Discussion Bstock relistings sort of odd

Context...I've been actively buying from auctions since around 2014. Been finding it a bit odd past couple of years at the rate of lots being put back up for auction again. Even with the new penalty structure for non payments that came out roughly a a year or so ago. You would think with the penalty structure there would be less defaults yet I feel like it's only gotten worse with the amount of lots going back into auction days later. Has anyone noticed this as well? It gets quite annoying.

Discussion Buyer wanted to return due to "Just Didn't Like It" reason, got rejected, now says it's defective?

I sold an item a little while ago and the buyer opened a return case the next day after receiving it citing "Just Didn't Like It" as a reason. I do not accept returns and explained to them that I can't accept the return because the item isn't broken or defective. Here we are almost 3 weeks later and now he's saying that the item is broken and wants to return it. I think it's probably pretty obvious that he's just saying whatever he has to say to get a return going but I don't know if eBay would even side with them in a case like this?

Discussion "Ship From" address with USPS Post Office drop off

What should the "Ship From" address be when dropping off a prepaid package at a USPS Post Office? Can it be set to the address of the post office? The closest post office to me has a different zip code than my address because I live near the zip code boundary. The clerks are claiming they only accept prepaid packages with the same matching zip code. eBay allows you to have different "Ship From" and "Return" addresses, but I'm wondering if anyone can confirm whether it's permitted to use a post office's address as the "Ship From" address.

Whatever you want to know about flipping, no matter the question, ask here. Even if it's been covered 1,000 times before. Doesn't matter if you're new or old. If you stop learning things, you're probably on your way out.

This is an extremely newb-friendly thread. As such, any rudeness is to be reported.

Tip Time to start listing for Christmas!

Been listing some stale Christmas items on Vinted this morning that have been listed and relisted on other platforms for over a year; a table runner and an ornament sold in less than a half hour. Get those Christmas items up, and while you're at it why not start listing those Halloween costumes and decor too?

edit: just sold a bundle listing of two Christmas ties and a pair of Christmas dish towels, all listed less than 8 hrs ago. Tis the season!

Mod Post Weekly Help Me Sell This Thread

What would you like help selling? What is it? What are you trying to get for it? What have you tried so far? What will you try next? Hopefully we can help you out a bit.

Once the thread has been up for a while, please try to sort by New so you can try to help latecomers. The more helpful we are in this thread, the less often people will make their own threads for individual items.

Discussion Had someone try to scan me in real life. Ever happened to you?

I advertise I buy gold and someone met me at McDonald's with this ring they wanted to sell. They said they were given it by their grandma to sell so he could buy his fiance a wedding ring.

I look and it's not even marked gold. It just stamped mexico. He said his grandma told him it was 24k. Way too much backstory which throws up a red flag.

I had my test kit with me and tested it just to humour him. The second I put 14k test on the testing stone it vanished instantly. That's not a good sign. Even real 10k gold will hold a second or two.

Diamond tests bad as well.

There's a pawn shop nextdoor. I told him to take it there and if it tests fine I'll beat their offer.

Guy texts me they offered him $700. There's simply no way. Even if the ring was solid 24k gold the melt value was only $397.

So I call the pawn shop and explain what happened. They tell me no, no one has even brought in a ring today.

Just got my first shipping adjustment. The sad thing is all I had to do was add 3 oz and I would have been fine. I think this was an item I had already packaged up and I just said f it, let's see what happens.

eBay Gratitude for Flipping

I just want to share how happy I am I started this hobby.

Recently I was able to sell some stuff I found in storage at my work that most people would have just thrown away. Now I’m able to buy my staff whatever snacks their hearts desire.

eBay eBay - Sorting listings by items sold already

Is the option to sort items on eBay that have sold not available on the app? I can only seem to find it on the website and on eBay auto but not the regular eBay app.

Discussion Scared of being kicked out of the thrift shop if they know I’m a reseller

Hello!

