What are your favourite coins in your collection, and why are they your favourite?
They could be anything, from till change to purchases straight from the mint! If it's in your collection it has a reason to be there, regardless of the type of reasoning.
It's nearly impossible for me to choose a favourite, but if I absolutely had to it would probably be the Canadian Symbol: The Beaver because I love that it shows both the above water view and the underwater view. The artist, Maurade Baynton, did an amazing job designing it, and there's so many details to it that really paint a natural scene in action.

Is this toonie real?
galleryA friend got this toonie and thought it seemed off. The edges say āCanada 2 Dollarsā, and it feels lighter than an average toonie.

Real or fake?
galleryI am not Canadian & it's been a while since I've seen one of these. Heard 1996 is a fairly common year for fakes.
So far as I can tell, I don't see any signs it's not real, but I wanted to run it past actual Canadian numismatists real quick.

Todayās till pulls!
galleryPopped the till open at work this morning and found some new additions to the collection! I always bring a little cash to exchange at face for cool coins. I havenāt seen any Aurora Toonieās in the wild for some time now so it was neat to find even tho the condition isnāt top notch. The 66 was the star of the show though :) Cheers!

Voyageur dollars
galleryI collect American and Canadian coins but the Voyageur dollar is my outright favorite since i was a child.
The scene on the reverse: the weathered and weary voyageurs, the snowy Canadian forest under the cast of the northern lights is so evocative and romantic for me. It makes me nostalgic and yearn for a time that I was never in. It even has a HB for hudson bay company if you look close.
I have an entire NGC slab box of these things. Nobody wants them in american coin shops. I hate how they shrunk it down into a smaller nickel coin in 1968. If you look at the NGC or PCGS census, it is surprisingly hard to find the silver ones in grades above 65, even though it's not a terribly old coin nor did it ever circulate well.

1920 Dime
galleryA newer piece to my collection, a 1920 dime, I bought it for $30 off a local dealer. It has a strong luster but the lighting is a little weird so you canāt really see it here, but overall it seems to be in a high grade (Ef-Ms). It also has die cracks on the obverseās legend along with a rotated die. If thereās anything I got wrong or missed please point it out.

Casual collection
galleryBeen a bit, just casually collecting coins that look different. Got a roll as change from the bank once. That was cool. This is the loons and toons I got. What you all think? Lots of doubles, pairs.
Thanks to this sub for helping me organize/catalog/price these.

A couple of my nicest 10 cent coins, 1913 and 1917. Silver is wonderful!
galleryA small sample of my inherited collection. It's been so interesting learning about numismatics. Found some interesting variations my grandfather had no idea he had.
