S Do Pedestrians still have right of way?
I walk a lot but this time was one of the worst moments where two people turned and rushed me when I was trying to cross. This was at a park too where kids would even walk to. Drivers honking, drivers speeding past and not caring if they hit someone or not. I literally had to RUN across this time to avoid getting hit. Because one of the cars was an inch from me. I tried pointing at the walk light and no response from them at all either.
This wasn’t the only time this happened to me too. Postal service truck tried to turn when my mom and I were right next to them and there’s a sign that said yield to pedestrians that people seem to like ignoring. Years ago, a young woman literally yelled at me and my mom that she didn’t have a stop sign so she thought she had the right to turn into us (week later after that incident a stop sign was put on the road)
Many, many times this has happened and I don’t feel safe walking anywhere anymore. I don’t have a car or a driver’s license and I do have a bike that now I’m afraid to ride. I think the only time they will care is when they get caught and taken to prison for doing so.
