Hello,

I have watched countless videos on how to rotate a drawing using UCS and then Plan current. This changes the coordinates, as is expected. However, when I do UCS World like all the videos suggest, it doesn’t fix my coordinates back to the original. Instead, my drawing has a whole new set of coordinates. I don’t know why this is happening and I’m getting really frustrated now.

Someone, anyone, please help 🥹🙏

What I have established is that when I copy my drawing into a new template, it DOES work how you would expect it to, which means idk what I did in my first template, but somehow I unknowingly messed up my UCS/ORIGIN etc. whatever 😭

Edit 1: This is for a school assignment. So I don’t know much and am still pretty new to AutoCAD. I had the class this morning, but my teacher doesn’t really know much… (he’s not the one that designed the class and made the lecture videos that I used to complete the assignment). He basically just told me to leave it at the rotated angle in model space and change the ucs in the viewport. Which worked, as it didn’t affect the coordinates.

But… if I want to draw things horizontal (in MODEL SPACE) so that it shows up horizontal on the viewport, then that doesn’t really help, because my drawing isn’t horizontal (and they tell us not to draw anything in the viewport).

One thing I think I realized, is that if i use the ucs, leave it on the wrong coordinates while I write my stuff or whatever, and then align 2 known points back to their original coordinates, that should work?? Though now that I’m thinking about it… could that have been what actually messed everything up??

I’m currently a CAD Manager on a small construction team for a college, and I’ve been in the field for 5ish years. My job is *supposed* to be that I manage our library of blocks and designs and create designs when needed. Over the last year, my job has changed to where I’m taking on a project management role as well because we have too much work for our project managers to keep up with. To note, I’ve handled the 2nd largest project on our team in the last year. With this, I still have my current CAD workload, so I’ve been exceptionally busy at times. I’m not necessarily against the extra workload, but I’m stuck here realizing that the PMs I work beside make essentially double what I make, while I’m doing 2 jobs. Because this is a public education position, I’m stuck with a yearly percentage raise given out to the entire college, so I can only truly raise my salary by having a title change. What title could I request that fits both the role of CAD Manager and Project Manager within a construction team?

As I see it, there are the two options built in for transferring settings: Migrate from Previous Release (on same computer only) or Export/Import Settings (same version release only).

I don't see a quick solution for transferring settings from an older version of AutoCAD on an older PC to a newer AutoCAD version on new computer and it might have to be done manually. Is that correct?

Our office is getting new PCs for everyone and it will take some effort to do the settings transfer if it has to be done manually. I'm comfortable doing it myself, but most others I'd have to help with. If there is a quicker way I'd be happy to know it.

When placing lines, especially construction lines, I often SEE double lines that go away with zoom.
is this normal? is there a way to correct this? (It's not a 'Seeing double' issue. Autocad is displaying 2 lines. I have a screenshot, but apparently, this sub doesn't allow pics

Hey all, might be the wrong place to ask but worth a shot. I have recently completed a cert IV in drafting which was taught through AutoCAD 2D, and I’m currently learning Fusion under my own steam.

I was wondering if there were some resources I could access that would function similar to a job board.

Learning AutoCAD and Fusion is relatively easy, whereas getting real world experience isn’t due to job shortages in my area.

I need some simple help, someone that knows there was around a set of architectural drawings.

I need detail tags located and placed on the elevations for now, that's it. someone that knows the difference between plan and section and can find where a detail is on an elevation by looking through plans/wall sections etc.

So I have a whole new PC (yay) using AutoCAD LT on it and it seems to be working great, snappy, fast, i'm happy. But then it seems to slow down just a tad on the mouse, almost its really smooth but slower and takes half a second more to get where it is supposed to go? I feel like I am going insane trying to understand whats going on with it as i can't find anyone else with this issue.

It feels like I am playing a game just under 30fps where it looks smooth but you can tell its not right

How do I get it back?

