been staying in my new shared house for a week or 2, no issues, no bites or any signs of bugs. last night my girlfriend stayed over for the first time and she came up with around 7 bites on her back. itchy, painful. most in the middle, one on her lower back, couple on her upper back. they’re not in any line pattern. i’ve searched my mattress, in the seams and crevices, all around and on the bed frame. no stains or marks anywhere, no bugs, blood or fecal matter.

i cant understand why she’s got the bites. i’m so stressed i cant sleep. what can i do, what’s the next course of action. why did i not get any for all this time and she gets bites instantly. overall, is this bedbugs? i’d really like to put this to bed (pardon the pun).

I’ve been waking up with these bug bites for the last few days. I saw the stains on my pillow today :( I looked in between the mattress and box spring but didn’t find any signs/eggs. My boyfriend has been getting SOME bites, but not nearly as bad as me. Our apartment is clean, but I know the people directly under us aren’t and our complex as a whole has a cockroach problem 😭 please tell me these aren’t bed bug signs

I've been getting bites every 2 weeks and just found an actual bed bug on me today. Extermination is coming tomorrow. I went on a first date that went extremely well a couple days ago, and now from what I'm reading, I shouldn't even have anyone over at my place? And I need to dry my clothes before I leave the house?

What the hell man.

I’m moving and I have my wedding memories box where I kept all the cards and my “hangover recovery bags” made of cotton muslin fabric. And on the moving I opened the box to see the memories of the wedding and found this in the cotton bags, now I’m freaking out.
The box has been inside my closet without opening for 5 years.
Nothing else has this, no clothes; no nothing! I never had bedbugs in my life and now I’m terrified.

ON May 31st, I pulled absolutely everything out of my room, all furniture, mattress is wrapped, everything i owned went into totes into a car. I had nothing in my room besides my bed. I washed all my bedding everyday & dried it twice, as well as a protector on my mattress. I did not find any bugs.

Starting July 20th, I started bringing things inside from the car. I have had consistent days about 95 degrees, so I knew the car was hot enough. I have slowly started adding my things back into my room, everything has been rewashed & dried. What could be sprayed was sprayed.

I found a small clear one in my books that I had already brought inside from the car & has now been in my room for 2 days, picture attached. How the hell did it survive the heat for 6 weeks? What do I do now?

so he couldn’t find any bugs, however i still saw that one bug and have bites all over. once the bites started appearing all over my body i put cimex powder on my bed and against the walls and under my bed. imo i think there were eggs that hatched and thats why the bites came back after nearly two weeks of no bites. inspector seems to really dislike the powder, any reason why?

Hi! I need a sanity check for this plan to get someone who's struggling with bed bugs to visit me. Please I'm not looking for fearmongering or anything; I'm already quite paranoid myself. All I need is to understand if this plan makes sense and if there are any gaps. Thanks!

• They wear freshly dried and washed clothes and leave the house without sitting anywhere.
• We meet in a public space (the gym or the shopping centre). I bring them new clothes (pants, socks, top). They get changed and put their clothes in a plastic bag (closed with a strong knot). The only bit they won't change is their underwear (should I consider that safe?) and the shoes.
• We go to my house. Before entering, they leave the bag with their old clothes on the balcony, at a safe distance from the entrance door (assuming there is one?). They will also leave their shoes and any other belongings (wallet, keys, any bag) in a plastic bag on the balcony.
• Once in my house, they shower and wash their hair while I put the new clothes they were wearing in the dryer. Their phone goes in a sealed plastic box. They can use it, but every time they're done with it, it goes back into the box.
• They leave wearing the dried/steamed clothes and shoes - this prevents them from having to bring the contaminated shoes inside to get changed, or walking in other areas of my buildings wearing the contaminated clothes.

I know socks will likely be at high risk since they won't be changing their shoes, but I don't mind disposing of them if necessary. I am concerned the shoes might be a risk as they walk on the carpeted shared areas of my building to reach my flat, but I read that this shouldn't be a problem as long as they keep walking and do not stand on the same spot for too long.

