From what I can tell, all Autodesk 2027 products have removed the ability to set the registry key to turn off the AI stuff. They also do not offer a way to point their AI stuff to either their Autodesk for Government AI or our own FedRamp AI.

I can't find a customer responsibility matrix for this, and I'm really frustrated they would do this KNOWING how many companies are scrambling for CMMC Compliance this year.

Edit: We found some IP's to block, but then everyone's licensing stopped working. Support has been not very helpful for this.

Edit 2: Not kidding. This is some bs. Are we really the only company using Inventor and Autocad for aerospace and defense? From their support:

I understand your frustration. There is no way to permanently disable the AI function contained in some of our products. I cannot answer as to “why” a software is designed in a particular fashion as that direction comes from our development group. You can submit requests to development in our feedback portal, but this would not be a quick solution. Still, I have a link if you are interested:Sending Product Feedback to Autodesk.

You have mentioned CMMC compliance, which appears to be your goal. Government certification is very specific and most of our products are not usable in this environment. There are no items that can be turned off to make our applications CMMC compliant.

Only our specific FedRamp offerings make this requirement.

Are any Autodesk Products compliant with CMMC Level 2 standards

We have some offerings with our AFG products, but there are only a few and neither Inventor nor AutoCAD are part of this. If you want more information on our Autodesk for Government offerings/licensing, you can contact sales here. They should be able to explain the offering and what it would entail. 

The cost of your subscription software has become almost unreachable for a one person small business owner. You barely change anything with new versions and switching to a new version is a horrible process.

Has anyone been through an audit? This is an incredibly opaque and frustrating experience.

"Run this tool. Ok now pay us money."

They're unwilling (unable?) to explain their findings. The only finding I've managed to confirm is that we do have an invalid placeholder serial number in some old MSI packages. And some very old PCs (still holding software installed from those MSI packages) were flagged. They used to connect to a network license server (which no longer exists).

The problem is that those PCs *cannot currently launch the software that they are claiming was illegal*. We are being asked to enter a serial number when we try to launch on those "illegal" installations. This is expected, the license server is gone.

Autodesk is absolutely certain that we ran the software. The only way I can see that happening is if the users cracked the software but have since uninstalled the crack - because there's no evidence of it. I would want to know if this happened.

Has anyone ever managed to get a useful response out of Autodesk? We've been going around in circles on the above points, they seem to just be entitled to money any time they ask for it.

I am looking for recommendations on the best software and workflow to establish a centralized "master model" for the factory I am working in.

Our factory relies on a 70-year-old infrastructure that undergoes continuous annual retrofits. We manage these upgrades using a mix of internal engineering and external contractors, but our design data is heavily fragmented on separate project folders with zero connection to each other.

Our current data assets we have include:

• Autodesk Inventor and Vault for internal mechanical and equipment design (too granular for overall layouts). Autocad for electrical etc.
• Some areas and equipment fully modeled as built in hosue.
• General layout in 2D AutoCAD files of all 4 floors and site plans.
• High-detail laser scans (point clouds) of several factory areas.
• Contractor-provided expansion models in different formats. .ifc, .nwd, solidworks assemblies etc.
• Occasional use of Navisworks for us to follow contractor builds
• 98% Full P&ID

We need a software ecosystem to put these disconnected assets into a single, up-to-date base model. This will could serve as a more reliable guide for preliminary project planning, layout sizing, and clarified data exchange with outside engineering firms. While we have the capacity to reformat and migrate our data internally on the side, we need guidance on the proper direction as we do not have experience with that. Later we will : )

Specifically, I would appreciate your insights on the following questions:

1. What software ecosystem best bridges the gap between precise mechanical data (Inventor), 2D legacy plans, scanned drawings, point clouds, and contractor files?
2. Should we expand within our existing Autodesk system. Navisworks, Revit?

This does not need to happen in one night but we would like to start before its too late. And we would like not to outsource this completely to keep and get some knowledge in-house.

It's time. We waited long enough and it's time for autodesk to step up and support their products on linux. Personally im an architect (uisng revit and autocad) and wanted to shift to linux, but because of this problem, im stuck with windows. I hope someday these programs will be available on linux.

