General Adam Savage talks good and bad 18650 batteries(the cells that make up your scooter battery pack), with some reps from a company who CT scanned and discharge tested thousands of 18650 cells.
Some good info here about the physical and capacity differences of all types of battery cells.

General You guys said it was going to happen sooner or later, and it did. I had a crash. A minor one, thank heavens.
My helmet really saved the day. I banged the back of my head really hard on the pavement. It really would have been bad if I weren't wearing my helmet. My gloves too, I've been wearing some "riding" gloves with hard plastic knuckles and my right hand got scraped up on those plastic knuckles.

General Can we have country of post differentials please?
I've been off here a long time as too many of the posts were USA orientated and therefore a lot to wade through to find a few scattered European landmass and speed restricted scooter posts.
Has much changed in that direction in 12 months?

Buying advice Advice on buying a new scooter
I bought an Electric scooter a while ago on Amazon for around 200 and it works great, my battery typically lasts around 2 hours and lets me go about 13-15 miles in one go. I came into a little extra money and I was looking to upgrade and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations, mainly I’m looking for something that I can ride for longer without it dying on me. My budget is around 600 dollars. (Also I weigh around 180 I know weight is a real factor in range)

General Say you had to ride on ice & got protective gear Diy studded wheels & ice spikes on shoes, is possible to ride in a way, that you can catch yourself when the wheel slips? I can run on ice even downhill with a running slide cancel, can putting your foot on the floor. 3 point of contact on turns work
Sorry if its a rule 3 break. But say you going 10 km or like 6-7mph...Can you do the trip safely?
Its a request on if innovations on riding on slippery surfaces is advanced enough or not?
Running on ice is dumb yes. But my technique allows for me to slide cancel when i slip, and body position to prevent falling when you do slip. Its works on icy stairs and slopes. So its not like im stupid enough to ride a scooter normally in that icy surface, just if alternative way of body position allows you to not "fall" while slipping, basically sliding...
If its not, ill have to invent it myself or just walk alongside it, but ofc, walking with a scooter makes my ice walking techniques difficult since you have some heavy clunky shit to roll around which will roll over ny feet.
I know dress for the ride, so i got gear for that tumble, but i want to make diy studded wheels on ice. And ride in that scenario. Have you ever caught up your purposefully knowing a surface is bad while turning. Or you just gonna eat shit no matter what.?
Like yes, regular shoes would slip on ice, but i was thinking the shoes with the spikes on the bottom or like those big spike ice mountain crampons shit.. Can i stabilize a sliding scooter with a well place foot on the ground, depending on my turn?
Its less about reacting to an accident, and more like can run on a ice rink and slide well just how would you on foot, by positioning your feet already prepping to slide...
Kind of racing on icy surface. If i already know a surface is icy...Can i prep my leg and feet position for the slide (not to be confused with sliding into a graceful fall, but just, upright slide like drifting?
I know you slide out when your back wheel stops to abruptly by being too heavy on the back brake handle on slippery surface, but when you going 20 km per hour, whats your best ways to bail out before the scooter slides out from you, do you jump off or put a foot on the side you are turning into?

Buying advice Avoid Ausom scooters
There is a reason Ausom scooters are priced so low, everything comes with a compromise and in their case it’s customer service. They are unresponsive, attempted cash bribery to not return an unopened scooter, and then charged additional fees amounting almost half the scooter cost for an unopened scooter.

Buying advice Any good recs?
Hi! I'm going to college soon and my classes are like a 40 minute walk from each other and I want to save time and my legs as well... Ive been looking for some escooters on my own but each one has very mixed reviews.
I hope you guys can help me. My budget is under a thousand dollars... I just need a reliable scooter that will not break down in a month, maybe tire suspension and a removable battery? (If removable battery isn't applicable then light weight hopefully? My campus doesn't allow escooters in dorms. Plus, I weigh around 80 pounds so my muscles aren't the most prominent...)
If you have any questions regarding my situation please let me know and I'll answer 'em. Thank yall!

General I built a free navigation app made specifically for E Scooters and just launched it on the Play Store
Been working on this for months and it finally went live. ScootNav is a navigation app built from the ground up for E Scooter riders — turn-by-turn directions that avoid highways, battery range planning, weather built into a ride planner, and a global leaderboard where you compete with other riders worldwide.
What makes it different from just using Google Maps — it actually understands how scooters move. No more getting sent onto highways or roads you can't legally ride on.
Free, no ads, no account needed unless you want the social stuff. Just downloaded and go.
Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scootnav.app
Solo dev project so any feedback is genuinely appreciated.

