General Humidity too high?

Is anyone else’s humidity higher than usual inside the house, with all the rain we’ve been getting?

My thermostat shows 75% humidity inside the house, and it’s usually much lower than that.

Just wondering if my humidistat is broken and/or if anyone is experiencing something similar.

Question Make my summer vacation awesome!

Heading to Edmonton with my family (July 24- Aug 1) and would love some recommendations on things to do there. I grew up in Edmonton but all I remember is Barry T’s and Goose Loonies. My family is very excited about seeing The Mall but I do not want to spend a week at the damn mall!! Any ideas on where to have an amazing dinner and some nice lunches would be appreciated as well. Thank you.

General As a Calgarian, I just wanted to let you guys know that I've travelled all around the world and almost always, people have heard of Edmonton but never heard of Calgary.

Not sure why. Calgary has a bigger population, the stampede, closer to Banff national park. But it's Edmonton people know about. Thought you guys would want to know that.

Question Has anyone seen this in Edmonton?

I tried Lucky 97 to no avail, wondering if anyone has seen this stocked anywhere? It's a salted lychee drink and it's almost like lychee Gatorade (imo). Let me know if you've seen it!

Question Store bought chicken breasts

I have been adding chicken into my salads for the last 6 months or so. Some store bought chicken is great, some are chewy and the quality isn't as good. I used to be a fan of Walmart maple leaf prime fresh chicken breasts, but they bumped up their pricing.

Where does everyone buy their chicken breasts from and what is the best quality/taste for the pricing out there right now?

Question Where can I buy worry stones?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey! My dad's worry stone broke, I originally bought it for him while in Golden,BC. It was like an Amethyst. Wondering if there's a local shop I could get them without ordering online (I like to feel before I buy)

If you don't know a worry stone is a small rock with a sort of thumb shaped groove in it to relieve stress.

Question Tourist recommendations (Jasper/Banff)

Hello. I'm currently visiting Edmonton and the surrounding area. Our group is composed of people with very bad knees and not a lot of patience/appreciation for nature. I'd like to change their view a bit with a small trip through the Banff/Jasper area.

I'm looking for a 1 day trip, the route passing through/close to Calgary is a welcomed addition but not necessary.(Car available)

Does anybody have any suggestions that would help me convert these people without physically exhausting them?

So, here are 2 photos of what construction of the valley Line West looks like from 102 Street station, and it seems like they are digging up the ground to place more tracks, and as you can see the frames for the tracks.

Question Oilers game, guys weekend, first time visiting advice

We are planning a guys weekend anchored by an Oilers game this fall and would appreciate some local advice on things to do. We are a crew in our 40’s, and beyond hockey we like to drink beer and whiskey, eat meat, and talk about hockey. Happy to reciprocate for anyone who wants to plan a trip to Seattle to watch the Oilers destroy the Kraken. 😂

Question Air conditioner quote comparision

I’m currently looking to install a 3-ton heat Air conditioner and received a quote today with three main equipment options. They are all using the new R-454B refrigerant.

Option 1: Moovair M-Series

Price: $6,500

Outdoor/Indoor Unit: MSCEA36R2AM1 / CCHMA36BNCAS1

Specs: 16 SEER2 | 58 dB sound rating

Warranty: 10-year parts, 5-year labor (requires maintenance every 2 years)

Option 2: Lennox Merit Series

Price: $7,500

Outdoor/Indoor Unit: ML18XSP1-036 / CX38CT-30/36C-71

Specs: 17.2 SEER2 | 57 dB sound rating

Warranty: 10-year parts, 5-year labor (requires annual maintenance)

Option 3: Lennox Elite Series (Inverter / Variable)

Price: $8,500 (+$2,000 over Moovair / +$1,000 over Merit)

Outdoor/Indoor Unit: EL18XSLV-024/036 / CX38CT-30/36C-71

Specs: 19 SEER2 | 54 dB sound rating (Variable-Capacity Inverter)

Warranty: 10-year parts, 5-year labor (requires annual maintenance)

For anyone running the EL18XSLV, how has your experience been with comfort and noise levels? And is it worth the extra money?

Appreciate any insights or advice on which direction to go!

Discussion Planning to rent a vehicle at National @ Yeg airport. Am I able to leave my personal vehicle at the airport for 2 days when I take the rental outside the city?

Hey everyone, I am going to be going on my first road trip for work. As I don't want to spend on an uber there and back from the airport, I was wondering if it's safe for me to leave my personal vehicle somewhere at the airport for 2 days while I take the rental out on the road? I would really appreciate any alternative suggestions if anybody has one. Looking for the best free or cheap option. Thanks!

Edit: I am an employee at National so I have a discount. Just not sure about this location.

General My failed attempt at visiting RAM

I know I'm super late to the party, but whose genius idea was it to move RAM downtown? I was so excited to take my kid now that she's starting to get really curious about the world, dinosaurs, history etc. I became a little less excited when I remembered that it's now a new building down town (the old location has such a special place in my heart). But I thought it will still be great. We'll try it out. Well damn, between the $40 parking, filth, and construction we were out.

I park, as soon as I get out I'm hit with this filthy stench. I go to the parking meter, I'm hit with the second "surprise" of almost $40 for just parking. Then on my way back to my car, I stop a guy from backing into feces (akward, but couldn't let him consciously do it, he was grateful). Then I thought I should drive around and look for a better spot, well I'm pretty sure I traumatized my kid by driving only like a block north and getting stuck in that little encampment area because of all construction.

Probably my fault for not looking where to park before hand, and doing more research of where not to drive. And many people will give me sh*t for driving and not using transit (which I actually can't due to health issues). But nonetheless, I'm mourning the pre-covid downtown and the old RAM.

Question Downtown gift cards

Has anyone purchased one of these and had luck using them outside of dining week? According to ths Downtown Edmonton website they are usable anytime, but 2 different restaurants (XO Bistro and El Furniture) have told me no, its only for dining week.
