Wrapping up a complete resto on a local client 's' 72 Jimmy over the last year. Truck was a complete mess. Lots of amateur metal work, rocker and quarter panel repairs done. Ended up doing complete paint inside and out, two-tone paint job, all trim, interior, engine out, engine bay detail, firewall repairs and smoothing, trans swap from four-speed to automatic, fiberglass work removing ugly roof rack and an American auto wire harness.

Help! Chevy, Rough Country and RSP Performance people.

Upvotes

I have a 2011 Chevy 1500 4WD Silverado with a 3.5 lift on it. So I needed tires, which led to needing ball joints.
Well having trouble finding part number for that. Rough Country gave me a part number for control arms because that’s what the mechanic told me. Told my boyfriend something else.

On the control arms has the RSP performance company logo. You have to email them and it takes FOREVER

do I have to get new control arms to do ball joints on my truck?

Can I just replace the ball joints, get tires on and get an alignment?

Help!

Thank you in advance! I have 5 kids and no time to be without a vehicle. 💙

Rust manageable or too far gone?

Thumbnail

2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 93k miles. Frame rusting living near the coast. Very minimal body rust. Am i delusional to think I can manage this by hitting the frame with a wire wheel and doing a full coat of POR15? Will that delay the rust process or just cover things up?

My dilemma is the truck is starting to need 100k mile maintenance (shocks, fluids, bearings, etc). I need to decide if I pour money into it and keep it, hoping it lasts another 100k. Or get rid of it for something else while it’s still worth something.

Any advice appreciated!

Our Chevy Silverado is having quarterly check engine lights

I would like to have some advice or hear from someone else over this topic please. My father purchased this 2022 Chevy Silverado LT in 2024 and it seems like after every 3 months the check engine light comes on and it has usually placed the truck on limp mode the code is P175e. We take it to the dealership and they erase the code and try to make the code show up again organically but they fail to see it again, and since the code is gone and it works again, they just release it back to us.
Is there anything we can do? We are going back to the dealership basically every 3 months. This year alone we have gone the first week of January, and the week of Easter. And we are now taking it back today (July 21st).

Does anyone have any advice on the matter?

Have an opportunity, need to know if it's worth it.

I have an opportunity to pick up this 1987 R20 with a 350 and TH400. Seller claims the trans pan seal and rear diff seal needs to be replaced. AC doesn't work. Rear glass needs to be replaced. Asking price $4000

It would be a project for me and my son. I figure there are parts a plenty for the 5.7 and TH400, and it would be something cool to work on and eventually turn over to my kid. Is it worth the $4000

No matter how many new trucks I see online, I always come back to loving my Silverado. It’s perfect just the way it is.

2020 Duramax, 3500 Diesel Help

I recently inherited a 3500 HD from my father who passed away. Only has 5k miles. Rarely used it the last few years, if at all, and as a result I’m now having a hard time getting her up and running normally.

Long story short, she powers on fine, but I’m stuck with an emissions warning and reduced engine power warning.

Things I have done so far:
- The diesel exhaust fluid was empty so I replaced
- Added Diesel Kleene + Bio Kleene and topped off the tank with fresh diesel (was 3/8ths full before)

I’m in the process of replacing the fuel filter as I’m guessing it’s completely sludged up. However, he had the underside rust proofed and I’m having a hard time with the cap. Tried the standard 36mm and wouldn’t fit around. Need to grab a 37/38mm and try next. Hoping I can get her to loosen up with those otherwise I’m guessing I’ll need to just bring it in to a pro to use some fancy gadgets to get her off. I also don’t want to break the whole fuel filter housing unit dicking around with it.

Anyways, my goal was to get the fuel filter replaced and hopefully that allows me to drive faster than 40mph from the reduced power warning. I then plan to take her on the highway and get the engine hot enough to hopefully kill off any soot that’s causing the emissions warning.

Does this seem like a reasonable plan or should ai just get it towed to a solid service shop and save myself the headache?

Appreciate the wisdom.

Im assuming its a Regency package but I cant find any with the same 2 tone design I just want an image of what the truck looked like since these are the only photos I have and I wanna recreate the paint job on my 1st gen s10 project. This was an ohio truck but was totaled out in 2014 when he got hit head on.

Looking to see whats a fair price for my truck. Thinking of upgrading but not sure and don’t want to give it away

2016 Silverado 1500 Z71 4wd LT (has heated and leather seats). Truck has 100k miles on it

Unfortunately, I just toasted the trans. $12k later, I’ve got a new trans, torque converter, radiator, condenser, charged AC, lines, fluid, etc

All work was done at a dealer and comes with a 3yr/100k warranty.

Goodies:
Camburg upper control arms
Dirt king rear shack and hanger kit
Deaver u182 travel leaf springs
King 2.5 bypasses on all corners
Dirt king rear bumper
Dirt king hitch
Method 17” wheels
Brand new Toyo MT 35s
Baja designs pod lights with interior 5 switch control panel

Truck is in Southern California for reference

2001 Silverado 1500HD LS trim
Has a 6.0L Gen III Vortec v8 and 4l80e tranny

Bought it today (day of post) and i really love it. My first car was an 07 Suburban LT so of course the “luxury” was a step down but i dig the LS trim on the GMT800’s.

Wanted to show her off. I named it “Yucca”

Seems to be on a leveling kit, and it’s got 33 inch bfgoodrich k02’s on.

Rides nicely, and feels tough. Started wrenching away when i got it home.

Edit: THANK YOU ALL FOR THE COMPLIMENTS :)
I will be posting updates as i do mods and stuff for sure! Lots of awesome plans for this rig!
