So a few words from the mods...

Yes, we've been asleep at the wheel basically. Whether due to life or just plain laziness, we the mods have been away from the sub for too long. For that, we apologize for our lack of care that has resulted in the place looking like a Sabir Pirzada comic.

Due to this, we are planning to search for new mods to join and help out with the subreddit as well. This isn't an official announcement, just a general heads up that we are looking into how to spruce up the subreddit to working order and to let you know that we're looking to fix things up here.

Why is it that the writers have no idea what’s up with Danny’s spirit?

Originally Howard Mackie wanted it to be Zarathos. But then during Siege of Darkness they fight Zarathos so it’s a different spirit but then Howard Mackie never establishes Ghostie backstory and then Vale comes and gives Ghostie the identity of Noble Kale and has a backstory as the ancestor of Danny and Johnny who was sacrificed by his father like the bender no backside meme and also becomes ruler
Of Hell.

But then Mackie writes an issue of Spiderman and the noble kale ideinty is seen as a lie.

Then Aaron run and we discover Danny had his spirit exorcised and experienced withdrawal and then to get him loyal Zadkiel gives him a spirit. Then it’s claimed noble kale died so it’s different then in Brisson’s run apparently he has Noble or the 90s spirit and the two issues he loses it and it’s replaced by the Spirit of Corruption then he temporarily has it stolen from him. Zararhos then retrieved it.

In Midnight Sons it seems Danny SOC turned back into a SOV or he got his old SOV back. Then in Spirits of Violence it seems they confused the SOC first host Necrocois with the Spirit and it’s the child of corruption and then Danny dies and noble
Comes back again so he didn’t die. And known of this was explained

Just want to know if there's some recent media of ghost rider to read through. I tell myself im a fan of the character, but I dont really know his comics. So I figure a recent series for a "new" fan is what I need. Any recommendations?

Can someone help for a little episode ideas ?

It's been about 2 years sense I've started building a pitch for a Ghost Rider Fan Web Comic and I have hit a problem I had to reboot some of the Arcs and all and rebuilt them
but I need help with some of the episodes
originally I had AIM Hydra Ultron and Silver Samurai and other characters where going to appear but I had to remove them to keep the story more focused and tonally consistent
this are the premise and episode:
the story happens in modern day of 2020s in fictional city of West Woods New York a city cursed with supernatural and corrupt to the core. the main character is 17 year old Chase Grayson. an Aloof. Stoic. Rebellious. and Brooding boy and this altitude is exactly what made him popular in school until he is gunned down by demon-possessed criminals and left in a dumpster to die. Zarathos fuses with him. He becomes the Ghost Rider. now with a personal vengeance against this city corruption he with the help of his best friend Alberto "Bobby" Morales (his not related to Miles Morales by the way) tries to make the city safer and destroy the demons invading the earth while juggling High school stuff at the same time like being in Class F the bottom of the barrel class of school or trying to protect christine "chris" hanset (she's his childhood friend and love interest and the schools Goth Girl) and class F who are the closest to only people he actually gives a shit about outside off his own family

The idea of the tapes being the Rider's penance stare is so damn interesting to me.

I do think Ghosty could be great in a horror movie style, if done RIGHT.

Similar to Hulk, ignoring how Ghosty is usually made as a complete joke in the comics (nowadays at least.) he would be terrifying to encounter realistically.

And I mean actual protagonist.

Not playing second fiddle to Johnny.
Not some backseat passenger for the Spirit.

I mean Danny is the one making the decisions and experiencing the story at its key moments. It is NEVER happening. It has NEVER happened. I am convinced Dan is going to keep falling into obscurity over the years, slowly being buried underneath more Ghost Riders who are added to the story and readers like more. Johnny will forever remain ‘the Ghost Rider’ and so unless the IP itself implodes, Johnny will always have a place. Robbie is the modern Ghost Rider and he has connected to a much wider modern fanbase than Danny could ever hope to achieve, so I think Robbie has his future secured too.

Danny has ended up in a spot similar to Alejandra Jones where he will be used in ways that benefit the antagonists of Johnny’s stories, or acts as a ‘life sucks’ plot tool for the writers to torment Johnny with. And given the new ‘Noble Kale has somehow returned’ move Pirzada pulled off at the end of Spirits of Violence, I think we may just never see Danny again if Ghostie/Noble Kale is brought back because of ‘muh 80’s nostalgia bait!!’

The future is grim dark for Danny Ketch fans.

On the flip side, we can happily say that Danny won’t be jobbing out to anymore villains if he doesn’t exist anymore :) positive mindsets my friends, positive mindsets

I was reading Ghost Rider (2022) and got to issue #5.... Spoiler

To be clear, I'm a total beginner to comics, this one being my first one actually sitting down and reading. I know a decent amount about Marvel from the movies, some of the games like Marvel Snap and just from general cultural osmosis. I've been meaning to check comics out, and decided to start with Ghost Rider because I grew up loving the game 2007 game on PS2, and just in general he looks insanely cool. Looked up a couple reddit posts saying the 2022 issue was a good starting point, and I thought it would be a lot better than dealing with the headache of a billion crossovers with a billion characters I have no clue about like some of the older runs I hear have. That's a big worry I had, because I kinda just want a simple story with Ghost Rider as the focus, and not have to jump between reading different comics to understand who or what's going on, so 2022 was probably the best choice. The first 4 issues were great I thought, a very grounded dark story with Ghost Rider being the main focus and not really a lot of confusion. I knew there was seemingly some connection to past runs in continuity there but it wasn't apparent or distracting at all. And then in chapter 5, out of literally nowhere with no buildup, there's this.... Mario Kart race with all these unrelated Marvel Characters? Doctor Doom, Loki, Blade, Rhino???? Rhino???? The guy who runs through buildings and Spider-Man beats up? And they all have custom bikes? And Doctor Doom is shooting lasers? The chapter before ended with just Ghost Rider telling him to go somewhere to ride, there was no set up for ANY of these people in the slightest. I literally haven't been taken out of a story faster and with such sudden force, it was like being dropped in ice-cold water. Grounded story with Ghost Rider into suddenly Loki the god and Rhino are here. The only purpose any of this served is to introduce Wolverine cause I also read the next issue but like..... Why did any of that happen? Wolverine could've been introduced ANY other way to cut off the weird thing in his scar. Am I weird for feeling like this genuinely ruined it for me? Like I dunno if I want to keep reading past this point, this was SO ridiculous. I have no trust for a story that pulls this for fanservice and cameos.

Would love if any of you had thoughts about issue #5-6 specifically or recommendations for any other way of looking at Ghost Rider, this one I dunno if I'll keep going, and the older ones people recommend seem to have way more context and way more required reading before you can understand them with sudden crossovers that you need to also read. I'm interested in pretty much any character including stuff from DC as well but. Looking up people talking about issue #5 online I didn't really see any similar reaction to mine, it was a little shocking.

Reintroducing some of the old supporting characters like Sara and Stacy and given him new characters and a new power set with the Spirit of Corruption just for the intriguing new developments to be ignored in Percy’s and then Sabir’s run.

It seems like the only author interested in Danny as a character

Any "must reads" from Danny Ketch's time as Ghost Rider?

So title basically says it. I'd like to know if there are any all time great stories with Danny Ketch's run. I've read a few, like Road to Damnation, Volume 6, Robbie Reyes' solo run, Alejandra's story arc in the Ghost Rider comics and some of the current Johnny Blaze's run
