Butcher block bacon hand sliced at home. :) Had a side of bacon too!

Found on the clearance shelf of a local Mexican import shop.

A strong bacon smell when opening the plastic packaging and the same smell wafted from the microwave while popping. But upon tasting... bland as Hell. Almost no salt. A very weak smokey flavor.

Disappointing.

I left cooked bacon out on the counter a little over 3 hours before I remembered to put it in the fridge. Is it still safe?

This little piggy wasn’t lonely for long.

It was an end cut from a pork belly I cured and smoked. The picture doesn’t do it justice. It was actually quite thick and almost a meal in itself.

And it was only $299 a pound! There’s 3 Aldis with a 5 mile radius of where I live and I went to each and cherry picked through what they had. There’s largest one was only around 3 pounds but I’m sure they’ll cure and smoke just the same.

I have a friend who lives a bit of a drive for me. He loves my bourbon candied bacon. Would it be alright if I mailed/shipped him some? Sorry if it's a dumb question.

We have been making our own bacon for the last 3 years. We do a 2 week cure in the fridge. Rinse for 1 hour. Dry. Then maple syrup and pepper on both sides. It stays in the fridge overnight then cold smoked for 8h. Then sliced after a par freeze. We package it into 350g bags.

No store bought bacon can compete with it.

Hubby loves all things pork so I made a candied bacon clothesline for people to pluck at his birthday.

Bacon wrapped loin chops. I use my super secret pork dry rub and blended bbq sauce. This this would be a good meal for a first date? She wants to do dinner and a movie at my place.
