They had a TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE pin ball game! and a POKEMON pin ball game!

The kids had a blast!

Then we wandered around the store and I discovered comic books on the bottom shelf at the back of the game shop!

Jeff Bezos said his commercial endeavors would do more for humanity than any philanthropic endeavor.

It's hard to argue with that.

Philanthropy is important. But when you think about improving the lives of hundreds of millions (if not billions) of people over time, you do that commercially.

You can see it in the development of countries. When countries rely on philanthropy, you can have issues. When countries have thriving economies, that's how you really uplift everyone.

You see it in the GDP growth of China, the economic growth of the US, and the contrast with countries that have been more challenged.

The end goal is to lift a broad population into a better standard of living. That's best done through commercial innovation.

Philanthropy plays an important role - a huge role. But a more targeted one in terms of overall impact.

Both matter. But if you want to move the needle at scale, build something.

I realize today that after all this time, I really knew nothing about synthetic options. Shorts have been really hiding in these perpetually rolling them for five years, they are way further underwater than I thought and I knew they were fucked. Just take a look at GMU perspective and what they are paying for their synthetic positions that are wrong. The shorts are even worse.

Buy anyway of course this drove me down a rabbit hole as almost everything seems to do.

I learned a thing or two and it happened to align with something pretty significant that I’ve been watching for further evidence of.
