I know these are two are some of the more popular recent mods, I just notice how when they are talked about, they get a high amount of upvotes compared to other mods.
They must be very similar together, one being one of the best all girls mod and the other being one the best Monika focused mods. Feels like these two are the most popular atm?
What do you guys think is there a reason they get more upvotes than other mods, are they similar, what do you think?
While all 3 mods were tragic but beautiful in their own way, I feel like Exit Music Redux tricked me the most. Despite never playing it and knowing it has a reputation as a staple of the modding community and has also been labeled as sad, I should have known better than to expect a happy ending, but it still played me for a fool anyway, lmao.
I think it's because with Within and Fallen Angel, you know that Monika and Yuri were still in the vicinity of the things that were dangerous to them, such as Monika's abusive father and Yuri's knife collection. But with Exit Music, I let my guard down when Natsuki's dad got arrested. When it got to the ending, I was not prepared to see Natsuki like that; it made me tear up, alongside MC not getting the help he needed and officially reaching his breaking point. Just heartbreaking stuff all around. I'm a fool for thinking that MC going to the police was going to fix her mental health, when in reality it was only going to make her relive her trauma.
I really loved how the devs animated the sprites through movement to convey expression. While this is only my 6th mod, and the original game and the mods I've played kind of did that, they didn't do it to the extent this mod did, and I thought it was really creative. I also loved how immersive every scene felt with the weather and visuals too.
The only problems I had with this mod are the club treating Monika like she was Satan for coddling Sayori too much. I thought it was kind of ridiculous; I get it, but damn, it just felt cruel how they acted toward her. The pacing dragged on at certain times too, but that's about it.
All in all, I don't regret going on this depression spree of mods. They're all heartbreaking, but people were right to say these are must-plays and to put them in high regard. They all deserved their reputations, they all built up the relationships with each character and made them so heartwarming and romantic , but that's what adds on to the tragedy of it all. If you're still kind of new much like me to DDLC mods, I definitely recommend playing these.
Oh yeah, how could I forget the soundtracks for these? All incredible soundtracks, all memorable. The songs in these three made every moment of their respective stories better. Blue Skies for me though is still number one regarding soundtracks I've heard so far, it's just so peak, but these are definitely S-tier and in my top four still, though to be fair I haven't played many mods so far, so maybe that'll change as I play more.
With all of that being said, I am definitely taking a week break from sad mods for real this time, lmao. For a mod to even be truly sad, it has to have multiple endings at the minimum. These mods definitely took fragments of my soul.
Anyways, you all may be wondering, "Lizard? What the hell do you mean an update concerning all macOS users?"
Well, here's what's going on.
Apple has announced that it's beginning to phase out Rosetta 2, the compatibility layer that lets Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, M3, and newer) run Intel-based applications. Since many DDLC mods are built using older versions of Ren'Py that create Intel-based macOS applications, this could become a major problem for both players and developers in the future. However, I am not sure about Intel-based Macbooks.
Currently, macOS Tahoe is probably one of the last major versions to fully support Rosetta 2. Apple has said that Rosetta 2 is being cut out over time, meaning Intel-only applications will eventually stop working on Apple Silicon Macs.
So, how does this affect DDLC mods?
Many DDLC mods were built using Ren'Py 7 (and many with even older versions), which create Intel-based macOS .app files. On Apple Silicon Macs, these apps currently run due to Rosetta 2. Once Rosetta 2 is no longer available, those Intel-only builds may no longer launch.
For example, here's a screenshot of the macOS version of the popular and recent DDLC mod Foreign Relations.
As you can see, the kind of application Foreign Relations is, is an Intel-based app.
This isn't just a Foreign Relations issue. Many DDLC mods use the same Intel-based macOS build, meaning this could affect a large part of the community.
If you're a Mac user who enjoys playing or developing DDLC mods, I'd recommend keeping an eye on Apple's announcements. If you're on macOS Tahoe and everything you need works, you may want to hold off on updating until people know what the future holds.
Honestly, this is sad to hear. I understand why Apple wants to move away from Intel compatibility, but it's unfortunate for communities like us that still rely on older software to develop mods we love.
As for me, I'm most likely moving my development of A Racer's Dream over to Windows in the future so I don't have to worry about these compatibility changes. I may suggest you to prepare for it, but, until Apple gives any further announcements, don't worry too much. Just keep it in mind until further announcements appear.
I wanted to give everyone a heads-up before craziness with users asking why mods won't work on macOS starts to happen.
Good morning people, hope everyone's okay and having a great week.
Well, it's like the title said. I'm looking for some mod suggestions to play but I'm interested in mods that you consider that respect the canonical traits and personality of Sayori and that expands her route and/or experience the most
I want to understand her as best as possible, to try to think as her and how she would react to some specific scenarios and situations.
So, that. Any recommendations you have would be appreciated
It's been a bit since I updated about the Doki Doki: Lucid Dreamers mod, but I'm back to inform about two things.
First of all, I want to talk about how last post I mentioned about the possibility of having a demo, and now I can officially confirm that we will release a demo of Doki Doki: Lucid Dreamers Act 1.
We intend to release the demo in the end of the summer, tho don't take it as a sure thing that is gonna happen, because when I have sure, I'll come with an official demo release date.
Second, I want to talk about the sprites of the OCs used in the mod.
Since my post didn't had any answer, we decided to use free-to-use OC sprites from the community.
Chad - Luke
Metal - William
Goro Toyama - Professor Sato
With that, you can expect in the few days 3 new posts of facts, this time about those OCs.
Hello everyone! Good morning, afternoon, or evening! Today I'd like to introduce a mod that Future In Mind Productions has been working on. We've been developing it for about two months (probably a little longer), and we feel it's finally the right time to share our very first preview here on Reddit. We're attaching our new logo, a preview of the main menu, and a scene from the beginning of the mod. Please keep in mind that everything shown is still subject to change before the demo and the final release.
A little more about the project
Description / Synopsis:
Our protagonist believed his life had finally reached the perfect balance: a great group of friends, a literature club that had become a second family, and a relationship that seemed to have a bright future ahead. However, when a series of unexpected events shatters that stability, he'll be forced to face emotions that no one is ever truly prepared for. In a story focused on personal growth and mutual support, the protagonist will discover that, even after the most painful moments, there's always a chance to look toward the future.
Routes:
The full release is planned to feature five routes: four for the original girls, and a fifth route dedicated to a character already well known and loved by the DDLC community... Kotonoha!
Estimated Length:
Very long, roughly comparable to Doki Doki Blue Skies, or possibly even longer.
Release Date:
The full version doesn't have a release date yet. We hope to share an estimated release window sometime next year. As a thank-you for all the support we've received, we'd also like to announce that the demo is planned to release this year, with a target of no later than November. It may even be ready sooner, but one thing I can promise is that the first playable version will be released this year.
That's all for today! We hope you enjoy this first look at the project, and we'd love to hear your constructive feedback, suggestions, and opinions. If you'd like to follow the development of the mod, feel free to join our Discord server, where we regularly share development updates.Discord Server
Once again, thank you so much for reading, and we hope you enjoy the videos!
What does this mean? Like can mobile versions be available on mediafire or something? I see them in places but have no idea if they're supposed to be there.
