Context: I owned a 2016 SS 6MT when it was new and loved it. Used to live in CA and tracked it a bunch. Life changed and I got rid of it but have been passively searching for an SS 1LE ever since. I always wanted a bit more brake/tire and the eLSD would be a nice upgrade.

Now, I have a new dilemma: This is a 4th car and can be kind of impractical. I do want to drive it on the street fairly regularly, but I WFH so it’s not like I do a ton of driving anyhow. I’m curious to hear personal takes on living with the SS 1LE vs the ZL1 1LE—including track usage/wearables. I feel like the SS is a really good balance all around, but is it time for something nutty w/ 650hp? Or not worth the $20k+ premium?

Well boys, it’s officially time to say goodbye to my beautiful 2023 Camaro RS V6. This car has meant more to me than I can put into words. It’s the car that taught me how to drive a manual, and every mile behind the wheel was an experience. The V6 is an absolute blast. It’s smooth, responsive, and far more fun than it often gets credit for. However, I know I’ve always wanted a V8 and I started looking at used V8 Camaros, but an opportunity came along that I couldn’t pass up. I ended up getting a decent deal on a brand new S650 Mustang GT.

I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of this community. No matter the engine under the hood, the Camaro is one of the most beautiful cars ever built. It’s one of the few vehicles that still makes me stop and look every time I see one. I truly hope Chevy brings the Camaro back one day. This isn’t goodbye my friends, it’s simply farewell for now. Hopefully, one day I’ll find myself back behind the wheel of a roaring V8 Camaro. Until then, thank you all for the memories. Long live the Camaro

I bought this car when I was 18 (2014 Camaro SS 6 speed auto) the second after I graduated Highschool in 2022 as a graduation present for myself. My first car was a 2015 Camaro RS V6, so I had been erotically fantasizing about getting an SS for years. It was my absolute dream car.

I bought it from some guy off of Facebook marketplace for $20,000 with 72,000 miles on it, and it had some “work” done to it. Just a cam, heads, straight piped, random mods etc, but I was young dumb and blissfully unaware of any basic car knowledge at the time. All I cared about was having a fast loud ass car so I didn’t heed any warnings and ignored every possible red flag because I was in love with it.

I drove it 140 miles back home and all was well. The car wasn’t even registered yet but I couldn’t help myself from flying down backroads and parading it around town causing a public disturbance. So I put an additional 60 miles on top of that.

To keep it sweet and simple; the car wasn’t even legally registered yet and I had only put 200 miles on my new, shiny, sexy, murdered out Batmobile before the engine was blown to smithereens. I took it to my mechanic praying it was an easy fix, little did I know it was the furthest thing from an easy fix. They tore down the engine and there was no saving it, it was completely unsalvageable scrap metal at that point. But! Just as a little cherry on top they also discovered that the “work” done to the car was not done by any professional shop whatsoever, as well as the guy I bought it from was not very truthful regarding the parts in it either. It had a whole different brand camshaft in it then what he’d told me.

To say I was devastated is an understatement, I was distraught, inconsolable, borderline suicidal at this point. My dream car that Ive wanted since I was a small child obsessed with transformers that I just got scammed out of $20k for had been reduced to a rolling pile of junk in less than a week.

The car sat in my yard rotting away for about 6 months before my wonderful amazing parents whom I love very dearly said that they would split the cost of a new engine with me 50/50. My dad is good friends with our mechanic who has a wealth of knowledge regarding performance engines and he’s extremely involved in Motorsports. So they came to the conclusion that if they’re going through the trouble of putting in a new engine no ordinary bone stock gm engine would do, he wanted it to be better then what was in it when I bought it.

So we had a fully built top to bottom no expenses spared naturally aspirated LS3 swapped into it (as opposed to the L99 which came in the car so same same but different) Just for the engine itself not including install was $16,000.

As it sits now, it currently makes 580WHP on 93 pump gas and it is actually nuttier then squirrel shit this car is VIOLENT. In all honesty it scares me to death but with great power comes great responsibility and all that. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

But things aren’t all sunshine and rainbows, this car has been such a money pit. My Camaro has to be haunted or cursed or something of that nature. I can never catch a break there’s always always always SOMETHING broken or wrong with it at any given time. Over the course of the last 4 years this car has ate an unspeakable amount of money. It is payed off but even now as a 22 year old making big boy money I still struggle to keep up with everything that goes wrong with it, it’s not daily drivable. so more often then not it doesn’t get driven. The new engine is barely broken in and the car is at 78,000 miles

It’s not economical by any means, it gets 6MPG and 93 is $5 a gallon so that’s almost 1$ per mile. I love it but it doesn’t have much purpose, besides occasionally when something isn’t broken I’ll drive it on the weekend like I stole it.

But there’s one thing in particular I HATE I cannot stand at all with it that really makes me regret everything. The 6 speed auto in the Camaro has to be the worst, slowest, clunky, sluggish, complete and utter pile of dogshit ever invented. I think if it had a 6 speed manual or even something like a 10 speed auto it would be the worlds most perfect car.

Ive reached the point in my life now where I don’t really “need” my Camaro anymore, the money from selling it would do me much better, and I hate letting it just sit parked not being driven like it should.

But the main problem with selling it is I know I’m not going to get anything even remotely close to the amount of money I currently have into the car (rough ballpark grand total of about $55,000, pretty much nothing is stock except for the wheels and cosmetics) Most SS’s of the same year with similar mileage are all going for around $18k to $27k depending on condition, despite all that’s been done to it and all I have put in to it doesn’t effect the market. Even with all its upgrades, bells and whistles the resell value is next to non existent.

