I am unfortunately a chronic smoker and my s/o decided to surprise me with this about a month or so ago.
Felt like an appreciation post was needed. (Plus wanted to show it off)

I love the incredible amount of Kaiju that Final Wars have, but I would rather have fewer kaiju with longer kaiju battles, since most of them ,aside from the final one, do not last one minute and can barely be called fights.

Like no offense, if you grew with Toho and are fine with them looking this way, but I personally can’t like it. Their debut mivie had them look like… that, the second like edge lords eho tried too hard to look “sigma” with those leather coats (I mean the clothes look cool but still).

The only human aliens that I like are the Kryptonians from DC, for the Xians it would honestly feel better if they looked more alien, like I understand at first looking just like plain normal humans with an illusion to give earthlings a sense of trust and similarity, but for most of the time I really wishnthey just looked like the silver crustacean like creatures in the third image, or if they had a another alien design, be it insectoid or anything else.

That’s how I hope they’ll handle them if they appear either in the Monsterverse (one day really really afar) or another project.

I have to give it to Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. The people in that movie were beyond incompetent. So many mistakes and fails and they always got bailed out by random INTERPOL men. The robber at the beginning and the cruise ship scene were the worst offenders.

In Godzilla (2014), the scale worked because we saw the monsters relative to human architecture, smoke, and realistic physics. Sprinting through the Hollow Earth or empty deserts removes all reference points. When a Kaiju suplexes another Kaiju through a pyramid without any dust or debris physics, it stops looking massive and starts looking like action figures in a sandbox. We need more human-POV shots to bring back the weight.

Kaylee’s sudden passing really hits hard given that she was only 18 and had a promising future ahead of her. Wingard’s MV movies may have its flaws, but Jia was one of the many highlights of both films, and her absence will surely be noticed (I apologize if it’s too soon to think about this, but I really wonder how they’ll write Kong in the MV as Jia made him show his human side).

Neil’s passing also hits hard as a Jurassic fan and him dying before Supernova stings. I’m glad he was able to do a Godzilla movie, but that being his last movie just makes it bitter sweet in the end…
