My Mum (early 70s) recently moved to Calgary to be closer to us- we have lived here since 2011. She is physically active and very open to new experiences- looking for suggestions on communities for her to make new friends and social connections- she already goes to city of Calgary fitness classes and has joined a 55+ club but I think is missing conversation groups. Would love any ideas or suggestions - she does not drive but lives by the train and is comfortable with transit and uber.

I think her meeting 2-3 women in a similar position where they can meet up weekly and hang out would be the ticket.

I (M29) moved to Calgary end of 2024 and life’s been a complete blur since then. Between work ramping up, travel, and just trying to settle in, I haven’t actually slowed down enough to build real friendships here. And I’m realizing that’s on me.

My wife and I moved across the country to start fresh and I’ve been grinding through it instead of actually enjoying it or connecting with people. I work in finance, play squash when I can, love a good thriller, and I’m genuinely someone who wants to do things. But I need to get better at actually showing up consistently. So I’m putting this out there: if you’re looking for the same thing, let’s actually make it happen.

I’m not talking one-off coffees. I mean: playing a sport regularly, catching movies, hiking on weekends, just hanging and actually building something real. The stuff that takes time and repetition to feel like friendship.

Hey all we have a few spots open for new gamers to join our merry band of misfits. We had some good luck last time so figured we would give it another shot 😀.

Currently we are playing Rifts from Palladium Games but the games and GM/DMs change every 4 to 6 months. We also encourage new players to eventually try running a game once they feel ready. No experience is necessary to play just a desire to learn a new system and have some fun in the process.

If you have any questions feel free to drop me a line or leave a comment here. We meet up 7pm sharp on Friday nights as long as we have enough bodies to play (life loves to throw curveball sometimes). The current age range is late 30s to mid 50s but we have had mid 20 players before who really enjoyed coming.

My group of friends play Street Fighter 6 and looking into venturing into local places that would host it.

We're part of the fighting game community and online we're finding more and more strong local players in Calgary.
