Episode: "The House of Quark" - DS9, 303

Airdate: October 10, 1994

Teleplay by Ronald D. Moore; Directed by Les Landau

Brief summary: "After Quark lies about killing a Klingon in his bar, the dead man's widow abducts Quark to the Klingon homeworld to marry him."

Background: Ronald D. Moore has 64 writing credits to his name in the Trek franchise, often with Brannon Braga. After Trek, Moore worked on Roswell, Carnivale, and launched the lauded reimagining of Battlestar Galactica. Since that series, he has been the creative force behind Outlander and For All Mankind.

The story for this episode is credited to triple-threat Tom Benko. Benko was a writer, director, and editor. He has "story by" credits on two DS9 episodes, he directed two TNG episodes, and he edited one hundred episodes of TNG, DS9, and VOY.

Les Landau was a first assistant director during TNG's first season, and later was credited with directing 21 episodes of TNG, fourteen of DS9, nine of VOY, and one of ENT. Outside of the franchise, he worked on Dynasty, TJ Hooker, seaQuest DSV, Lois & Clark, Sliders, JAG, and more.

Guest Cast: Rosalind Chao appeared as Keiko O'Brien in eight episodes of TNG and nineteen episodes of DS9. Beginning with 1970's Here's Lucy, Chao has had a lengthy career in film and TV, appearing in classics like MASH, Diff'rent Strokes, Falcon Crest, Six Feet Under, The Joy Luck Club, and more.

Mary Kay Adams -- descendant of US Presidents John and John Quincy Adams -- appeared as Grilka in two DS9 episodes. She also played Na'toth in Babylon 5's second season. She had recurring roles on both Guiding Light and As the World Turns, plus she co-starred in the comedy film See No Evil, Hear No Evil.

Robert O'Reilly (Gowron) appeared in four episodes of TNG and eight episodes of DS9. O'Reilly also appeared as Scarface in TNG's "The Manhunt," an accountant in DS9's "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang," and Kago in ENT's "Bounty."

Max Grodénchik appeared as Rom in 34 episodes of DS9 and LD. He had three other roles in both TNG and DS9, and played a Trill ensign in deleted scenes from Insurrection. Outside of Trek, he appeared in Night Court, Tales from the Crypt, Sliders, The Drew Carey Show, Barton Fink, The Rocketeer, Apollo 13, Bruce Almighty, Six Feet Under, and more.

Carlos Carrasco (D'Ghor) appeared as different characters in three episodes of DS9 and one of VOY. He is best remembered for his role as bus-passenger Ortiz in Speed and for providing voices for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

John Lendale Bennett (Kozak) was a stunt double and stand-in for Avery Brooks on DS9, plus he was a background performer and he played three other characters on the series. He had acting and stunt roles in films and shows like Space: Above and Beyond, Seven Days, Face/Off, US Marshalls, Minority Report, and more.

Joseph Ruskin was a famed stage actor and acting teacher who had multiple appearances in Star Trek across the decades: Galt in TOS' "Gamesters of Triskelion," Tumek in two episodes of DS9, a Vulcan master in VOY, a Son'a officer in Insurrection, and a Suliban doctor in ENT; not to mention the voices he provided for Star Trek video games Hidden Evil and Away Team. He also had over one hundred other appearances in films like The Magnificent Seven, Prizzi's Honor, and Indecent Proposal, plus TV shows like Twilight Zone, Knight Rider, and Alias.

In generations when Kirk stepped off the turbolift and the cameraman shines lights on kirks eyes it's kind of reminiscent of early tos show lightning where they would focus on Kirk/shatners eyes

You are posted as a sole security officer in a lonely corridor. A psychic alien tells you someone is going to take you by surprise sometime today and knock you out. Nothing you can do. Would you rather have to take a neck pinch, a phaser stun hit, or a neck chop ...?

Star Trek DS9: The Complete Dominion War Guide by Tome of Nerd

The blogger Tome of Nerd presented three lists on the biggest arc in DS9.

The Essential List on the left has 33 episodes, 3 more episodes than can be crammed into a Discovery format.

The guide above covers most of the episodes of the Dominion arc, including the war. There are a few episodes that are missing, though.

Therefore, a longer guide should be provided, with Essential, Expanded, Supplementary 1, and Supplementary 2 episodes. The fourth type is just as important as the third type.

It appears the time period the guardian of forever is displaying might be the civil war and if Captain Kirk step through now he might actually meet President Lincoln.

Imagine if bones jumped into the guardian a little earlier they could have been in the 19th century instead.
