Scarlett was found across the street with her puppies in a heartbreaking situation. She had 3 live puppies and 2 deceased puppies with her at intake.

Scarlett received DA2PP, Bordetella, Rabies, deworming, and Advantage Multi for parasite prevention. She tested heartworm negative.

🐶 Behavior Notes:

Scarlett is a fearful, overwhelmed mama who was found trying to care for her babies. She showed a tense body, tucked tail, and uncertainty with handling, but she was able to be leashed. Scarlett needs a patient rescue willing to provide medical care, stability, and the time she needs to decompress and feel safe.

Scarlett arrived with 5 puppies total. Sadly, 2 puppies passed away, leaving her with only 2 surviving puppies, Sadie and Serenity, needing rescue support alongside their mama.

7/2 Police Confiscate | Labrador Mix | Neutered Male | 5Y | 77 lbs | HW+high

💜 Volunteer Notes:

This poor boy I immediately wanted to take him out and give him some love. He was brought to the shelter after his owner passed away. When the family members were asked if they wanted him they stated they did not which is how he ended up in the shelter. When I took him out, he walked loosely on his leash and he was easily leashed. You could tell he was anxious to get outside and walk. He's on the bigger side as far as dogs go but I can tell you in every way he is like a gentle giant. I have several videos that show how loving he is. We sat down together and he just wanted to give kisses to me. He is gentle and loving and absolutely loved attention. He took treats from me and he was gentle. We did do a temperament test with him and he seemed to do fine. I think that he has some pent-up energy and he really wants to play. He seemed to get a little excited when he did see another dog. I hope that he gets a second chance at his forever home. I think it's really sad that his owner's family members did not want him and he deserves so much more.

Greeted me with a loose wiggly body, soft eyes, and and open mouth. Easily leashed and walked with a semi loose leash outside to the runs. Some occasional pulling while on the leash in the grass. Easily leashed and returned to kennel.

7/9/2026 BEHAVIOR NOTE

Maxx greets me at the kennel door with a wagging tail and happy demeanor. He lets me leash him and walks on a Simi loose leash to and from the potty yard. Inside his kennel he can be seen quietly sitting by the kennel door or laying on his cot.

7/10/2026 BEHAVIOR NOTE

Maxx greets me at the kennel door with a gently wagging tail and slightly open mouth. He lets me leash him and walks loosely to and from the potty yard. Inside his kennel he can be seen relaxing by the kennel door waiting for interaction.

7/12/2026 BEHAVIOR NOTE

Maxx greeted me with a relaxed body, soft eyes, soft sawing tail, and an open mouth. Easily leashed and walked with a loose leash outside to the runs. Easily leashed and returned to kennel.

dog was in front of the kennel and when i leashed him he walked loose leash to the runs and back.

greeted me at the front of the kennel with a neutral body and walked on a semi-tight leash to and from the runs.

dog was in the kennel and when i approched he walked semi tight and once he pottied he began to sniff aroudn and when placed back he stood in front of the kennel.

💜 Volunteer Notes:

Ian is the tiniest little puppy. He is only about 12 pounds. The shelter is saying he's 11 weeks old. I was there last week and saw him there and I promised myself I would stop by the next time and see him if he was still there. I feel so awful for him both times I saw no toys in his kennel. I did give him some toys when I left though. He's just a baby and he really needs to get out of the shelter and be a puppy. I cannot tell you how excited he was that I was in the kennel with him. I had to actually pick him up so I could take pictures of him because he was so excited to have somebody pay attention to him. I can't imagine how lonely he is being in there all by himself. I actually hated to leave him in there knowing he would be lonely the rest of the day with nobody else to play with. I hate that sometimes the shelter will put that the puppy was excited and jumpy and didn't behave or whatever. You can't even say this about these puppies they're in the shelter in one kennel for a week after week. No wonder they get kennel stress. I really hope he can get out of the shelter sooner than later.

6/27/2026 BEHAVIOR NOTE

Ian was a Move Adopt this morning and was carried to his new kennel in South A by another ACT. He is very friendly and playful, and whenever I walked into his kennel he jumps and tries to play with me. He shows a loose body, soft eyes, ears up, and wagging tail. He has been either interacting with the general public through the bars or sleeping in his cot.

