Looking for extra help with the subreddit

Hi everyone!

We're looking to expand the moderation team of [r/CongratsLikeImFive](r/CongratsLikeImFive) in order to improve our response times. If you're interested to help keep the subreddit tidy, let us know by commenting below and I'll respond to you as soon as I can.

As a moderator, you'll be reviewing reports sent by fellow community members, as well as removing rule-breaking content or spam. The requirements for a mod are to have a kind and patient soul. Please only apply if you care about the subreddit, not if you're here just to collect a mod badge.

Our quaint subreddit doesn't get huge troublemakers nor does it require you to dedicate a huge chunk of your day or week to moderation. Just responding to notifications and somewhat regularly checking Reddit is OK!

Thanks you for your consideration! I will update this post once we have found enough extra hands.

50 Days Sober

I am 50 days sober today. The shame I feel from drinking is overwhelming, but the only way I can right my wrongs is to keep staying sober. It’s incredibly hard and I feel pretty alone in this.

After scrutinising myself for so long, I liked what I saw yesterday.

Everyone has good and bad days, but yesterday I saw myself naked clearly for once, and realised I have been way harsher on myself than my body actually deserves.

I stood in front of the mirror, snapped a photo and understood that I don’t look half as bad as the picture my mind paints for me constantly. I would say listening to other people’s opinions shadowed my own perception on myself more than anything, them noticing the weight I’ve put on… and yeah, possibly I don’t conform to the conventional beauty standards of today, but if I was someone else looking at me I wouldn’t feel disgust.

I’ve learnt to be kinder to myself from now on and stop all this self decrypting talk. It’s as annoying for me than it probably was for other people to hear.

So, here’s to body positivity! 😂

We’re all beautiful, just in different shapes and sizes. That’s something I should have learnt a long time ago.

I've gone six days without smoking cigarettes.

I made that decision because I came down with pneumonia, and I know smoking is the cause. I feel very proud to have made it six days already, and I know I’ll succeed; it’s not easy, but it’s not hard either. 🙂What do you recommend?

BIG accomplishment I drink and smoke significantly less than I used to, and prioritize how I feel the next day a lot more

Just 3 years ago I (25f at the time) would stay up late drinking and smoking weed on work nights. I would go to work on 4 hours of sleep and with a hangover. I worked 12-hour shifts at this time too

Now at 28 years old, I only drink in moderation and almost never will if I have to work the next day. And when I do drink at all, it's a lot less than before. I don't want to feel like crap and have more anxiety the next day anymore. I also limit how much THC I consume because it can mess with REM sleep, and give me anxiety the next day if I have too much before bed.

And to add to this, I also quit nicotine vapes, started eating healthier, lost 50 pounds, and am now building muscle. I used to eat a lot of processed foods and never exercise. Now I'm doing vigorous exercise sessions at least 3 times a week, and eat almost all whole foods.

Feeling healthy and happy all the time beats a night of drinking by far. I have accomplished so much these past few years, more than I have even mentioned in this post. I am genuinely proud of myself for deeply improving my life and health.

BIG accomplishment Got my license today

I’m 22 and this was my third time taking the test. The two other times I had severe panic attacks and drove so badly. I took my anxiety med beforehand and it helped a lot. I’m so happy!

BIG accomplishment i actually swam across the whole pool today

okay this is probably going to sound like a really small thing but i'm honestly so proud of myself right now. i've never been a confident swimmer and usually i get tired or start overthinking halfway through, so i always end up stopping before i make it all the way across.

today i was swimming and i just thought... okay, i'm going to try and make it to the other side without stopping. i wasn't even sure i could do it but i just kept going and somehow i made it.

when i reached the other side i literally had to stop for a second because i was like wait... did i actually just do that??

it's only one length of the pool, i know, but i've been trying to get better at swimming for a while and this felt like such a huge win for me. i'm already thinking about trying to do it again next time and maybe eventually swimming a few lengths.

what's something that seems small to everyone else but felt like a massive accomplishment when you finally did it?

Got over something difficult I finally told my friend I couldn’t keep being the “always available” person

I love my friends, but I've always been terrible at saying no. I would answer calls when I was busy, change my plans, and agree to things even when I really didn't want to. Today I finally told a friend that I couldn't help with something because I had too much going on. I was expecting them to be upset, but they completely understood. I know this is a normal thing for most people, but setting a boundary without feeling guilty feels like a huge step for me.

