Clothing Unraveling Blaze's puffy skirt

Like so many people here, I didn't like Blaze's puffy skirt. It didn't deter me from getting the doll, because I love her face and hair, and even her shoes lava thing! I have plans for her. So I knew that as soon as I got her, I'd tear her skirt to pieces. Respectfully ๐Ÿ˜‚

And she arrived today.

SO! First I analysed the skirt's structure. The outer layer is a synthetic leather imitation on top of a jersey (the fabric is made that way). The lining is a regular old polyester fabric, a bit on the thick side for lining. And between the two, there is some rolled mesh that maintains the puffy structure beyond the cut itself. (See pictures 1 & 2)

Side note: my copy has a sort of glue stain on one side (See picture 3). I think the faux leather is a bit fragile, and mine had a small tear that they decided to fix rather than replacing the whole skirt. It makes sense cost-wise, and I don't mind cuz it's play line and I never intended to keep it as it anyway. But I find it's worth noting. Same with the chain, one link was slightly open and escaped from the threads holding it in place. I'll probably reuse them elsewhere anyway.

Back to topic. I wanted to see what the skirt looks like without the puff. For starters, I cut off the seam at the bottom of the skirt to separate the lining from the faux-leather. Then I removed the mesh. The skirt still has wrinkles, I'll wet her to hopefully remove them, or sew them flat when/if I make the hem. But I don't think I will keep that part, at least not entirely. (See picture 4)

My conclusion: I think the skirt can be transformed pretty easily into something really cool. The top part (belt and waist piece with side pockets) is convenient to use as a base. I think pleats and/or panels would look good on the bottom part, but I'd also like to try a muslin, depending on what fabrics I have in stock.

I hope this will be helpful to whoever was wondering what to do with that skirt ๐Ÿ˜ I'll probably update in comments, so feel free to ask any questions you might have.

General help! tips for rerooting a shrunken head?

There's a project I want to do with a MH doll that would involve shrinking the doll head, and while I know a wig or wefts is the smarter option I'm curious about the idea of rerooting it. I know that warming the head + using a tool to make the holes temporarily bigger is the way to make it actually possible, but I'm worried about how I'll do stuff like the hairlines and partlines when the space between them is now so much smaller. I'm not having luck finding more in-depth tutorials on this, so are there any tips anyone who's done this can give?

General help! Male Dolls comparable Size to Mansters or Monster High Dolls

If I wanted to make a custom Manster, what male dolls are out there that are relative in size to mansters or the ghouls? I really want to make a custom Manny because I sure nuff am not paying minimum 300 for a SDCC doll, even if I had the funds to be able to.

I would also love to make custom dolls for What We Do in the Shadows, too.