General Are cops this lenient with hyper scooter riders where you live too?
l ride an InMotion RS Jet around in a suburban area in Maryland and I pass cops almost every time I go out. Today I was moving with traffic at around 52 mph and one passed without doing anything. Another time I was doing about 35, and I’ve had several other cops see me without bothering me.
I always wear a full black outfit/gear and a full-face motorcycle helmet.
I’m very curious: are police around your area the same with fast scooters or EUCs, or do they usually stop people?

Buying advice Ninebot KickScooter Max G30LP secondhand
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Speaking with a seller about a ninebot scooter that looks to be in great condition. The scooter has 500 miles on it and was purchased 3 years ago. They are transparent about a part of the wheel falling off - which they said can be glue back on. Is this a serious part or is there a fix?

Scooter images Segway ninebot f2 question
Now I have a Segway Ninebot f2 pro. And I’ve replaced the cover with the charging port on that covers the controller. It has two screws on the top to hold it down, but then has two long thin screws inside the cover to hold it to the main frame. Now someone tell me please what screws they are because I’ve been looking everywhere and I can’t find the name of them.

General Rain? lol
What, if anything, do you all carry in case you get caught in the rain?
I’ve been carrying packable rain jacket and pants in my backpack but am trying to lighten what I carry everyday.
Especially since rain is pretty rare where I am.

Buying advice Current G30-Like Options?
Hello, all,
Looking to get an escooter for getting around campus. I'll be riding about 15 miles per week, and would like to store it in my car overnight and take it into the house to charge on the weekends (so aiming for 30-40+ miles advertised range).
I'm considering a used Ninebot G30 I see on Facebook Marketplace for $300. I've not contacted them yet so do not know the age or overall condition (other than non-working tail light). The main reason I'm hesitating is the lack of suspension and the comments I've read about it having slower acceleration than more modern options. The price is certainly right compared to the newer Ninebot successors ($700 for the F3, $1050 for the G3 Max). Ideally I want to spend under $800 USD, so $300 would be great.
So, to my question:
What are current options on the market that are similar to the Ninebot G30 in the following ways:
Lots of aftermarket parts availability (so repairability after the manufacturer drops it. No idea how the F3 and G3 aftermarket parts availability is in comparison). This'd come as a result of how many units were sold. Curious if there are any current models on track to be similarly popular.
Durable / reliable (sounds like the F3 and G3 Max have more plastic as part of their construction, whereas the G30 is reportedly built like a tank).
Good waterproofing (sounds like the electronics are sealed on the G30 so even if water gets inside it should still be good, whereas I've read that other manufacturers often don't). I will be parking it outside all day, and would like an option that does not require a cover in the event of an unexpected downpour.
Note that it doesn't necessarily have to be from Ninebot. Seems like they have the lowest number of detractors of any of the manufacturers, so have just been leaning toward them.
Thank you

Tech Support Help me understand if this is normal ?? Please see details below...
I bought this used scooter 1 week ago and ive noticed something that makes me a bit stressed .. i went for a ride on sunday, battery was at 61% when i got back home ... today (wednesday) when i start it up to go for a ride the battery % was down to 56% which from what i can see online is totally normal .. i got back home with 37% remaining on my battery and i shut it off for the day ... 5 hours later i start it back up to adjust some settings and see that my battery is now at 28% which is a 9% loss while sitting with power off.. should i be worried or not?
BTW from the specs i can see on the app my battery is "extremely healthy" so this is making all this confusing for me 🙄

Buying advice Need some advice from long-term owners.
I'm choosing between the Ausom DT2 Pro and the KuKirin G4 (2026).
I'm 190 cm (6'3") and about 116 kg (255 lbs), so I'm close to the G4's rated weight limit.
Is anyone around my size with 2,000+ km (or 1,000+ miles) on either scooter?
Have you experienced any issues with the frame, suspension, folding mechanism, battery, or motors?
Most of my riding will be on asphalt and paved roads.
I'd really appreciate feedback from people who have owned either scooter for a long time.
