I recently finished this mod made by u/TheNarrator-Me and honestly i really like it, so i dedide to made a quick review
(SPOILER ALTER!) divided into 3 sections:
STORY
The story starts by showing us this MC who wants to join the literature club, but not to date cute girls, but because he likes literature.
But once we enter the club room we do not find our 4 girls we are used to, but rather 4 different MCs from different DDLC mods: Makata (the MC from the originale game) Yuriko (a FeMC that seem a mix between MC, Yuri, Natsuki and probably also a bit of Sayori) Chad (probably coming from non-horror mods like Blue Skyes and other similar mods) and Suichu (the FeMC from the Doki Doki switcheroo mod).
The MCs are aware that they are in a video game and insist that the MC we control (whom I will call John for convenience) stay in the club to help them understand the situation, John will decide to stay but only if the various MCs carry out activities related to literature, in this case writing and exchanging poems.
The concept of the story is interesting, I appreciated that each character had their own writing style, and the various special events with the characters amused me.
CHARACTERS
I honestly liked the characterizations of every character.
Makata is basicaly the base MC we know, a guy who like anime and qhi cares about his friend.
Yuriko like i said before has some traits that are remind of Yuri (because she is shy) and Natsuki (because she likes cute things), and honestly she is my least favorite, but its not a bad character.
Chad is so dam dumb but he made me laugh a lot, and at the end of the day he is a good guy.
Suichu is just like the original switcheroo FeMC, a gamer girl, pretty lazy, and she like eat, and I like her.
John is good MC, Even though I didn't like him very much at first, it was nice to see how he gradually grew fond of various characters.
GAME MECHANICS
The mechanics are almost the same as the original DDLC: you select 20 words to write a poem and depending on the words you choose you will be able to open a special scene with one character.
>!honestly at first I didn't like it very much that to get the good ending it was enough to just write poems for each person in a single run (and missing all the horror scenes), since it seemed to much simple to me, especially if you compare it to the good ending of the original game, but in the end I think it was a very smart choice, as the player tends to mistakenly think that the mod works like the original, and you are amazed when everything goes good but you expect it will all end badly.!<
>!I think I will probably replay it just to see the others finals!<
Other small criticisms I have but which are quite irrelevant are:
>!the fact that the text bubble is pink and not yellow, which is strange since the mod has yellow and brown colors!<
>!the fact that in the good ending we see the girls from DDLC but not the boys from Doki Doki switcheroo, I would have liked to see them too!<
In conclusion: this mod is really very nice and it's a shame that very few people are talking about it, I hope this review will convince other people to play the mod.
Thank you so much Narrator to make this mod. 💙
