hey, i was wondering what things are selling the most (and for the most money) and where to sell them. i keep seeing these pants selling out for hundreds of dollars so im assuming these are a big one lol. but i usually look on etsy but its hard figuring out what kind of things people would want. im very open to learning to make new things and would love any advice!

I promise this isn't self promotion since I dont have my etsy attached to my reddit! I just have this listing with a photo of my crochet bag sitting on polyfil and im worried some may see it as Ai or an edited image. Would this photo turn people away with all the worries of fake patterns nowadays? How would I fix it if yes?

I designed a colorwork project I want to sell but there are so many colors that I'm going to see if I can make it with embroidery floss. It's 6400 stitches.

Would charging by yard make sense here? Any advice welcome.

Im a self taught crocheter who’s been crocheting for about three or four years now. Im currently a full time student and don’t have the time in my schedule to apply for a job. I needed to find a way to start making some cash for myself, no matter how little it is, anything is something for me to start saving up some money (for my own personal use), so I resorted to the next best thing for myself and made an instagram account for my crochet. I posted some of my crochet items to sell and said that I would take any custom items that people wanted. It has now been around six months since Ive had my account. I have about six posts (i know it’s a small amount but i just haven’t had time to post a lot these past months) and about 30 followers, with most of these followers being my friends or people I know.

I honestly feel like im getting no where with my items. Ive tried to use hashtags, trending audios, more cuter items that people would buy while also trying not to fit into selling the same old items that people sell. I also don’t feel that my items are so bad that people refuse to buy it. For the most part i’m pretty proud about what I put online, even if it’s not anything huge or intricate.

I mostly sell stuffed animal crochet items and other objects like flowers. I don‘t really know if it’s setting me back that I don’t sell more items like shirts, dresses, skirts, huge crochet plushies, or sweaters. But honestly, making stuffed animals is all I have time for which is a big inconvenience for me. I know me not having more time on my hands sets me back, but despite being busy I also try to make time on my schedule to create something so I could then post.

I would love any advice on how people started selling their crochet or what crochet items they sell that people love to buy from them. Where they sell their crochet for the best chances of selling. Just any advice on how to maybe reach more of an audience on instagram with my crochet items or if it’s even worth setting my items on instagram at all. Should I look to sell it somewhere else, other than instagram? I know it takes some people months, or even years to get big on instagram with their crochet but I still want some advice when it comes to selling my crochet and why not ask now while i’m still starting up. Any advice is helpful :)

So, I don't sell my pieces in markets but I really should. I sell through another shop and the owner takes a cut, duh. Is it normal for them to take a 60% cut 😭. It was NOT that high of a percentage last year. If anything it was the opposite last year, and they would take a 40% cut. So I priced my work based off of those consistent numbers. I know the economy is bad rn but man. The increase was not communicated btw, just in case that's important info for any reason. Cause if I had known I would have priced accordingly 🥲. Please be nice, it's a genuine question. I've only sold a handful of my crochet before and I'm still learning how these things work!

I’m trying to make a bunch of items to sell, and right now I have scrunchies and flower coasters, but I want to know what other things sell well.

My husband and I are planning on moving to Tbilisi as it’s just better for him when it comes to his work and he said since I love to crochet and have lots of free time that I can make Plushies and sell them as a small income. He suggested this because he said it’s very popular and Georgians have a big interest when it comes to handmade things. I’m just curious if this is true before I make any drastic decisions and purchases. I’m wondering if there’s actually a market for those Things? Not just Plushies but crochet things in general(hats, bags, bag accessories, wallets etc) also if there’s any good place or website to advertise myself.

We've discussed all the details, and the pricing that she's happy to pay, but I just wondering what is the "done thing" when it comes to actual payment?

I would have to buy all the yarn in as what she wants I don't have currently - would you ask for all or some payment upfront to cover the material costs, or pay for the yarn yourself and have her pay in full when it's finished?

I'm aware that I can ask for the money however I like, but I'm hopefully wanting to do commissions as an actual side gig, so would like advice on the general practice that I should expect to follow if I do :)

I’m planning to launch a small line of premium merino wool beanies. Instead of selling pre-made items, I’m building a web configurator where customers can customize their beanie (choose colors (6 colors) , pom-poms, leather tag details, etc.). The goal is a minimalist, high quality, and a focus on premium materials.
My marketing plan is to document the entire process through short clips knitting, debossing the leather tags, and packing orders and post these on Instagram and TikTok.
I’m aiming for a price point around $60. My initial goal is to reach 15 sales per month to keep this as a manageable side project.

1. The Configurator:Does the idea of a custom-built beanie sound appealing to you, or is the "extra effort" of choosing options a turn-off compared to buying a finished item?
2. The Price: As a buyer, does $60 feel justified for a custom-made, high-quality merino wool beanie, or is that pushing it for a small brand?
3. The Strategy: Is documenting the process on social media enough to build trust for a new brand, or is it too saturated now?

I've been seriously considering opening an Etsy shop to sell physical crochet items, but after seeing so many negative posts and TikToks about Etsy lately, I'm starting to wonder if it's even worth trying anymore.

To give some context, I'm not looking to sell crochet patterns or other digital products. I want to sell actual handmade crochet items that I make, package, and ship to customers.

I'm also not trying to build some huge company or become a six-figure business owner. This would be more of a side hustle and something I genuinely enjoy doing. I want to start small, improve my crochet skills, add more products as I get better, and hopefully make some extra money along the way. I'm perfectly happy having a nice little small business. I don't have dreams of becoming the next massive crochet company lol.

That's one of the reasons Etsy originally appealed to me. I liked the idea of being able to create a shop, list my products, pay the necessary fees, and sell without immediately feeling like I need to build an entire business operation from scratch.

However, I keep seeing people say they're done with Etsy because of the fees, competition, changes to the platform, and the amount of digital or mass-produced products taking over the site. I've also noticed that some handmade sellers have to raise their prices significantly to account for Etsy's fees.

So my main question is: Is Etsy still worth trying in 2026 for a new seller who wants to sell physical handmade crochet items?

Are people still actually going to Etsy specifically to look for unique, handmade items? Or has the platform changed so much that new handmade sellers are better off starting somewhere else?

I've seen Facebook Marketplace suggested as an alternative, but I've always associated Marketplace with meeting buyers in person. I don't want to meet customers face-to-face. I would much rather package my products and ship them.

I also know that creating my own website is an option. I'm not completely against doing that eventually. I've actually helped my mother-in-law with her website, so the idea of managing one doesn't scare me.

My hesitation is that I don't really want to jump immediately into the feeling of running a full-fledged business with my own website, driving all my own traffic, and going through the entire business checklist right from the beginning. I'd rather start somewhere that already has customers looking for handmade products, see whether people are interested in what I make, and grow from there.

If Etsy is still the best option for that, I'm perfectly fine giving Etsy a chance. Sometimes I wonder if the negative opinions I'm seeing online make the platform seem worse than it actually is.

Hi! So I just started selling my own crochet patterns after selling plushies for about a year. Selling the plushies has been kinda stressful and time demanding on top of not really making more than covering my own costs which I didn’t mind that much since it’s a hobby. But now I’ve gotten into designing my own patterns! I’ve already sold 2 of my very first which I’m very excited about. Buuut how do I advertise in the best way? I have about 500 followers on insta and almost 5k on tiktok… the 5k are almost only people interested in the plushies I’ve been selling and people from my own country. So do I just continue posting there hoping to find more interested people? How do I up my instagram game? Do I just post about my own patterns regularly? Would honestly love some advice!
