Announcement The purpose of this subreddit

Hello everyone! You may have noticed some major changes happening to this subreddit, and I'm happy to say that /r/DiagnoseMe is finally ready for business. However, I would like to clarify the true purpose of this subreddit;

First of all, this subreddit is NOT a replacement for a doctor. You should not, in any way, avoid seeing your doctor or alter the frequency of your doctor visits because of anything said in this subreddit. If there is a concern you would have previously gone to the doctor for, please do not hesitate. This subreddit is here for informal second opinions, minor problems that you wouldn't go to the doctor for anyway, and ease of mind.

The main thing to remember is to use common sense. If you are having severe pain after a surgery or something of the likes, please go to the doctor and do not post it on Reddit.

If you are not a doctor and are posting with information, please clarify that you are not a doctor (typing "Not a doctor," at the beginning of your comment is enough.)

Please take the time to read the sidebar before posting. Thank you, and welcome!

Bones, joints, and muscles what is wrong with me

I am a 21 year-old woman.i have been noticing changes in my body, especially related to my blood vessels, bruising, muscle symptoms, and metabolic health.”
Main concerns:
My biggest concerns are:
New spider veins / small visible blood vessels
I started noticing many small spider-like capillaries on my legs and some other areas.
They appeared more noticeably over the last few months.
I am worried about whether this could be a vascular problem, connective tissue issue, vasculitis, or a clotting problem.
Bruising
I sometimes get bruises without remembering significant trauma.
I have noticed multiple small bruises appearing around the same time.
I am concerned about platelet function or clotting problems.
I was referred for hematology evaluation.
Muscle symptoms
I have muscle pain, especially in my legs.
Sometimes when a muscle “knots” or tightens, it becomes painful.
When I stretch/tighten muscles, I can feel small tremors or twitching.
My left side feels worse.
I also sometimes have a restless-leg-like feeling.
Dizziness
When I crouch down and stand up, I can feel dizzy, like my head becomes heavy.
My blood pressure has sometimes been low (around 85/65 previously; later around 100/70).

Medical findings / diagnoses I have been told:
Insulin resistance
I was diagnosed with insulin resistance.
My endocrinologist prescribed Siophor (metformin) XR 500 mg.
I was advised to follow a strict diet for around 3 months.
I eat according to a schedule (multiple meals per day).
I am trying to control carbohydrates and blood sugar.
Vitamin deficiencies
I was told I have:
Low folate (folic acid)
Possible B-group vitamin deficiency
I am taking B vitamins.
i was told elevated homocysteine may be related to vitamin deficiencies.but i dont think homocysteine is that high, it cant cause all of this and my doctor said bruising doesnt have to to anything with spider veins. so two symptoms are not connected. bruising is green and it appears faded and then it slowly starts to get dark, it slightly hurts when i touch it . my doctor orders vwf antigen and vwf factory.

PLEASE HELP ME

Men's Health First time poster: Fiance has been bedridden for a month, why?

Primary symptoms:

-upper chest tightness, mild sharp pain

-thick breathing

-adomen discomfort

-extreme/ overwhelming fatigue

- heart rate ranging between 90-150, when he's at rest his average is 100 bpm (his normal before all this around 74 bpm)

- upper chest weakness, struggling to distinguish between pain and anxiety

- in the beginning the carpopedal spasms for 3 days

- steam seems to make his heart rate increase

- limb buzzing/tingling feeling when "episodes" occur

- when going to the bathroom his heartrate increases to the 130s to 140s

- trouble sleeping/waking up panicking

- T-Wave abnormalilty

I'm here asking about my fiance (29m 5ft 11 inches, 195 lb). A month ago he randomly developed herpes on his face (told it could have develop due to stress?). He was prescribed valtrex which caused him to have a bad allergic reaction that caused his face to swell up pretty bad. His eye was still swollen until about 3 weeks ago.

3 weeks ago exactly my partner partook in some marijuana edibles (sativa), he's everyday user but normally takes hybrid or indica. That night we were talking and he suddenly went into a carpopedal spasm that lasted about 20 minutes, shook it off and went to bed.

He went to work the next day and had another one, coworkers called 911 and he was sent to the hospital. The hospital didn't do any testing and dismissed him from the lobby with and antivan saying he's just anxious.

