Things to do

Hey,

I'll be in town from Bellingham for an interview tomorrow.

For fun I'll be hitting up a restaurant and maybe a park or other similar tourist-y thing while in town. What would you all suggest for while I'm in town?

Highline School District Interview(s)

Hi All!

I currently work in the Highline school district as a classified staff member. I recently finishes my masters and got my teaching cert. I have an interview on Thursday for a fourth grade position and I am nervous. What was the process like? Full panel interview or just admin?

Is anyone in this sub a teacher/staff Highline employe that can give me some insight on what to expect for interview questions? I have been going over a ton. The school I am at doesn't show the interview questions 10 minutes before its more of a come on in and lets do this vibe.

Any insight, interview questions you've been asked or questions similar would be amazing. Or just your overall experience and what to expect.

Thank you!!

Saw 3-4 cop cars dip after a huge boom that rocked the neighborhood late tonight? Maybe the air port?

I said thank you as we crossed paths and we moved along, but I keep thinking I broke off too fast and didn't seem appreciative. On the off chance you see this, it was super sweet of you to say, and I really appreciate it!

Apartment recommendations?

Hi, I’ve seen posts recommending areas to look in Burien. But I was wondering if anyone has any apartment recommendations where they currently live or had heard good things about. Some that I think look nice from street view:

•Ambaum Place
•Avon Park Apartments
•Wellington Place Apartments

My budget currently is $1700ish. I’ve seen some cute condos, but I also want to have some apartment options just in case.

City Council Clown Show

This is getting ridiculous with the insider dealings and the absolute disregard for common sense in giving Krystal "Mayhem" Marx a chance again. First (they), the majority give the Transit Union a payout even though they all took donations from them. Can you say conflict of interest, and what are they thinking when someone so caustic is even in the running after all the previous damage they caused.

Volunteering for teens?

Does anyone know any locations I could volunteer at? I'm 14 and need 20 service hours by August 20 so I'd really appreciate it if someone knew! I am free on Friday-Sunday!

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Residents urge local organizations to stop using AI-generated artwork – what are your thoughts? #burien #AI #art

Summer in Burien is a fantastic time of year. From spending time in our beautiful parks, to participating in local festivals, there’s always something fun to do, and a reason for non-residents to come to town and see what we have to offer. We’ve watched with alarm as organizations such as Discover Burien, Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Burien have been using more and more generative AI to create logos and fliers for local events...

Goodwill donations closed

Hi, wondering if anyone else was turned away at the Goodwill today while trying to donate. I didn't read the small print on the signage, it just said something about unforseen circumstances. I'm hoping their receiving is up and running tomorrow. My car is packed!

Little Guru got out due to a faulty latch on a new gate. He has been spotted, he is hard of hearing. He is very friendly, however. He is microchiped and the information has been checked and updated the contact. Please if you see him taken to your nearest vet so he can find his mom as she is ugly crying. This has been posted to the usual places on Facebook and next-door and the ring community. I am indirect contact with gurus owner. If you need to reach out to somebody.

Let’s start a coworking collective?

Hi Burien people. I'm looking to start something like a coworking collective in a yet-to-be-secured space in downtown Burien and looking for people to join the crew. The vision: a group of 10-ish people who are artists, remote workers, activists, etc. who yearn for a permanent second place. This place is something we'd each pay 300-500 bucks a month to rent, and work to turn it into a vibrant community space for ourselves to house our work/passion projects/things we can't bring ourselves to do at home anymore. Eventually, we could work to open the space to others (renting floating desk/work spaces to people on a monthly basis, or for community gatherings/meetings), which could decrease our out of pocket rent a bit. I'm an environmental lawyer for a non-profit and involved in leftist organizing work seeking people with similarly aligned priorities and politics. Might this be you? Email me: [email protected]
