I currently work for a Community Based Organization that deals with HIV Prevention efforts and assists with case management for people living with HIV.
Job A (Current Job): it’s been perhaps the best job I’ve ever had, but it is not stimulating at all. My duties are repetitive, boring with no real impact to prevention efforts.
Pros:
• Autonomy
• Plenty of Down time
• Relaxed management style. No micromanagement.
• Great coworkers. I really like the people I work with.
Cons:
• Boring!
• hardly any impact to HIV prevention efforts
• I don’t find it meaningful
Job B (New Job Offer): I was offered a job with the local health department as a disease investigator. Still in HIV prevention efforts, and it is an entry level Epidemiology appointment. This is a job I had been seeking for a long time.
Pros:
• Stimulating. Mixture or office work, filed visits, partner contract tracing, providing testing and resources to people potentially exposed to HIV. No two days are the same.
• high impact to local HIV/STI prevention efforts
• Rewarding and stimulating
Cons:
•Rigid management style
• Bloated Bureaucracy job
• Unknown culture or coworkers
PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE! BOTH JOBS HAVE THE EXACT SAME COMPENSATION.