Hi all,
I am a native Maya user with some basic 3DS and very basic Revit knowledge and regularly have to work with Revit files generated by an engineering firm with a view to animating, rendering and generally "Giving a bit of bling" as they call it, to the models.

The thing is, some of the engineering projects are quite frankly huge (think plant and ductwork for hospitals or massive factory)

I can isolate systems, architecture and structure in revit and export them straight as FBX files but pulling the FBX into Maya gives me a number of issues.

1. FBX illegal ascii character naming turning every shape name into a string of FBXASC codes
   
2. Topology is crap - Anything that is cylindrical / spherical looks like a nightmare of broken glass for example, even basic cubes for walls can be a huge mess of tri's
   
3. Colossal amount of repeated objects - A pipe for example that could be a single cylinder for a couple of hundred metres is a hundred repeat objects all of which are a mess of unnecessary polys (kinda following on from point 2)
   
4. Material exports - every object has the same material and in many cases one per object...

There's a few thing I worked around like cleaning up the naming with a python script to hunt down the FBX strings and replacing them with underscores (not ideal but it works) and doing a "merge duplicate materials" in hyper-shader. But some of these can take a huge amount of time and in some cases crash out Maya entirely.

Does anyone have any tips / suggestions or advice for dealing with any of these issue or a completely different workflow. In some cases with larger projects I can lose days to conversion process to get these things into Maya and usable so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The chat said that creating custom installs (Like for Inventor Read Only 2027) that the installer can only create the shortcuts if the package includes the full Inventor product?

WHY? There's a checkbox RIGHT THERE that says I would like the shortcuts created.

I use an Autodesk educational license and I am currently unable to access my account even after entering my password because I do not receive the two-factor authentication email.

I checked my spam/junk folder and it is empty. I also successfully receive other emails from Autodesk, so the mailbox itself appears to be working normally. However, the 2FA verification email never arrives.

My email is a university email address. Has anyone experienced this before or found a solution?

I already tried:

• Checking spam/junk folders
• Resending the code multiple times
• Trying different browsers/devices

Constantly erases the chat, starts over, very clunky and unpleasant to use.

I am an IT administrator and purchased two AutoDesk Fusion licenses. I added two users to the account and licensed them. They are getting an error that a Fusion Hub has not been created and is needed to use the product. I created a hub, but since my account is unlicensed, I only have "Basic" access and can't add anybody to it.

What is the fix for this? I don't want to buy anything more than I need to. A ticket was submitted to AutoDesk but they have not yet responded with what I need to do.

Especially the tubing and then making the 2d drawing?

I am a BIM Manager for an MEP firm and we specialize in Mission Critical Engineering (data centers). Like most MCE, we partner with other consultants like Architects, Civil, and Structural firms to execute projects.

We currently use SharePoint for data storage and rely on our consultants (typically Arch) to host the project on ACC for the Revit models.

SharePoint has little to offer in terms of project management and has bandwidth limitations. ACC is our best option (since we need it for Revit) and we are exploring hosting more project data up there. My first question is, how many companies are actually using ACC for this purpose, where you store all related data up there?

With our models hosted on another hub we face other challenges that add risk. We can lose access to our models, have no backup, have unauthorized access to models.... Yes we have a robust BXP in place but rules are always broken, and its the risk we are concerned with not the execution. Have any other MEP firms pulled their models back to their own ACC and used bridge to share? What frequency do you publish? What tool do you use to publish? ACC limits this to once a week and that is not frequent enough.

On the other side if you need the consultants models published and bridged back to your ACC, how are you doing that?

god, im so frustrated with autodesk software's. why is it duplicating and not entirely removing the previous versions master file? even though i downloaded the newer version so now my laptop is not recognizing the new ver. as my main app even though the prev. ver. is already uninstalled, pls help. im in the middle of my thesis.

Hello everyone in the sub, I'm new here and I have a doubt. The thing is that I have an Educational License to all the Autodesk catalog (I assume that's the same for everyone else), and I had activated both AutoCAD (for a course) and Fusion (for any project). The thing is I had to Re-verify my student status as every year, but it only affected my AutoCAD licenses (Web and Desktop). I checked and my educational license also affects Fusion, but internally didn't went through. I just contacted someone from support and went along the steps they gave me to "trick the subscription timer", but couldn't went any further (since I use Windows 10, and I know from the notification they don't support W10 anymore). So here I insert the title, do anybody has this problem?

