We track what we ate, how much we ate, calories, protein, weight, and everything else.
But a lot of us barely track what was happening emotionally before the urge started.
For many people, overeating isn’t only about hunger. It can start with stress, loneliness, boredom, rejection, exhaustion, or that constant mental chatter around food that people sometimes call food noise.
I’m starting to think it can be just as useful to track the trigger as the food itself. Not necessarily in some complicated way. It could be a note on your phone, pen and paper, an app, or even just pausing and asking yourself: “What happened right before this urge?”
You might not stop every binge, but at least the pattern becomes less invisible.
Does anyone here track their emotional triggers or food noise, rather than only the food?
