantly, it doesn't overheat completely.

Sure, I found editing apps like Edits or TikTok a little slower in general when editing videos, but honestly, that's not what will force me to go back to the iPhone. It has so many features that I'm more than happy with waiting a few minutes longer to render a video. The cameras are excellent. Compared to the S25 Ultra, the front camera feels like an iPhone, and the back one has incredible quality, which I didn't like on the S25 Ultra.

The apps are getting a lot better. Now that Android is working with Meta, I find Instagram uploads to be of good quality, but I've always used the camera app on my iPhone, too, so I don't really care. Anyway, guys, I hope this little experience has helped you make a decision in case you're thinking about switching phones.

For several weeks my Pixel 6 Pro has shown two clocks in my lock screen. Well today it decided to add one more. It now shows three. You can see it via this link: https://imgur.com/a/5HJckkp

The extra clock(s) block some functions of the screens. Sometimes I cant even unlock my phone because the fingerprint and pin-keyboard do not react. I also can't pick up calls.

What I tried:

- restarting the phone (works temporarily, clocks reappear after some hours)
- disabling always on display
- deleting cache of: phone, clock, pixel launcher, system ui
- disabling dynamic clock
- disabling "display over other apps" permissions for other apps
- updating my phone
- changing the clock style/size via the "wallpaper and style" settings

Any tip or advice is appreciated! Else I fear that my lock screen will slowly mutate into a clock screen...

I'm using a Google Pixel 8 Pro and I've been facing a very strange proximity sensor issue since around 9 May.

The pattern is always the same:

- The phone works perfectly for days or even weeks with no issues.

- As long as I don't restart the phone, everything is normal.

- After every restart, the proximity sensor gets stuck.

- During calls, the screen immediately turns black even when the phone isn't near my ear.

- WhatsApp voice notes switch to the earpiece as if the phone is against my face.

- Google Diagnostics reports Proximity Sensor Failure (T089) and third-party apps show 0.0 cm.

The strange part is that after a few minutes (or sometimes after trying different things like toggling settings or running diagnostics), the sensor suddenly starts working again.

Once it starts working:

- Google Diagnostics changes from T089 to Pass.

- Calls behave normally.

- WhatsApp voice notes work normally.

- The phone then continues working perfectly for weeks until the next restart.

I also remember one day the phone reached about 49.5°C while using LTE, Bluetooth, and YouTube Music in the car. I turned it off and let it cool before using it again. I'm not sure if that's related or just a coincidence.

Has anyone experienced this exact "fails only after restart, then recovers on its own" behavior on a Pixel 8 Pro? If so, did you ever find the root cause or a permanent fix without doing a factory reset?

My official case for P9 Pro XL, worn since launch, has really worn away in the corner and a bit broken off near the charging port.

For £20, I have definitely had cases in the past hold up better. Using soft plastic/rubber was a mistake.

How are yours doing and are you happy with the quality?

Last week it started not recognizing my PIN (that I've never changed), freezing on the unlock screen, resets took 1-2 hours because the phone just stayed black until randomly turning on.

I backed up my data and factory reset it the other day. The past couple of days it's been working great. PIN and touch screen work, fingerprint works, it feels like it's moving faster.

Today it started to not recognize my PIN again and I'm currently locked out of my phone. Is this is a known issue, or should I just go out and get a new phone tomorrow? I've had the phone since 2023 so it's not that old, but I'm wondering if something is corrupted on the inside. But if it was, then it wouldn't work perfectly fine for two days before going back to how it was.

Anyways, I'm sitting here after a reset with it telling me my PIN is wrong and I'm locked out because after a reset, you can't use your finger for the initial unlock, only the PIN.

When we could type a business' name into our phone app and it would automatically find the number. Like "Dominoes" or whatever else, it would just have the number pulled straight from (presumably) Google maps?

Man I miss that feature. There were so many cool features for pixels that just disappeared and I don't think there's really anything my 10 pro can do that any other phone can't do. Nothing I use anyways. It's just.. a phone. Nothing innovative about the software.

But my intent isn't to trash talk pixel, I've been with them since the 2. I just randomly remembered that feature and how much I wish it was still around. Fingerprint reader on the back is another one I miss. And how easy it used to be to use split screen. And squeeze for the assistant was cool as well.

This has been the worst phone I've had for service, constant service drops and no data with service.

Seems like there are quite a few posts on this, yet Google seems to acknowledge or fix it. I have 2 pixel 7s 1 pixel 8 and they don't seem to have the same issue.

Facing a weird software/hardware paradox on my Pixel 9a. My navigation gestures are completely dead (swiping up from the bottom or sides does nothing). If I turn on 3-point navigation, the buttons work intermittently.