Next day he has another spasm, I call 911 as his lips were tightening up a lot along with the rest of his body. Parametics arrive and say he's fine it's just anxiety but go to urgent care to be sure. We go to urgent care, they did an ECG that came back normal, no was 125/85, 106bpm, temp 97.2 F. They did a blood test that would come back on a few days. Test results indicate normal thyroid, high white blood cell count (14 x10e3/uL), high abs neutrophil (10.9 x10e3/uL), high abs monocytes (0.9), high calcium (10.7 mg/dL)

That evening we ended up in the ER because he said his hands and feet were tingly and going numb. ER did another ECG stating that he had a T-Wave abnormalilty. They did blood tests that states his potassium was low (3.2 mmol/L), BUN/ Creatinine was low (7). Thyroid came back normal. ER dismissed him with anxiety and gave him Xanax and buspirone. Both seemed to make his symptoms worse. Buspirone specifically seemed to cause insomnia, stomach distress, heavy chest pressure, and increased anxiety.

After those 3 days of carpopedal spasms they seemed to stop but he would still have "episodes" where he would get full body weakness, tingling in limbs, and heartrate would skyrocket to the 150s. He can function for about 10 minutes and then needs to sleep for the rest of the day. This goes on until our next ER visit a week after the first due to chest pain. At one point his bp was 154/101 but came down after Antivan was administered 4 times. Blood test  states high white blood cell count (12.5 K/uL), high red blood cell count (6.07 M/uL), high hemoglobin (18 g/dL), high abs lymphocytes (4.9 K/uL), high monocytes (1 K/uL), Low BUN/ Creatinine (9). Did another ECG that stated he had a T wave abnormalilty, did a chest X-ray said he's fine, troponin came back normal. Given Antivan, blood test normal, sent home with anxiety and Klonopin that doesn't seem to be doing much.

Got him an appointment with a PCP who also did an ECG and saw a t wave abnormalilty and said she might have heard a flutter when listening to his chest. We have referrals for cardio and psych but those appointments are months away.

This could be anxiety related, I think that could be part of this but my partner hasn't been able to function as a human being for about a month now and am not sure how to help him get back to the norm. He has doctor's notes for work right now but those won't last forever. I just don't really understand why he isn't bouncing back at all.

Is there anything else we should be checking? Are there things I can do at home to see if they help? Are there specific questions that I just can't think to ask?

(Based on Google research we've come up with the possibilities of AFib,  low vagal tone, dysautonomia, hypocalcemic periodic paralysis, transient physiological stress, intrinsic cardiac considerations (electrolyte imbalance?) . None of these have been tested for yet)

weird white line on inside of finger?

Post image
0 Upvotes

i was just sitting on the couch eating a midnight snack (yasso chocolate fudge frozen yogurt) when i started to get a burning sensation on the palm side of my middle and ring fingers, but more so on my middle finger. when i checked with my flashlight, since it’s dark, i saw this weird white line that almost looks like an old scar, but i don’t have a scar located there. upon touching it, the discolored skin felt a bit raised and harder than the rest of my finger

for context, i have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome/dysautonomia, sjogren’s disease, frey syndrome, and harlequin syndrome.

when i looked up what was going on with my finger, google said that it could be because of raynaud’s, but i’ve never experienced this symptom before, even after eating other cold foods like popsicles, ice cream, or frozen yogurt

any ideas are helpful!

Gut, bowel, and stomach Options for my symptoms.

I've had increasingly severe symptoms for about 6/7 years. Left sided abdominal pain for 7 years that is bad all the time but worse around my period. Worsening fatigue and brain fog that so bad I'm barely functioning. Frequent peeing. Either liquid poop literally 15+ times a day, or I don't poop for a week, no middle ground. Periods used to be very heavy but they're getting lighter and shorter. My blood pressure is on the low side (90/60). Occasional weird rashes, but that's only been a few times. Dizzy spells. Pain flares that happen across my abdomen at random that are excruciating.

My CT and TV ultrasound are clear other than some "mild diverticulum" that my GP thinks couldn't cause symptoms. An MRI showed adhesions that suggested deep infiltrating endometriosis but my laparoscopy was clear for endo. My bloods are normal other than low vitamin D and slight anemia. My calprotectin was normal but my FIT test was positive for blood. Sometimes when I'm on my period there's lots of blood in my poop but it's variable and sometimes I pee blood but all my UTI tests were negative. I have no thyroid but I was told that side of things was all fine. Sometimes I have left sided weakness but it's mostly fine and could be a result of hyper mobility and me fucking up my joints.

