227 Days is what it took. December 6th 2025 Application. I’ve checked here everyday ever since. I hope you guys know that you all matter and are worth it. You have not been forgotten. I’m rooting for you all. I was in your shoes for 227 days. Thank you to every single one of you for not giving up, and building this strong community.

So long story short is, I’ve been unemployed due to my DACA status. And I thought one day “well they don’t always ask for a e verification so why don’t I just apply and see how far I can get” well I got hired right away and on my first day of training they were asking for all my documents and I provided as much as I could and I was truthful. Then they told me to go home and sent me an email if I can’t provide proper docs then I’ll be fired. And well I couldn’t so they fired me lol I totally expected it, I just wanted to test the waters.

So can I apply for unemployment even tho it was one day? I got paid for like 6 hours of work(training)

Who is still waiting from January 😭?

Not a DACA recipient. How ever I saw on social media that some DACA recipients were getting approved after informing uscis of possible lawsuit if said case wasn’t approved within certain time period. Seems like more would be taking these steps if this were true. Wondering if anyone has come across any info on this subject?

Hey, i’m a 26 y/o living in NYC. Im finding it difficult for me to focus on anything besides what is happening. I recently moved out a year ago being a first Gen Latina, graduated and got a job as an EA with a cool creative agency. I feel like i’m doing a shitty job because of my mental health. How am I supposed to bring this up to my boss? They’re aware i’m not a citizen but I’ve never really talked to them about my situation in full details. Like I can’t be dumping on my boss and also what are they supposed to do? I just hate that yeah I can bring it up and probably bawl my eyes out but then what?
if they tell me to take a week or two off or tell me that I may have to resign to prioritize my mental health. I literally can not take any unpaid days off and I’m not in a contract so I get no PTO or benefits. Over the last year I was dealing with panic attacks, the life transition of moving out of a toxic environment, graduating and having a “big girl” job all came at once. I went to the ER 3 times last year simply from panic attacks. When my boss noticed this they kinda said if it’s because of my job then “we have to talk about your future here because it only gets harder” which I found to be kinda crazy to say. Do people not think, hey wait, this may caused by a personal life problem. Anyways, idk, just wanted to rant. If I decide to have a 1:1 how should I bring it up?

Hello everyone, I submitted my application for renewal Jan 30 of this year. Still nothing…like most of us. I still have faith and hope that I receive my approval soon! Right now work is going great, I just graduated and am now a RDH registered dental hygienist, it’s so frustrating. Have there been any January approvals?

anyone stuck in their life right now? I’m still working a job I hate. I’m stuck in this city cause I feel terrible leaving my parents struggling out here on their own. I’m the one who drives my mom everywhere. her appointments, groceries, errands, etc. I want to buy a home but that’s probably not the best idea right now. I want to vacation but better be saving that $$$. I believe I should just quit my job. maybe that’s a good starting point

Since my many years with daca (since 2012), I’ve never have brought up my status to my managers or supervisors. HR has been aware, of course, as they are part of the on-boarding and compliance process. In my current organization, I have always submitted my new EAD card to HR before they’ve even asked for it, and I’m not sure if they would have asked for it if I had not brought it up. This week, I started my work week with a meeting invite from HR titled I-9 progress. During the call I was asked how my renewal was going, when I applied, and was reminded that my expiration date was coming up on 10/3. I still have about two months before that happens, so hoping I get my approval before it expires. I did submit ahead of time on 2/24 when I heard about all the delays that were happening. I had my biometrics appointment on 3/23, and api movement on 6/16 on my 821D form.

Since that call, I’ve been wondering if the reason why the meeting came up was due to more stringent I-9 compliance issues, or because there was someone else in my organization who is also under daca who has been expired since March and still has not received their approval.

I was told that HR has spoken to my department’s VP, who will then talk to my manager. I have a touch base with my manager coming up as well, which means I will have to talk to her about it. Have any of you been in similar situations? If so, how did it go having to talk about it for the first time?

On the plus side, I was told that I would be put on an unlimited unpaid leave until I receive my work permit if it were to expire, so somewhat of good news.

UPDATE: I talked to my manager about it during my touch base. I made sure to talk about all work related items first and left the EAD topic for the end of the call. I initiated the discussion by mentioning I had a call with HR and as soon as I said that she said she was brought up to speed about that yesterday. She didn’t seem worried about it and it was a very casual conversation, so I just gave her a little bit of background letting her know that there was been delays with renewals so there could be a possibility I may need to go on leave but I’m preparing for that just in case so my items can be handled in my absence. She took it well and even stated that I shouldn’t leave the company or the team and thanked me for preparing in advance. It was really a discussion that took less than 5 minutes before we switch gears to another topic.

I know the majority of the posts are about renewals that haven’t been processed but to my people who do have active DACA…what’s the general experience on if you get pulled over and questioned by ICE? It’s really bad in Louisiana where I am and while I do have my license and valid DACA, I’m scared to even go to work.

Has anybody gotten any approvals after applying in march?

I’ve been unemployed since the end of February when my employment card expired. I was let go of my previous job because of the long wait.

I finally saw some API movement giving me hope of a near approval. Now that I want to update my resume- I’m not sure how to explain why I’ve been unemployed for the last few months- especially in corporate America.

I don’t want to lie but I also don’t want to go into details about my status before they even hire me.

Any suggestions?

I’m looking for advice from anyone who’s been in a similar situation.

My DACA renewal was received by USCIS on February 12, 2026.

My DACA expired about 2 weeks ago, and my renewal is still pending.

My grandfather in Poland was just hospitalized after suffering a brain hemorrhage and is in critical condition.
From what I understand, I can’t apply for Advance Parole while my DACA renewal is still pending, so I’m planning to request an expedite based on humanitarian reasons.

Has anyone had a DACA renewal expedited because of a seriously ill family member abroad?

If so:
What evidence did you submit?
How long did USCIS take to respond?
Were you able to get an emergency Advance Parole appointment after your DACA was approved? (Is it even safe to do AP now? 😩)
How much time were you given to stay abroad?

I’m devastated that I may not be able to see my grandfather, so I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone with firsthand experience.

Did you physically sign the letter or just have it all typed out? Just want to make sure I do it right

My DACA expired two weeks ago and have been without work since. During this time, I've been keeping busy by working on personal creative projects that I've been shelving due to lack of time or energy. I've started posting content about my work on Instagram. I have a few projects/ideas that touch on the subject of immigration, DACA, and other social justice issues. It's been my experience that not many people are familiar with DACA so I'm wondering if I can use my work and content to spread awareness to what's happening with us? I think it could be beneficial overall if more people knew about the program and the challenges we face. However, I fear that speaking out in this way could result in threats to my personal safety (What if I end up doxxed and ICE shows up to my front door?) or affect my applications/status in some way down the line. It seems one can never play it too safe with this current administration so I question if it's advisable to do what I want to do in these times.

What do you guys think this mean? Submitted 1/9, expired 5/2, biometrics redid 4/27.