I’m from France and I’ve been wanting to get into reselling, but resellers here get a very bad reputation. My fear is that I’m seen scanning objects / looking them up on EBay, and being a regular to the point where owners will kick me out.

Am I being paranoid or is it a real concern I should have? How do you source in public without being scared of people watching / knowing what you’re doing?

Discussion I don’t know a thing about cast irons and don’t have 5k to drop on them, but if you are into this category, would you have been interested in this find?

I know cast irons are good quality and not cheap, but wasn’t sure if this was a gold mine or something probably too good to be true. I don’t even have the cash flow or the space to entertain an offer, just curious what others think of a post like this.

Discussion Wanting to buy mixed pallets to resell.

How would I go about buying mixed pallets to flip and resell? I used to buy storage units and flip, resell them. But I’m trying to explore and expand into something more profiting without the hassle of throwing so much big stuff. Like couches, tv’s or burning dirty old things beyond fixing.

Discussion How do you stop being discouraged?

I've been selling full time for around 5 years now. I feel like over time buyers have become less understandable or empathetic. As if nothing is ever their fault. You can describe an item one hundred percent accurately, yet if they fail to read or see something, they blame you. If you sell a brand new item that's sealed and it stops working the next day, that's your fault, as if you somehow personally made it for them in Shanghai China. If you sell something with a chip and put chipped in the title, the description and the photo has a red circle showing the chip, they just saw the low price and hurried to buy it. Oh it's chipped? They overlooked it, but they want refunded anyway. Mailman dropped kicked the package and now it's broken? You didn't pack it well enough even though you you boxed it up very well.

I've used eBay selling part time for roughly 15 years and it seems like no one accepts any responsibility anymore. It's always the sellers fault. It's really getting outta hand.

Discussion NJ STORAGE UNIT HELP

hi! im not sure if this is the appropriate sub reddit for this question, and id just like some help! any help!

so my dad passed away recently and he had a storage unit in denville,nj. it was put up for auction in 2023, they are calling me tomorrow with more info. he was homeless and in active addiction for his last few years, so it makes sense that he didnt keep up with the payments.

obviously, ive lost hope that i would recover anything but it doesn’t hurt to ask if anyone on here maybe bought it or something.

it would have been a lot of clothes, maybe fishing poles, baseball gloves, lots and lots of books (civil war specifically).

any help is appreciated, or maybe other subreddits that i could post to. thank you.

Discussion Best Batch Background Remover

What are you guys currently using for background removals? My annual unlimited Photoroom subscription expired yesterday and the new plans with batch limits are way too expensive. Apparently, there was some type of deal that they offered on Reddit months ago to grandfather in existing customers to higher batch limits, but I didn't know anything about it and the offer expired. I'm looking for something that doesn't lag and take forever to load.

eBay Has anyone actually won an eBay return case like this?

Buyer returned a $250 keyboard using an eBay provided FedEx label. The box arrived damaged, and FedEx even had to relabel it. I took photos before opening and recorded a continuous unboxing video. Inside was only random packing material and there was no keyboard at all.
I’m planning to have eBay step in. Has anyone had a similar situation and actually won? Any advice on what helped your case?

Mod Post Weekly Haul Thread

What'd ya get? How'd ya get it? What do you plan to do with it?

I'd like to encourage people to revisit this thread occasionally for as long as it's still on the front page. Sort by New so that latecomers aren't left out. Obviously, if this is a few pages back, you're probably better just waiting for next week's thread. You'll see that I've also changed the title to Weekly instead of Weekend so people don't hesitate to post what they found on a Wednesday.

Further, if I see haul posts outside of this thread, I'm removing them. Feel free to report them if you see them.

Discussion Does this storage unit up for auction look staged?

First off, the golf clubs are right in the front, with one club sticking out and no sight of any other club. Every photo is from below waist level too, so no way or seeing the top part of the bag. You also can make out who the football is signed by cause that part of all is sticking out. The Barbie collectibles too are just showing the base but no what of telling what they are. Why would they be stacked like that with all that space left? This just seems suspicious.