We just rented a place with some furnishings in Texas. Yesterday, I saw gray curtains in an upstairs room and traded them out to my room before seeing a bug on them when adding sheer curtains just now. I took them down to wash on high heat and dry. I checked the mattress for any signs at all and saw nothing in this room.

I also found the molt on the window sill where the curtains sat.

First off… are they really bedbugs? I’ll have to let the upstairs roommate know when he gets home. And what are our steps?

My wife and I live alone with 2 dogs who only stay in the main living space(away from the bedroom). We have a decently sized 2k sqft home. We recently found bed bugs in our bed room. We have been trying to declutter our room to get an exterminator out. How likely is it for a larger house with only 2 humans they've migrated to other spaces? We both only sleep in the one bedroom. We've found them on several pillows next to the bed (thrown away when we saw them), and on the bottom of our adjustable bed as there is some fabric there. I'm also unsure which method of extermination to try. There are several exterminators in my area and some use Aprehend, some use heat, and various other chemicals. I'm also in the US.

My grandparents discovered a nightmare bedbug outbreak back in May. I had visited them before it was discovered and was bitten. Thankfully I showered and washed my clothes when I got home since their house is dirty and that’s my usual protocol. I didn’t have any more bites for months, & saw no signs of bugs (I checked daily.) I kept my distance from my
Grandparents.

A few weeks ago my grandpa was hospitalized and they found live bugs on him and my grandma. I did visit them & did an intense cleaning protocol when I got home - clothes bagged, stripped down outside, clothes and shoes in dryer, car left on 100 degree pavement for a full day. All good.

Last week, my family came to visit and we went to my aunt’s house who has helped my grandparents with their bedbug extermination prep. She wore a hazmat suit around them and showered at the community center and threw all the clothing/shoes away after each visit. After visiting my aunt, my partner got a straight line of bites up their leg. That’s not how mosquitoes bite, so I ripped apart my mattress and found one single bed bug hiding in the crease (pictured.) I still haven’t been bitten and don’t see signs of more bugs. We looked everywhere. No fecal droppings or shedding either.

Regardless, I hired a bedbug detection dog to come tomorrow and will be paying $2k for a whole house heat treatment on Friday. I will then apply crossfire and cimexa everywhere. I feel so deeply traumatized by this and just want it to be over, even if my reaction is overkill. Has anyone had success getting rid of a very small (1 bug) infestation? I fear there are more hiding. I only see horror stories of how you never ever get rid of them. I’m spiraling so bad.

I just inspected my hotel mattresses and saw things of this nature. Seems more like coffee stains and…….set in urine stains probably from what I looked at. This was the one that concerned me if it was bed bugs (this is not one of the previously mentioned stains).. I see no actual bugs or anything in the corners of the mattresses.

So—bed bugs or can I sleep soundly tonight? Aside from the other gross things……I’ll be too tired after this extended shift to care……..unless it’s bed bugs.

I am currently vacationing in a cabin in the woods. It's a popular tourist place but there are no bug nets around so you get all kinds of critters in the cabin all the time.

I noticed this one when it started crawling on my glasses while I was lying in bed.

Have been here for a week, didnt see anything like it before, no bites, did a visual check on arrival and haven't noticed anthing.

In the past I have been bitten by a bed bug. I caught it easily (there was just one) and encased my mattress and box spring in plastic wrap. That was 4 years ago.

I am now getting itchy bumps that could be from a new bed bug. They're not welts like I had before so I don't know. Where should I be looking and checking for bed bugs with my mattress and box spring already in plastic?

I've checked under the sheet on one side of the bed. I've checked under the mattress pad. My bed is up against a wall which makes it difficult. I haven't seen any blood spots or droppings.

Basically one room of the house got infested. I went apeshit and killed them. mattress protector with a zipper(never taped the zipper so screw me I guess) then I put a regular plastic topper on that. I plastic wrapped the shit out of the box springs and then proceeded to crossfire the living shit out of everything in the room. I also bought a steamer and steamed everything to hell and back several times for several days.