Any ideas, big or small, scary or minor, would be helpful. I feel abandoned by the NHS, nobody runs any tests unless I ask for them, and nobody considers any conditions unless I raise them. I used to be so active and now I'm not, I gained weight due to inactivity and depression eating, and I just want to know what's wrong and get better.

Any help of things I can rule in or out would be so helpful!

Last week i noticed my foot was peeling like underneath my toe area and I thought my foot was just super dry, but today after my shower I noticed this. No it dosent have an odor, dosent burn or itch, and isn’t painful at all. Any clues? I do wear my crocs barefoot like all day so I’m wondering if that did it, but I also don’t stand walk all that much since I’m on summer break.

Teenage Health help

okay so im 15F. I’m 5’0 and 90-100 pounds.

I struggle with depression so I’m bedridden most of the time, very important to note.

I’m showing symptoms similar to POTS or anemia or orthostatic hypotension idk but i know it has smth to do with tachycardia and fatigue. theres also a chance i may not have anything, I am diagnosed with OCD as well, so it causes me to ruminate and overthink often. Then again, that might also be a result of people saying I don’t have something every time i try to bring up the idea that I may have something. Nobody takes it seriously other than my mom (love my mama)

For starters I feel a lot of fatigue. I don’t like going out. Sleep doesnt feel refreshing at all, it feels disgusting if anything, yet I nap a lot.

I also have a lot of the cognitive and emotional symptoms of fatigue, but they may be a result of the other mental illnesses I have, primarily adhd: I can’t articulate my emotions properly because I either forget my words or I’m not articulate enough; this only occurs in real life, online I’m MUCH better because I have more time to process and think it through. I‘m good with long-term memory, but bad short-term memory. I tend to misplace things and lose them. One time I forgot the name of a friend of 6 YEARS, it was on the tip of my tongue. I have slower reflexes. It takes a hot second for me to process things (sorry, had to throw that in there, its exactly how it feels.) Ironically, I have a very energetic personality lol.

As for tachycardia, I have random episodes of my heart beating really fast. I don’t know if I’m just dehydrated, or if I’m standing too long. Speaking of standing, standing FUCKING HURTS. Sometimes my feet feel like really warm and its so uncomfortable. Walking is also really painful, so i sit down most of the time(or i have someone piggy back me haha). However I’m not sure if any of these have to do with blood pressure. I am also prone to dizziness when I stand up. At first I thought it was because I get up too fast, but it happens WAY too often. And when I stand for too long my legs feel itchy.

Again; I’m a 15 year old nerd, I’m diagnosed with a lot of mental health problems, and I feel four times my own age. I try to work out, I try to go outside, but I always end up vomitting. I’m not sure what I have physically but I may have smth, and I’m worried about being wrong about my own hypotheses because nobody really takes my issues seriously because im young, even if it turns out I don’t have them, I still need to explore the symptoms.

Ears, nose, throat, and mouth Do the body sub consciously help protect your ears (Health Anxiety)

I’m 16 and lately been reading posts about hearing loss and that’s scary, I use AirPods and my hearing is fine and still intact. People say that hearing loss comes from blasting music or smth like that. But can my body help protect my hearing sub consciously or does it just do nothing about it? I don’t want to ask google cus google aint no doctor. And is the body resilient enough?

General 18M, head injury as a kid, now a bunch of weird symptoms

Backstory: skull fracture and head injury as a kid from a car accident. Was fine for years afterward, but over time I've built up this cluster of symptoms and I honestly can't tell what's connected to what anymore.

The neuro stuff is probably the most disruptive — frequent, sometimes severe headaches, flashes of light in my vision, brain fog and trouble thinking clearly during episodes, random internal "vibration" sensations, numbness and tingling in my legs, and a burning/tingling feeling across my skin pretty much everywhere. Memory-wise I usually know what I mean but blank on the specific word for it.

There's also some autonomic-feeling stuff — near-fainting, where I don't fully black out but get close, sweating way out of proportion to the actual temperature, some general temperature regulation weirdness, and occasional trouble breathing right when I get up from sleep.

The part that worries me most is probably growth and development. Puberty started around 15 and then basically stalled — I've barely grown since, my muscle mass and tone are low for my age and hard to build no matter what I do, and development in general seems behind where my pubertal stage would suggest, even though I'm still growing body hair like that side of things never stopped.