Really proud of myself I unclogged a sink today

My bathroom sink had been clogged for weeks now, and I’m honestly no handyman. I was raised as a girl and so have like very little experience fixing things. But today I unclogged the sink, and now it drains good as new :D

Got over something difficult I went to the gym today

I’ve been struggling with severe low self esteem and loneliness since leaving my toxic relationship. I gained over 40 pounds. I felt gross, fat, and ugly in my new gym clothes. I almost had a panic attack at the gym because it was crowded, but I still finished my workout and didn’t quit. I’m proud of myself for showing up. I don’t have anyone to vent or talk to, so I posted here.

Really proud of myself Did my final speech of the semester in 4 takes!!!

It has taken me over an hour to do every speech this semester. Since this was our last one it was kinda complicated, and I had to tweak it and rearrange some stuff last night. I thought for sure it was going to take an hour as well and would need like a dozen takes, especially since there was so much information to memorize. But I did it in 4 takes!!! Was done in like 20 minutes! There were a few long pauses and stumbles, but I pushed through!!

I'm still nervous/anxious, but I'm also really proud of myself!

Did something for the first time I finally finished reading The Lord of the Rings

I've had multiple starts and stops, usually fizzling out halfway through Fellowship. However, I think this time I was able to get the right mindset and stick with it and finish it.

Now I'm onto the Silmarillion and even though everyone says that's the harder book to read, I think I like it more. It's like the elevated version of those computer game manuals with tons of pages of backstory.

I removed a man’s hand off my thigh without feeling guilty for rejecting him!

Yesterday was my birthday and for whatever reason I thought this man who invited me out was going to be a fun time, turns out he doesn’t drive and needed a ride home. I reluctantly did so after he pleaded so many times (still working on it).

In the car ride to his place, he kept trying to rub my arms and my thighs with his clammy hands. After an awkward 3 minutes of my suffering, I took his hand off me and said “I’m going to put that over here” and put his hand far away from me. We didn’t talk the rest of the ride after that, and I just listened and jammed to my songs as I pity ubered this man to his apartment gates and did not feel bad about it!! Hope I get better at this because I am so tired of ending up with people because of their interest in me and not my interest in them!

Got over something difficult finally off coca-cola and feeling so much better!!

been completely off coca-cola (you know what i mean) for months now and it feels so good. no more of that stuff messing with my head or my body.

i’ve been working out consistently, eating better, and i’m finally gaining the weight back in a healthy way. my body is filling out again, my face looks healthier, and i honestly think i look even better than before. the gym confidence is hitting different now that i’m not all wired and drained.

life feels clearer and lighter. i’m still the same wild girl but without the bad stuff dragging me down. just wanted to celebrate this win because it’s a big one for me.

if you’re trying to get clean from anything,
keep going. it’s worth it

Really proud of myself I opened a savings account!

I'm so happy about this. It's such a small thing but I know it will make a huge difference in my life. I've never had a savings account, but I'm really, really good at saving in general, although I've always saved everything in cash. I'm proud that now I have a place to put however amount of money I want every month and see my safety net grow. I'm really proud of myself 🥳🥳🥳

Made something cool I cooked my first full meal from scratch and it was actually edible!

I've lived on instant noodles and frozen food for basically my whole adult life. Today I followed a recipe and made spaghetti with homemade sauce and garlic bread. It wasn't restaurant quality but nothing was burnt and I didn't poison myself. I'm genuinely proud. Next stop: learning to chop an onion without crying

First time in my life I love my job.

4 years ago I made the decision to try something new for work. I was terrified and didn’t know where to start,
I had no experience but my manager gave me a chance. Best thing I’ve done.
Make that leap you never know where it might go. 🙏🏼💫

BIG accomplishment I got my first apartment at 24 today 🙏🏻🥺

Today I signed my lease, got my apartment keys, and I’m finally able to move in. I honestly can’t stop smiling.

This past year has been one of the hardest years of my life, and there were times I wasn’t sure things would ever get better. After everything I’ve been through, having a place that’s finally mine feels unreal.

It’s not about having a fancy apartment—it’s about finally having my own space, some peace, and the chance to start a new chapter.

I’m just really grateful today and wanted to share this with someone. If you’re going through a hard time right now, I hope things get better for you too.
