House build stuff up
Hiya!
Were building a house, it's done, just waiting on final inspection and handover. Our problem is, at the start of the build it was being planned to have a regular straight driveway, that's what was included in the quote. We're on a corner block so the driveway had to be on the left, and we realised as plans were being finalised that there was a tree on the nature strip where the driveway would go. Being a corner lot we couldn't move the tree, and so the final drawings included an angled driveway. We made it clear to admin that we'd prefer a straight driveway if we were able to do something about the tree. Fast forward phone calls to council and a permit to relocate, the council actually ended up taking the tree and moving it down the road where another one had died and was happy to not plant a new one on our nature strip.
By the time the tree was removed, we were in the build stage and the frame was up. The office said to let our site supervisor know once the tree was gone so we could plan a straight driveway. He was aware of the situation with the tree. Once we saw the tree had been removed, I messaged the site supervisor:
"as the tree has now been removed, can I confirm we are now able to do a straight driveway?"
To which site supervisor replied:
"I will look into it, but yes should be fine"
I had also messages the office asking if we had confirmed the straight driveway, to which they sent it through to him and said he will be able to sort it out.
I thought great! Having never built before, I didn't know what other steps I would need to take. Fast forward again to the driveway being laid, and it's an angled driveway. I messaged site supervisor, and 3 days and many ignored messages later he said it was "lost in translation and an error all all parts as [we] never brought it up again" and basically there was nothing that could be done. I then talked to the construction manager who then questioned why we hadn't asked about the driveway when we were told it would be put down and I said I wasn't aware there was a problem I needed to ask about. He said a variation was never put in, and when I asked why the variation was never put in he just said it was a communication breakdown and there's nothing they can do now since it was in the plans. I asked for written communication as to why the variation was never put in as all of this was over the phone, and haven't yet received written confirmation that they missed the variation and nothing can be done.
I just want to know if this is really what we're stuck with and if there's really nothing we can do? If it was clearly communicated all throughout the early stages that we wanted a straight driveway once we did everything we needed to to remove the tree, but really the site supervisor just forgot to write up a variation, is this really now on us to go and pull more money out to get someone else to finish the driveway? Sucky situation either way especially so close to handover.
Cheers!

Timber processing
Hey all,
Is there anywhere in Bendigo or surrounding areas that I could take a few rough sawn and old weathered timber beams to be run through a thicknesser?

Weatherproofing / Draught proofing assessment and services in Bendigo?
I'm noticing that our place seems to have a lot of draughts etc where heat is escaping, and need to get it professionally assessed and fixed - I wouldn't even know where to begin.
Anyone can recommend any services in Bendigo (or that work in the Bendigo area) that can do something like this? All I've found so far are https://www.goinggreensolutions.com.au/ and https://www.ephe.com.au/, but no idea if they're any good, or if they even service the local area.

Where to get a men’s Brazilian wax in Bendigo?
So I started getting male Brazilian waxing a while ago. It hurts, the process sucks but totally worth it.
I don’t want to keep travelling into Melbourne to get it done, a 2 hour drive home with sore bits is nearly as bad as the waxing itself.
Does anyone have a recommendation for somewhere in Bendigo that does men’s intimate waxing, and does a good job of it?
It seems lots of places don’t do men, which is understandable but I just wanna get my bits smooth and go about my day in peace.

International Student Moving to Bendigo – What Qualifications Do I Need for Part-Time Work?
Hello amazing peeps,
I’m an international student and I’ll be coming to Bendigo in the next two months to start my undergraduate studies.
I wanted to ask what qualifications or requirements I would need to get a part-time job there, especially if I want to work as an early childhood educator or in childcare while studying.
Do I need a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, a Working With Children Check, First Aid certification, or any prior experience? I’d really appreciate any advice from people living or studying in Bendigo.
Thank you!

Prospective international student moving to Bendigo – Looking for local advice
Hi everyone,
I'm an international student from India and I'm planning to study Master of Information Technology at La Trobe University (Bendigo) next year.
I have a few questions and would really appreciate advice from people living in Bendigo:
- How is Bendigo for international students?
- Is it easy to find part-time jobs (retail, hospitality, warehouse, etc.)?
- Which areas are good and affordable to rent near La Trobe?
- Is public transport reliable?
- Is Bendigo a good place to start an IT career?
- Any advice for someone moving there for the first time?
Thanks in advance! I'm looking forward to becoming part of the Bendigo community.

Places to eat dinner
My gf and I are staying in the centre of Bendigo for the next few days. And was wondering what places are good for dinner and breakfast. It’s just us 2 and anything that’s roughly $40-$100 in total. Thanks for the help

Kind stranger to my mum on the train today
To the lovely young man who helped my older mother catch the train back to bendigo from Southern cross today:
Thank you!
She had forgotten her phone, had an eye appointment and been turned around all day.
You sat with her, chatted with her and after offering her a ride home, which she declined, waited to make sure she got into her car ok.
She has been telling everyone in our family how lovely you were to her today and we cannot thank you enough!
She indicated you may have been worried how she would respond to you because of your situation. She has been glowing you up all evening!
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I know Australia is sometimes a shittier place than you'd think, but we aren't all racist pieces of shit and we genuinely appreciate good people.
We genuinely appreciate you!!!

Chasing watercolour artists that do commision painting around the area.
As title says, chasing a way to find local artists or someone willing to do a commissioned watercolour painting from a photo. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions!

Vape prices
I hope this okay to post but has anyone else noticed how different the prices for IGET one are between stores around Bendigo? I’ve seen people mention everything from $30 to $80. Curious what everyone’s local shop is charging these days.

People who stop a car length or more short of the lights: why?
Who hurt you? Why do you do it? Do you even realise you are doing it?
I’m talking about the people who stop so short of the lights they’re not even triggering the sensor. Got stuck behind someone doing it at the lights today and saw two more in town. Is it just me or are there more people doing this one in the last couple Of years?

Anyone else getting conspiracy stuff in their letter box?
Hey everyone.
Has anyone else gotten weird conspiracy theory notes in there letter box? It's a single sheet with one side having a picture of Mario (the video game character) t-posing on one side and stuff about how every day civilians are spies and actors on the other. It also has his blog address on it.
Do I tell the authorities? Or just throw it out? I'd rather not get this nonsense in my letter box. Any guidance would be appreciated.