Truth is though that I found 2 bed bugs in my own room. Just one on my pillow and one on my cats bed. I threw both away. I've always kept a plastic topper on my mattress, I only slipped a few times and didn't have one on there. I don't think my bed ever got infested. I sprayed my room with whatever generic stuff from lowes and let it ride. I also found a baby in my closet. I sprayed the piss out of the tote he was on with the generic stuff. In my room my closet has no door. I have a dirty and clean clothes basket that I nuzzle in there. In the corner of my small closet there are 2 totes on with a lid and then the other(which is on top of the previous tote) is full of construction tools and the like. I have 2 work bags set on top of the open tote. in the other corner is some other things. There is one tied trash bag of clothes off of the floor in the corner without the totes.

I haven't seen a bed bug since the crossfire treatment and spraying my room. I want my closet back but I won't lie I'm pretty scared that deep in some crevice there is a bed bug that is still alive. I wanted to organize my closet today and hang clothes back in there but I'm scared guys.

Edit: I am seeing no signs of bed bugs in the closet. I really only deep checked the one side of the totes.

Apologies for the pic (it’s super tiny so it’s hard to get any kind of detailed pic), but can anyone tell me if this is a bedbug? i do have some anxieties around this kind of thing, so even though i’m pretty good at identifying bedbugs, it’s hard when it’s your own situation. but for context, the head is basically indistinguishable from the body. it looks like a teardrop. it’s black in color. so all these factors are making me think no, but it’s the closest thing to a bedbug i’ve seen in person so i’m not sure

We discovered the first bed bug shortly after my daughter was born. There was a small infestation on our mattress (something like 15) and we had it professionally treated. We waited a couple months and were still finding the odd bug. We ended up hiring a different company and did a whole house treatment again. They also inspected and found nothing except a small infestation on the mattress.

The second service came with a guarantee and they have been back about every 3 to 6 weeks for now almost a year. When they come, we strip and heat the bedsheets and blankets and they inspect the mattress, bedframe, lift up the boxspring, check the curtains, open drawers, and they always find a very small number (1-6) and spray the area again.

But then I'll find one two or three weeks later often in random places in broad daylight like on the bathroom wall on the opposite side of the house, on the couch downstairs (but we tore it apart and found nothing else), on a book, walking on the dresser, in my toddler's potty, etc. The exterminator will schedule and come out again and round and round we go. They tell us they are baffled that we still have them.

We got rid of the bassinet and crib months ago and my daughter was sleeping in a playpen, but just found one there a week ago so I got rid of it (but found no evidence of bugs after taking it apart) because the exterminators said they won't treat toddler beds or playpens. They did spray the perimeter of her room.

Mattress is encased, we took apart and got rid of the bedframe, we took down and stored our curtains.

We live in a standalone house, not very close to our neighbors.

Why can't we get rid of them? Any ideas or suggestions? I'm expecting a baby again and really want this nightmare to be over.

So I just found out my room (house?) has bed bugs over from [r/whatsthisbug](r/whatsthisbug) :( I don’t use reddit at all so this is my first time posting. The first bed bug we found was outside, on our living room floor. The second one was on the bathroom floor (wet and dead.) But, I think I’ve spotted some eggs? Or baby bed bugs? Generally on the floor of my room :( So they’re probably all localized here :/

Just for context, the house I live in is pretty old and was badly made, so there are a lot of issues with our room, including the wooden floorboards having deep cracks and holes in them. (This is also where I think they’re hiding and repopulating…) Our cabinets also have a lot of our clothes in here too, and I share a room with my sibling, so we also have a lot of posters/stuffed toys/decorations up. Also, despite both of us being here, I’m the only one getting bit. So either she doesn’t show a reaction to the bites or they just like my blood better? I don’t really know.

Anyways, what would be the plan of action for this? We started putting all the decorations and stuffed toys into plastic bags, and cleaning out the room in general. Should we take down and seal everything in the room? I mean, that makes sense, it’s just overwhelming… there’s just so, so much stuff to think about, and it’s almost the end of summer before school starts again, I’m so worried and stressed out. :(