On top of that there's some physical/structural stuff — an anterior pelvic tilt and posture issues, and some changes to my jaw and midface that I've noticed since the accident. Skin-wise I deal with chronic dryness, hyperpigmentation, sun sensitivity, and some thinning/sagging. And generally I'm just tired all the time, low endurance, trouble concentrating.

With everything going on, the fatigue, the skin stuff, the structural changes since the accident — I keep coming back to wondering if it's something pituitary or hormonal, like the injury messed with regulation somewhere along the way and it's just been compounding since. I honestly don't know if that's the right track though. Endocrine, neuro, both? If anyone's run into something similar or knows what I should actually ask to get checked for first, I'd appreciate it.

General Finger test (Schamroth Test?)

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I've had an uneasy feeling on my chest and neck for a while now, which was so much worse around a year before. My ECG indicates sinus arrythmia, bradycardia, and Left Ventricular Hypertrophy. I had a treadmill stress test and dobutamine stress ecg, but both are inconclusive as my heart rate doesn't reach the heart rate needed. Doctors (2 cardiologists) closed my case (at least cardio wise) as an effect of my lifestyle as I do leisure running sometimes. Ive been feeling the unease in my chest lately again and found this finger test thing online. Are my "finger tests" indication of anything? Thanks!

Blood Please answer.

I have had 2 repeadily reactive 4th gen test from the same doctor office, they were taken 3 months apart. I had another 4th gen test inbetween these two a month after the first one taken from a different office that came back negative but all labs came from quest. Confirmation tests were negative as well as pcr rna and hiv 1 dna qualitative negative. I know its rare extremely rare but I believe I contracted this 10 years ago from someone who I found out is confirmed Hiv positive. Whom I was with for over 2 years. I believe I am an elite controller and since I waited so long to test my antibody response has been unable to be detected. My question is if I am in this situation what options do i have to get a proper diagnosis? My symptoms are i have lost over 40 pounds, swollen lymph nodes, reoccurring infections; extreme joint pain in legs that never gets better.

My throat has been hurting for months and can’t seem to figure out the issue. The very back of my throat doesn’t hurt, it’s the right and left “flaps” in the throat (not my tonsils) that hurt, shown in the first picture. The only thing visibly noticeable on them is these “knots”/bulges that appear to bleed at times. All my bloodwork has been normal. Tried acid reflux medications. No one can seem to figure it out. I’ve been swabbed and no bacterial issues. Does anyone have any idea what this could indicate?

Swollen lymph nodes

Hello, so I am 19 and my question for you all is I’ve had swollen lymph nodes since my freshman year of high school and they haven’t gone away. I can still feel under my leg neck and chin area they do move around it never gotten like so swollen but every time they do, they like go back down, but like I can still feel them you know there’s still like they’re not large, but they’re there and but it always feels like I’m stuffy and I have stuff in the back of my throat so what do y’all think I have? I’m going to the doctors next month, but some other things to consider is I live in the Ohio Valley, which is like very it’s got a lot of pollen so I may be like I may have developed like allergies or something or I may have something more serious, but if anyone can let me know, that would be awesome. Also, I’m doing voice to text so if it looks choppy im sorry

Skin and nails Infected Toe?

Some Background info-

27(Ftm), Diagnosed with Lupus, Arthritis in my feet, Peripheral Neuropathy from the knees down specifically.

Regular medications include Plaquenil.

//I AM immunocompromised and VERY prone to infections!!\\

A couple days ago I started hurting in my left big toe but didnt think anyrhing of it becomes i deal with a lot or common random body pain due to Lupus.

Then it hurt to flex or move my toe, put any weight or pressure on it, and the pain kept spreading.

The pain radiates down the big toe, across the top of my foot and down to the ankle on the opposite side of my foot. Its a sharp throbbing pain that comes and goes randomly. My ankles feel swollen.

The big toe is a shiny red, very firm and painful to the touch. The toenail doesn't appear to be ingrown but there is something yellow that keeps returning under and around the nail no matter how much I shower and clean it, clean socks etc. The nail is also very flimsy and brittle yet refused to actually break.

Ive also been developing little blisters on my toes. As well as the rest of my body but this is a common symptom I experience with my Lupus.

I have a past history in my feet of Corns, Calluses, SEVERE Plantars Warts and Mosiac Warts(Pics on Profile) but I haven't had any of these be an issue for a couple years now.

Is there anyrhing I can do to try and treat this at home? Or is it something I should see my Primary about.

Note- my Primary schedule is booked out 3+ weeks at the moment and no local Urgent Cares.

Thanks!