Here is the catch: The phone dropped 2 days ago and the tempered glass screen protector cracked. However, I just ran the official Google Touch Diagnostics tool, and it says everything is 100% fine. I can draw lines over the entire bottom edge without any dropouts.

I've already updated the OS, cleared the launcher cache, and toggled gesture sensitivity.

Is it possible for a cracked screen protector to selectively block only swipe physics while still allowing single taps to pass diagnostics? Or is this a known Pixel UI bug? Thanks!

I just bought a refurbished Pixel 8, and when I was recording a video of me playing a song with acoustic guitar, the audio started clipping even thought it wasn't very loud. I previously had an S20 (was having battery issues, charging issues, and the casing was falling apart) and thought I would switch to Pixel for the better camera. But this type of issue never happened.

I'm just curious -- what would you all recommend for recording video/audio with a phone, without spending more than 200-300 dollars?

Hi everyone. Against my better judgement I have decided to purchase the Pixel 10 as my Pixel 8 is having a lot of problems (issues with messages, Bluetooth connectivity, and storage).

I am extremely clumsy when it comes to my phone, and it plummets to the ground multiple times a day (either due to dropping it or it falling from my pocket). I have had an OtterBox Defender on my last three Pixels and have not broken a single one. However, when I went to order the OtterBox this time, I noticed the major design change. I decided to buy about 8 different cases (including some no-name ones from Amazon) and I have narrowed it down to these three:

-The OtterBox Defender (still a contender, even with the design change, but I'm not feeling too confident about it)

-The Poetic Guardian (feels pretty similar to the newly designed OtterBox, but cheaper and purple)

-The Spigen Tough Armor (I like the cushion inside the case, but it's so slippery that I've already dropped it three times)

Which of the three would you recommend? I'm also open to something else if you have a better suggestion! I'm looking for something without a built-in screen protector, as I'll be adding a tempered glass one.

Her screen just started showing that green line out of nowhere. Same thing happened to mine about 6 months ago so I already jumped to the 10. Been really happy with it.

Can't justify dropping flagship money again right now so she ordered the 10a. Fingers crossed it holds up better than the 8 did.

Anyone else make the jump from 8 to 10a?

My Pixel 9 Pro Fold started to crash recently when opened/unfolded and then returned to closed. This happened with different apps and from simply the home screen with all apps closed. Recently it crashed and I was able to hold power and volume down to power the phone off with the screen open, but it wouldn't switch back to the outer screen. I just left it off and charged it for about 15 minutes and it did power on restoring use of the external screen. The next time I opened/unfolded, it crashed again and I can't get it to boot up. With the phone unfolded, it will show the G logo for about 1 minute and go back to a black screen.

I visited Google's support site for suggestions and was offered a free replacement. I followed the instructions provided to send my phone and got an email telling me I would have to pay $500! I took pictures of my phone in perfect condition before I sent it and never had any issues before this. They claim they found a camera issue (impossible since it can't boot up!). 1st tier support said the issue they claim to have found is still eligible for the free replacement. Since they haven't gotten any reply to their escalation requests to review the decision, my original phone is being returned to me and they can't do anything about it. Please help me escalate this to someone that can keep their promises.

So yesterday my 9 pro xl just decided to stop reading the sim/ has issues reading it.

I'm guessing it started in the morning cause when I was going to lunch I noticed the battery was at 30% and I hadn't been on my phone that much. Then when I started trying to use it my service was going in and out of 5g and no service so that's when I checked the battery use and found that the service was using all of it so I turned off data and even then it felt like the battery was going down really fast even with extreme battery saver on it died around 1pm and was on since 5am.

So when I got to my car and started charging it, it was barley holding a charge while just using android auto for music and also getting really hot.

When I took it to the tmobile store they tried putting a new sim card in, and we also waited for it to update cause there was one available, but it was still not working.

So I'm guessing it overheated and broke something but it sounds stupid for a year and a half old phone.

Is there any difference in transfer speeds between the 128GB version and the 256GB version USB wise? I know on the normal pixel 10 line if you get the 128 it only uses USB 2.0 as opposed to 3.2 I believe on the higher tiered storage phones. Is that the same case with the 10A as well?

I'm experiencing a strange issue recently when playing audio files from Google Drive on my Pixel 9 that I recently updated to Android 17.

Here's what happens:

• I start playing an MP3 from the Google Drive app.
• When I lock the screen or simply leave the app running in the background, the audio plays for a few seconds and then becomes completely silent.
• The playback itself does not stop: the progress bar continues normally.
• As soon as I unlock the phone and return to the app, the audio immediately resumes from the current playback position.

Here's what I've already tried:

• Google Drive is up to date.
• Battery optimization for Google Drive is set to Unrestricted.
• The issue occurs with both Bluetooth headphones and the phone's built-in speaker.