7/4/2026 BEHAVIOR NOTE

stepped into kennel to spot clean and offer enrichment, puppy began to jump up and eventually play tug with my pants leg, was able to redirect by offering toys and giving treat.

Ian greeted me with a soft wagging tail and wiggly body. He was easy to pick up and place in a bin while cleaning his kennel. He enjoys his plushies and pets.

Hunk was a Move Adopt this morning and walked on a semi-loose leash due to forward pulling on the leash and paid little attention to other dogs as he passed the kennels to his new one. Throughout the day, he has been either standing in front of the kennel gate with a neutral body and eyes or laying down sleeping on his cot.

HUnk greets me wiggly at the front of the kennel door, fast wagging tail and a soft open mouth.

Was at the front of the kennel door, high wagging tail, trying to sniff at other dogs though the kennel doors with an alert body. Foward walking, jumping.

painted in kennel overnight. very vocal, jumping on kennel door. Once on leash was very bouncy following treats to the runs. once in runs continued to vocalize when trying to leash to bring back inside dog is biting leash trying to play tug, had to offer treats to distract him. continued to vocalize in kennel even after covering

07/16/26 12:12 Wiggly body, fast wagging tail. Loose leash out to runs and back. Kennel was still being squeegee'd and so we stood off to the side and he was very sweet and affectionate while we waited.

07/17/26 12:36 After opening, when customers were taking out another dog further down the row to walk, Hunk was sitting at the front of his kennel high pitched crying and barking without breaks. Treats worked in redirecting. Marking AE and covering with sheet.

Very hyper and vocal. In kennel dog was standing on hind legs, forward barking, with dilated eyes and wagging tail. I had to lasso the leash on him... he then walked out on a tight leash but maintained wiggly body. I was able to slow him down with treats a bit but he would just sniff them and then try to run while on the leash. When retrieving him from the runs i had to lasso the leash again because dog was jumping on door and high pitch barking.

Mr. Hunk did paint his kennel this morning, is very hyper and vocal, will be at the front of his door pacing and jumping against the door, forward barking, with dilated eyes and wagging tail. He was easy to leash, did walk out on a tight with wiggly body.

7/2/2026: Very sweet during intake and allowed vaccination without restraint.

7/6/2026: Took chicken gently from the handler's hand, was easy to leash, walked well on a loose leash, used the restroom outside, and kept her kennel clean.

7/8/2026: Jumping at the front of the kennel, vocalizing, high-pitched barking, and panting.

7/9/2026: Initially showed a loose body but became fearful when approached. Allowed herself to be leashed, but panicked while walking, so staff carried her outside.

7/11/2026: Kept her kennel clean, was quiet in her kennel, displayed a relaxed body and wagging tail, and walked well on a loose leash.

7/12/2026: Avoided the leash at first and attempted to run out but was successfully leashed. Walked on a loose leash and remained calm in the runs.

7/13/2026: Greeted staff with a soft face and wiggly body. Easily leashed and walked loosely with a neutral body.

7/14/2026: Soft, friendly greeting and easy to leash. Sat patiently while her kennel was cleaned and remained quiet throughout the day.

7/15/2026: Standing by the kennel door waiting. Easy to leash and walked nicely to the runs, occasionally stopping to sniff before continuing. No issues returning.

7/16/2026: Attempted to slip out during morning feeding but the kennel door was closed in time. Easily leashed afterward and walked well on a loose leash.

7/18/2026: Greeted the handler with a soft face and lowered head. Walked loosely with a swaying tail and relaxed body.

7/19/2026: Relaxed in her kennel with ears down. Tried to dash out when the kennel door opened but was easily leashed. Walked well on a loose leash. In the runs she became vocal and jumped on the kennel door.

7/20/2026: Rested on her bed until approached, then walked calmly on a loose leash to the runs and back. When the handler returned, she stood waiting at the gate with a wagging tail and soft expression.

7/21/2026: Greeted the handler with a soft face, was easily leashed, and walked loosely with a neutral body, swaying tail, and open mouth.

7/2/2026: Weighed 43.6 lbs. Initial intake exam normal. Vaccinated (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies), dewormed, and flea prevention administered.
