I've been rewatching while waiting for the new season to air and I can't help but notice that during season 3, Mills seems to be honestly a little mean to Brett. This just surprises me because normally Peter was very friendly with newcomers to the house, like Clarke and Jones. Wondering if anyone else noticed this as well and why you think that is?

Injured at work a couple months ago so I’ve been binging this show. Up to season six at the moment but I am constantly turning the volume up and down. Especially after a quiet chat at the fire house turns in to loud sirens.
Also trying to keep an eye on cross overs. Took me up until about season 3 to realise they were happening. Thought a few of them were out of order.
Great show though. I’ll check out PD after this, I wanna see how that Vought bloke went from trying to get Casey killed to getting his own spin off.

Following up on my last post about how downhill the show has gone — I’ve put some serious thought into what the next best steps writers can take (I know I’m taking this too seriously), but here is:

Hi everyone! In which season do you think Kelly and Stella are at their best? I know every season has its moments, but which one do you think is the most stable for them? I think it's season 10 because it's the first time Kelly and Stella function as a completely solid couple. They're no longer in a stage of doubt, reconciliation, or rebuilding trust; instead, they support each other, communicate better, and have a clear vision for the future. Season 9 is very important because it marks the definitive maturation of their relationship, but season 10 is where that evolution reaches its peak and culminates naturally with their wedding. Please excuse my bad English.

Does anyone know what season and episode number it is?
r/ChicagoFireNBC • u/fanstellaride • 4d ago

I’m traveling to Chicago in mid August. I have no idea what their shooting schedule typically looks like, but I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a chance I could find them around the city or where if I could.

They always do Fire, Med, Pd. Is there a reason for this rather than doing it in release order? (Fire, Pd, Med)
I was watching the infection crossover episodes and it got me thinking

i know small animals and 'kids pets' like guinea pigs are usually the butt of the joke for shows like this, but it never stops making me a little sad too :( i appreciate seeing hermann stand up to tell people to donate after the poor thing died. random post but idk where else to say it

2 main examples:
1) Him calling for a Squad assist just to deny Severide’s advice, which resulted in the victim losing his leg. Severide made good points that he shouldn’t have called for a specific squad company if he just wanted more hands to carry out his plan, and Casey hears none of that and is like “you’re just jealous of my new rank” 🙄
2) Being a dickhead to Grainger just because he was dating Brett. Mid hook up, Brett asked if he would leave with Gabby right now if she asked and he said “I don’t know” then wanted to act surprised that Brett didn’t want to keep seeing him

Going back and doing a rewatch of Chicago fire, and it’s so sad to see how truly downhill it’s gone. Aside from the usual of we don’t see most characters due to budget cuts, I’ve also noticed:
Multiple storylines over several episodes (for example in S2/E17: Jones as a firefighter/Casey and Boden being forced to “nick” her, dispatch being weird with Dawson, Dawson trying to pass as a firefighter, Severide and Katie/Katie and Otis/Katie being kidnapped, Shay’s death.
Emotional depth — we used to get scenes and episodes showing different emotions, like where Casey uncovers the dad who shielded his family by laying over them, Herman’s vasectomy/birthday party at Mollys, Severide after Shay’s death, etc. the emotion would go high and low and actually make you feel something throughout one episode. If you don’t believe me go watch any episode in season 1 or 2 and you’ll see the difference.
General lack of variety: in earlier episodes we used to see all types of interesting events and scenes — it was a lot less predictable (ie the storylines with Shay’s girlfriends, Benny randomly showing up, Severide sleeping around constantly). We need some stuff like that.
Lack of friendships among characters — we used to see multiple dynamics and friendships like Casey/severide, Casey/severide/boden, severide/shay, Casey/dawson, Otis/cruz — now you just don’t have that anymore in a real way. There are like 2-3 cliches and they are repeated without any depth or unusual interactions.
Variety of settings — we used to see scenes in the coat closet, bathroom, laundry room, outside the garage (Casey and severide smoking cigars), at galas/random events, Squad table— we just don’t see that anymore. Obviously we barely see any fires anymore but that’s a seperate story.
I think to get Chicago fire back to where it was (if at all possible) the writers need to go back to seasons 1-3 and watch them, study them, and go back to the roots. They’re going to loose the show if they keep it as it is.
And as a side point — why can’t we get more references to Boden/Shay/Otis/Casey? They were a foundational part of 51 and it’s weird that they aren’t mentioned.

Would the technical term to sum up be “Gaslighting” in terms of what a complete sleaze dude was ?

I’ve been watching Chicago Fire for as long as I can remember, and it’s nearly as old as I am, but one thing I’ve always noticed is that the continuity from season to season was never the best, and it’s only getting worse over the later seasons where each episode seems to have more problems than the older seasons.
Most recently, the whole thing with the Offices. Officer quarters is always a big thing in CF but I’ve noticed that there is literally zero acknowledgement that 6 other officers all use the quarters (2 other shifts x 3 Lieutenant spots). Even recently in S14 where Herman is *trying* to move out for Mouch, realistically, he’d have to box his stuff up into drawers and boxes after every shift for the next officer to put their stuff out. Same thing for the Battalion Chief which has never once been acknowledged
Obviously it’s just a show but it is one of the most realistic firefighting shows out there, and yet somehow this is one thing they always seem to slack on

Yes. its just a show. But some shows do research. ^(like Mad Men on when stuff actually happened) yes, its decent villain/antagonist setup.
---
I’m doing a rewatch of Chicago Fire and I’m currently on Season 2. The drama with Gail McLeod trying to shut down Firehouse 51 makes for decent television, but knowing how the actual Chicago Fire Department (CFD) works completely ruins the illusion.
this was a hunch on my part at first. my first hunch was "I don' think they can close firehouses this way and I don't think they would close 1 down BAM and then threaten to close others..." So I did some digging.
The entire premise that the city is just shutting down stations left and right is completely fake. Since 2000, Chicago has maintained a net zero closure rate for its stations. Any firehouse that actually closed in the real world was super small, cramped, or completely out of date. When those old brick buildings close down, they are immediately replaced by a brand-new, modern "super-station" built down the street to keep the neighborhood coverage exactly the same. They never just leave an area stranded to save a buck.
Bing, bing, bing! The biggest joke of the whole season is that McLeod is an outside consultant sent by the State of Illinois to fix a city budget problem. The state has absolutely zero power over the Chicago Fire Department.
The CFD is a municipal city agency funded entirely by Chicago taxpayers and overseen by the Mayor. The state doesn't run it, fund it, or control it. In fact, the state only provides minor grants to the CFD that account for a mere 2% of the department's total funding. A state bureaucrat from Springfield has as much legal right to close House 51 as a random tourist does, and an outside consultant would never wield that kind of operational power over municipal infrastructure.

One Chicago posted this the other day is a clip from end of season 14 “severide promoted to captain of FIREHOUSE 51
Might be nothing but maybe this is hinting Kelly’s decision in season 15??