Has anyone else experienced this lately? Could it be related to this recent Android 17 update?
Is there any known fix or workaround?

I am switching from an iPhone 11 to a google pixel 8 pro and for some reason the transfer by wire will not transfer my contacts, my messages, or my passwords. There’s more than enough storage for it, and it has every permission it could possibly ask for. And I’m not paying for any cloud BS.

Short question: which has better speakers, 10 or 10a?

(Read on for a 10-page back story.)

Not worried about anything else: I'm disgusted how awful the speaker quality is on most of the newer Pixels and am desperately trying to find something to replace my practically dead 3a before its constant freezing and restarting turns into actual death.

When my trusty 3a first started slowly down, I reluctantly ordered the (then new) 7a, only to find the speakers were horrible and tinny. With input from a few threads here, I returned the 7a, got the 6a instead and was very happy with it for a while. Until I accidentally dropped it in the bath tub, where it was in lukewarm soap-free water for approximately 1.5 seconds, but nevertheless immediately died, never to revive. So much for the waterproof rating.

I returned to my 3a while awaiting a repair - but a few months following very expensive repair (nearly the cost of the phone) the 6a gave up the ghost permanently. Not thrilled with the repair shop either but that's another story.

The thing is, I really like listening to music casually at home on my phone speakers. I don't want to use headphones all the time for various reasons and I don't have external speakers or want the faff of them. [Disclaimer: I am NOT one of these horribly rude people who listen to their phone in public without headphones!!!! This is purely for at home usage.] I want to be able to pop in, play a movement of Rachmaninov or a Mahler song, as I do the washing up or chomp down a sandwich, and pop out again. So I like the speakers to sound quite nice.

I would have happily stuck with my 3a, but it's clearly on its last legs. I'm reluctant to replace with another 6a (even though I liked the speakers), as there were all the battery/recall issues with this series, as well as my own problems, so I feel that the quality of that specific model is dubious.

I compared reviews of 9a vs 10a, neither of which made me feel terribly optimistic about the audio - but since I read that 9a has better fidelity and 10a more bass, I went for the former. (I mainly listen to classical music so I like faithful audio and don't want an artificially amped up bass.) This was a mistake! 9a sounds unbelievably tinny. It's bearable for other instruments, although not nice, but the sound for strings is horrible. How can it be such a downgrade from early models like 3a? I listened to them side by side and the difference was colossal. Anyway, 9a is going back.

I ordered the 10a to replace it, trying to feel hopeful - and have just found that they sent me the 10 instead of the 10a. Clearly I need to flag this. I'm not sure whether I'll have the option to keep this handset, or whether I'll need to send it back and receive the 10a I actually ordered.

IF I have the option to keep the 10: are the speakers actually better than the 10a? On paper, getting the 10 for the price of 10a sounds like a good deal. However the main differences are the better chip (G5 Vs ) which doesn't matter to me as I don't do anything intensive like gaming or recording in 4K, plus the extra camera lens. This is admittedly cool and I'm sure I'll be impressed if I have it, but honestly I don't need it. Whereas I do care about the speakers. I also actually prefer the lighter weight of the 10a and find the camera bar on 10 weird. (Oh and 10a has a better selfie camera? Not that that's important to me either.)

So, if the speaker sound is better on 10, I'd want to keep this handset if I'm given the option. But if it's worse or honestly even if it's comparable I'd actually rather have the 10a for its lightness and comfort! Thing is, I can't compare directly. Did anyone have the chance to compare? Any way that I can tell? I don't really want to order a 3rd phone 'just to see' as I think my account might be flagged for excessive returns if I end up returning 2 phones....

So I was involved in a hit and run crash yesterday. Long story short, but I get out and start recording the scene and he takes off. So I go to the phone and call 911. When I did this, it not only ended the recording but didn't save any of the video. What the hell. Luckly I got a photo of his car and saw what he looks like and a live in a somewhat small town and through facebook found him a couple hours latter. But this definatly needs to change, maybe even have it as a feature where the camera turns on if you call 911. This is on my Pixel 10 PRO

There was nothing wrong with my phone until one day it stuck on the G logo bootloop. As advised on google support I took it to their authorized repairers in London 'Ismash' who said it was probably due to an update and that it was not reparable and that I needed to contact Pixel for a replacement. They noted there was no physical damage to the phone. Google adviser MJ agreed and said that Pixel would not repair the phone but replace it with a new model for this reason.

 There was no option for the bootloop issue but after much discussion I was told by MJ he would ensure that I would get a replacement but I had to pay for a cracked screen repair first. I didn't know what else to do so although my screen was not cracked I paid the £142.80 fee.

Once I returned the phone, the process was intercepted I received an email falsely claiming a cracked inner screen and a demand for a further £552.27
