πŸ“£ Announcement πŸ“£ Let's Talk about AI...

Update Regarding AI-Generated Content & Subreddit Policy

Hi everyone,

We’re checking in to have a transparent conversation about the state of the sub and a topic that has become increasingly difficult to manage: AI-generated content.

To be clear: AI-generated contentβ€”including images, art, and textβ€”is strictly prohibited in this subreddit. Our community was built on human creativity and authentic interaction. We believe that allowing AI content dilutes the quality of the discussions and the hard work that many of you put into your posts.

The Challenge of Policing AI

As many of you have noticed, AI technology is evolving rapidly, making it harder to distinguish between genuine content and "high-quality" fakes at a glance.

We want to remind the community of our current situation:

We are a team of two: This subreddit is managed by just two moderators.

Voluntary Basis: We do this in our spare time because we love this community. We don't have a 24/7 "war room" to vet every single pixel of every upload.

Current Efforts: We have already implemented several behind-the-scenes strategies, including custom Automod filters and manual banning of repeat offenders.

Despite these efforts, some AI content inevitably slips through the cracks. It’s a game of "whack-a-mole," and frankly, it's a difficult one to win alone.

How You Can Help

Since we can't be everywhere at once, we are asking for your eyes and ears:

  1. Report, Don't Just Downvote: If you see a post that looks suspicious (e.g., "AI fingers," warped backgrounds, or nonsensical textures), please use the **Report** button. This sends a direct notification to our queue.

  2. Provide Context: If you’re certain a post is AI, feel free to send a message with evidence or an explanation. It helps us make faster, more accurate decisions.

  3. Be Patient: If a post stays up for a few hours, it doesn't mean we’ve changed the rulesβ€”it just means we haven't logged on yet.

The Bottom Line...

This is a space for humans, by humans. We are committed to keeping it that way, but we need your help and your patience while we navigate this tech-heavy landscape.

Thanks for being part of our community and for keeping it authentic y'all are the shit. πŸ₯°β€οΈ

🌻 Events 🌻 DIY for party - advice on reflexing roses

I’m a novice hobbyist and am practicing DIYing a few arrangements for a party, and I tried reflexing roses for the first time. What roses are best for this purpose and do you have any general advice?
The petals on the pink ones tore almost every time I reflexed - I made it work but want to avoid this. Is it possible they were not open enough? How can you tell when they’re ready?
The orange ones were much more pliable, though I prefer the more dramatic look of the pink. I couldn’t tell what kind of roses they were since the label at Trader Joe’s was vague. Are these garden roses?

🌞 Summer 🌞 To take out the pink dahlia or leave

Should I take this big pink dahlia out to allow more appreciation for the other flowers or leave ? It’s beautiful in person but makes it hard to pay attention to all flowers when photographed or looking straight on.

πŸ” Feedback πŸ” First attempt at some arrangements – please share your thoughts or feedback!

Made these for my engagement party: one larger centerpiece and six bud vases. Flowers came from a shop that works with local flower farmers and foragers. Flowers here include: delphinium, baptisia, ranunculus, wood anemone, and forget-me-nots, plus some eucalyptus I grabbed from the grocery store.

Was attempting to go for a less structured, wild appearance. I think the bud vases turned out better and the larger arrangement needs more focal or like, a larger accent flowers as there is some space visible.

How are these for a first attempt. I’m curious if with continued education/practice, I might be able to make something good enough to display at my wedding (like a welcome table arrangement). I found the actual act of arranging relaxing, so thinking making one the day before my wedding might be good for my mental health lol.

Thanks!

πŸ“š Guidance + Learning πŸ“š I’m gonna remake this arrangement, any tips to make it better?

This is an arrangement i made about a month ago experimenting with shapes, but i wasn’t satisfied with it so i’ll be remaking it soon. I’m planning on placing my hydrangea further in to make a proper crescent moon-shape, and i’ll be using a hydrangea with a more contrasting color to make that shape more obvious as well. Any other tips would be appreciated.

πŸ” Feedback πŸ” Looking for feedback on my first contemporary/modern inspired arrangement

Hi all! I work at a flower shop, where I mostly create more traditional arrangements. I wanted to challenge myself and try something more contemporary using a mix of flowers from my garden and other blooms I had available.
I’d love some constructive feedback. What works, what would you change, and how could I make it feel more refined or sophisticated? Thanks!

Thank you all SO much for your advice and pointers β€” I have been starting to stress over this a bit, so everyone’s kind words and help were amazing!

The first three photos are my current WIP (I feel like I could take out a few focal flowers). Photos 4 & 5 are my first and second attempts, respectively. If anyone has advice on how to improve on this, I’m so open!!

I did get new foam for artificial flowers. This new piece sits much, much lower, so people will be able to see lol! And I’ll have to go back to Michael’s for another stem of the greenery I used. πŸ₯°

🌞 Summer 🌞 Tiger Lillies

I’ve been walking by these peach colored tiger lillies at the farmers market for a few weeks now but wasn’t sure what to do with them. Decided to mix them with some gladiolus for a peaches and cream vibe and use the smaller yellow gloriosas with the dark brown center to pick up the brown on the petals. They aren’t my favorite colors but sometimes I like the challenge of doing something different.