Hey everyone. I’m a Draughting student who dabbled in a little bit of architecture it was cool but not really as exciting as when I was doing my Draughting course which involved building Draughting , mechanical Draughting , piping Draughting etc. I’ve been leaning heavily into mechanical now but I’m still not sure what I’d like to do I like the idea of Draughting planes and F1 cars but also learnt they use a different programe and that’s a bit of a jump ( I’m familiar with inventor and fusion. Solidworks is new to me but I’m aware it’s a big dawg in the mechanical world ) I’ve also realised I don’t really wanna be an engineer or architect but more so the guy who brings it to life. Who gets the drawings done etc I don’t really wanna design from scratch. Any advice and tips would be appreciated ( I’ve done two years in Draughting strictly Draughting and one year of architecture ) I need to make a decision cause time is going and I don’t wanna be stuck in this limbo forever

Hey All _ I'm an absolute novice when it comes to dynamic blocks but would like to start using them for my projects. I currently have some I've received from a consultant which are great, but I need to slightly modify for my office's standards.

The block in question ( image below ) is of a dining table, and it has variables for the size/number of dining chairs. The entities for it are all an assigned color and I'd like to change it to 'by layer'.

How do I change each variable? I don't think I can explode it as it will lose it dynamic properties.

Is it worth it just to buy the software and follow YouTube tutorials, or just figure out on my own? I already have a job offer, I just need to learn the skill. Do I enroll in an official class? The person hiring me doesn’t care if I have a certificate or not, they just need the work done.

I'm currently considering enrollment for an online AutoCAD course, but I wanted to know if they are worth it in general. I know they give you certifications, but I wonder if those are any good for finding work.

For context, I'm a Digital Arts graduate with knowledge of 3D modeling, so I figured jumping into CAD software wouldn't be too much of a stretch. However, this also means I have no experience in any engineering field.

I opened a drawing, and the viewport that i set earlier this month, shifted 2211399.7668 away. but another vp on the same page is correct. i fix it, purge, audit, save and close. but when i just opened it, it did it again. im about to flip a table. why?

Just wondering if y'all have been encountering licensing error more common as of recent? Resuming from sleep or hibernation always seems to mess with the licensing software somehow.

I have a question as someone who's new to annotative objects.

See the screenshot at this link of an annotative multileader that I've placed in my drawing in model space. It has two annotative scales: 1/4" = 1'-0" and 1" = 1'-0". At the moment, I'm working on the drawing at the 1/4" scale.

If I adjust the leader's landing location or the locations of the leaders, it only moves it at the current scale that I'm working in. The other scale stays where it is. I could see how sometimes you would want that so you can move the leaders separately at different scales, but what if you want them to align? Is there some way to move the leader arrowhead points or landing points together?

What's the best practice for managing these? It seems like if I want to move the bubble head of my annotation, I should use the MOVE command to move the entire multileader. That way the different scales stay together.

Do people just get used to the objects being in different locations sometimes? If I delete the 1" scale and then recreate it, will the 1" scale be reset to the 1/4" scale location?

I had to re-load my CAD software and I've lost access to the lisp routine I was using to draw insulation.

The routine was insulbattpoly.lsp written by someone called Kent Cooper? It used to be available on Cadalyst, but it seems to have disappeared.

Does anyone have it?

Hi! Im sorry if im not explaining myself well, it was also kinda hard to understand what the task was.

I was asked to make a block where, when another block (from other archive) is placed on top of it, the part underneath the front block disappears. The problem is that i cannot make the Hatch/Wipeout inside the blocks from the other file. It has to be on the block that is behind them. I was thinking to make a new layer with a hatch hiding them but the other blocks have different measures so i cant do all the possible combinations.

If someone can help me on this ill be grateful.

AutoCAD Mac 2024, Can you no longer do continuous orbit with the 3DCorbit command or from the view>orbit dropdown?

I’ve always worked with Orpho on then held shift to temporary turn it off when needed, recently shift is doing nothing and I can’t figure out why

[RESOLVED - THANK YOU] I know the command line is OSNAP but I was looking to see if I could change the shortcut button from F3 to another key...like F4 or F8 or something. My keyboard has the volume function on the F3 key so it's a hassle to get around. Please advise, thanks!

Im attempting to recreate this part, which is notorious for breaking in Kitchen Aid mixers. The plan is to make it out of a harder material. The second link shows an odd curve that im not sure how to measure or plot in autocad. Any advice would be helpful.