P.D: Changing from W10 to W11 is not a possibility, because I have enough with the Slop Microsoft have on W10 (tho I have the extended security updates)

Edit: I got an answer from the Support Rep… They cancelled my subscription and told me to try and subscribe through education overview again. It worked.

Office PC has Inventor installed. I’m remoting in via Windows RDP from home. The USB dongle is physically plugged into my home laptop, and Inventor on the office PC obviously can’t see it.

I assumed RDP “USB redirection” would pass it through, but no luck. The dongle software on the remote side just says “no key found.”

Is there a way to make a dongle appear locally on the remote machine, or is the only option plugging the dongle into the office PC?

Windows 11 is a mess, Windows 12 will probably be even worse. I get that the market probably isnt huge at the moment, but a little of people are switching yo Linux or Mac because of how bad Windows is.

Hi everyone, hoping for a bit of insight if possible!

We've recently started using BIM Collaborate Pro and are getting set up properly with the Design Collaboration module, but in no project that we've set up are we able to select a 'Main Model'. I'm not sure if we're doing something wrong, but there's never an option in the drop down menu for setting it up, so I feel as though we're missing a trick, and likely missing out on some functionality.

Has anyone got any experience/ advice on that which might be able to point me in the right direction? I've not been able to find much about it elsewhere. Thanks!

I have seen various people with issues on this online however I am looking for better clarification. My employer moved our locally saved files to One Drive over a year ago. Since then my design team has been having frequent syncing issues. We work with Autodesk Architecture and are having issues with our DWG files not syncing until hours later, work seemingly just lost, duplicate files, etc. These issues have occurred even after we can see the file says it is synced. It doesn't happen every day but say a couple times a week amongst the team. When we bring this up to IT we are simply told to wait for it to sync. However we can see that isn't a resolution as I said before, this happens at times after we see it says it is synced.

The clarification I am looking for: Should we be using One Drive for storing our DWG files that we collaborate in or should we be using a different cloud storage or collaboration tool instead?

I tried alot of solutions but nothing works, is there any alternative solution to try?

Autocad se cerrará ahora. adlsdk_status_internal_error 10003 failure due to misconfiguration" he intentado con muchas cosas y todo lo que me ha indicado el asistente IA que tienen el autodesk pero nada me ha funcionado he vuelto a instalar lo he instalado nuevamente y sigue sin funcionar y me sigue saliendo el mismo error.

I am currently a junior and I have been trying land an internship for summer. However, if I don't get a job, I plan to do another step which is to learn the AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit. I have been looking at youtube for training/learning, but I wanted to make a post here if there are any specific videos I should watch that you all think is best for learning. I don't want to just watch a video and then waste my time so I want to ensure I watch the best possible videos. Thank you.

Ok, so this is a niche question, but I am looking for anyone here so uses the Aasets tool feature in Autodesk Builds. Specifically, I am trying to determine the best brand/type of sticker paper to use to print out the QR codes.

The Builds asset tool allows you to make QR codes for every asset that you can then download load as a .pdf. The PDF puts 12 QR codes on each page (3 columns, 4 rows) and each QR code is a 2x2 inch block. But for whatever reason, they don’t line up with any of the brands of 2x2 12 per page sticker sheets that I have bought. Part of the QR code always gets cut off from the sticker. I’ve tried Uline and Avery so far, what brand should I be using?

So i've just enrolled as a student as a Technical designer at the start of this year.

My previous experince with 3D Cad has been with Autodesk inventor, since that's the program they use here in Denmark, to teach us how to make designs, DXF files for laser cutting and mechanical use when educating us to be a steel smith.

I've since april last year been working at a workplace where they use Solidworks, the switch wasn't hard for me, 2 weeks after i started i was practically selfworking making sketches, work drawings for our worksmen in the shop.

Now, i've dipped my toe into Revit, Fusion and AutoCAD - I don't really know how much depth i'm going into each program during my 3 ½ year education, but can AutoCAD be summarized into what makes it great vs less than other programs.

I've also seen some job applications and it varies what program they are using, how do one decide which program to fully master or are we somewhat more like a jack of all trades kind of technical designer?
