Well lads, I play my hurling in Derry so our reserve team is basically non-existent bar 1 or 2 championship games in September. I was midfield/wing back for the minors last year but I barely get on for the seniors and in training games I just get thrown into the full forward line nearly just to keep me out of the road. I'll admit my ability and standards have dropped from last year but I really want to get to a level where I'm atleast being used as an impact sub in the championship. I have never been approached and offered tickets by them and would really love to go to this years final (I have been at the semi final, quarter final and all home league games this season so I do attend regularly!). How should I go about asking them. Just emailing the secretary?

Its a well established tradition now which the players genuinely enjoy doing after a day playing one of the toughest games of the year and a night of heavy celebrations.

It is well set in stone across hurling, camogie, mens and ladies football and taken as a given at this stage as a job for Monday morning after the final but it would be interesting to know how and when it became set in stone.