With that being said, should I sell my car and take a rather large loss assuming if I’m lucky I could maybe get $30k? Or should I keep it as a “project” and keep building it up and possibly start saving up for a transmission swap so it’ll finally be perfect?

Hi All, I’m the original owner of this Camaro RS cyber grey metallic with inferno orange interior with 20” rims. She’s been running great u til recently, regularly serviced, normal brake/tire replacement, fluids changed. This June started experiencing mechanical issues to the point where I’m leaning to unload the car. Just had trans flushed by dealer at 109,400. This is the 3rd time dealer flushed over cars life. Now shift intermittently slips (gets briefly stuck in neutral 1-2 secs) going into 1st gear/reverse.

Also CEL showing engine position and crank shaft position codes. Timing chain is original. A/C compressor went out couple years ago. I lived without it since the labor to fix is enormous.
Given age and mileage it looks like repair costs are in excess of the cars value.
Any thoughts much appreciated!

2016 2ss 80k miles

Seems wierd to ask but I've gotten so many different answers to these questions....I have a v6 2016. 6quarts or 5.5quarts...do you guys fill the filter befor you install it?....now I've done a hundred oil changes in my day but none on these newer camaros and don't want to risk a problem....Thanks in advance

I've been doing a deep dive on this swap for about a week now and I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I pull the trigger on buying the two vehicles.

The plan is to swap a Mercedes OM617 turbo diesel (from a 300SD) into a 3rd gen Camaro (roller). This will eventually become my daily driver, so I'm aiming for reliability first and fuel economy second. I know this won't be a bolt-in swap and I'm expecting to do fabrication work.

I have a couple of questions:

**1. Wiring**
From what I've researched so far, it seems like the best approach is to leave the Camaro's factory fuse box in place for the body electronics (lights, wipers, heater, etc.) and build a separate engine fuse/relay box for the diesel in the engine bay. The two systems would only be connected by a few signal wires (ignition, start, gauges, reverse lights, etc.).

Is this the right way to do it? If you've done something similar, how did you wire it?

**2. Fitment**
I know I'll need to fabricate engine mounts and probably a transmission crossmember, but what other fitment issues should I expect? Things like:

* Oil pan/steering clearance? * Firewall clearance? * Cooling system? * Driveshaft? * Exhaust routing? * Suspension upgrades because of the engine weight?

I'm trying to make a complete list before I start buying parts.

If you've done an OM617 swap into any vehicle—or a diesel swap into a 3rd gen Camaro—I would really appreciate any advice, lessons learned, or things you wish you'd known before starting your engine swap.

Need some ideas because this has me stumped. Ever since I bought my 2019 ZL1, the GPS hasn't worked, the compass is stuck on North, the clock never updates, the mic doesn't work (voice commands pop up but can't hear me), the Apps button just says "Connection Failure," and I can't connect the car to the OnStar app. The weird part is the Bose audio works fine, Android Auto works, music plays, and my rear park assist beeps normally. Previous owner replaced the shark fin with a black one for cosmetic reasons. Has anyone dealt with this before? Thinking maybe the telematics module or GPS antenna, but figured I'd ask before I start throwing parts at it.

hi, i just got my starter replaced. was working everything well. came back from class and the temp is stuck at 160, hot air coming out of ac, and engine fan staying active 10mins post turn off.

So the 5th gen was a success based on the idea of its retro styling. I’ve been saying n side conversation with friends and car guys for year that if they (auto manufacturers) just keep utilizing their old designs (of which they have hundreds with proven track records) and modernize them slightly, they have a gold mine on their hands. I asked ai to make a new version of the second gen Camaro, and I gotta say..this is pretty sick. I’d drive one. 😆 Wanted to know what y’all thought. Thanks!

Guys, i have a v6 2015 Camaro but its got an issue, whenever i turn it on the entire center console shuts off, no music, no menu, nothing, ive tried everything short of replacing the radio, i have a few videos of what im talking about if needed!

I'm not a current owner but I've had a few. I don't have pics of my first one. Bought it new in 1986. It was a V6 5spd. Brown with tan velour interior.🤣

Then a 2011, then a 2022.

Found a decent puddle under my FWD passenger side wheel. At first I thought it was brake fluid but after further inspection the brake lines look to be in very good condition. This is an odd color fluid and I’m pretty sure it is the strut leaking… can anyone else confirm if this is the strut? And how hard of a diy would this be? TIA

Hi guys, this is my first post that’s solely on this issue i’ve been having, but I genuinely need some actual professional advice. I’ve gone to 3 separate tuners, all charging like 600-900 for tuning, each one has great reviews, and each one has given me an issue. I have a 2017 SS with the 8 speed, mods are headers and e85 with tcm unlock. The main issue I’m having with my recent tuner is that on upshifts of certain gears, the rpm’s slip up before falling back down/ are pausing sort of. i’ll link the vids below
1st run: 2-3rd shift is good, 3-4 was good but kinda iffy, 4-5 was pretty bad.
2nd run: 2-3 was iffy, 3-4 was less iffy, and 4-5 was absolutely horrible

I really don’t wanna switch tuners again cause not only do I not want to spend an extra 600-900, but i feel like this tuner can fix the issue, but then again I don’t even really know what the issue is. Is this mechanical do yall think? Or is it solely the tune? Both? Please let me know, and maybe give me some things to tell my tuner on what exactly he should look for in the logs. Thank you

So my front windshield got smashed yesterday from what I believe was a kid playing outside, and was wondering how much would this cost to fix? I’m only assuming it was a kid because there is a very tiny hand print on my car that wasn’t there before. I just want to know a ball park for how much it’ll be.
