Maybe wrong community to post in! But I’m looking for some help.

My absolute favourite trousers were discontinued by Universal Works a few years ago. I’ve unfortunately worn them thread bare in places, and got some stains I can’t get out.

I’m hoping theres a service where they take them apart, trace the patterns, then reconstruct them in a similar fabric? Does such a thing exist? Would this be insanely expensive? Any guidance appreciated!!

Dropped way too much money on some fancy "heritage canvas" chore pants last week from one of the trendy boutiques in the city, genuinely thinking they'd hold up to some weekend abuse. Spent saturday morning under my ute fitting a new bash plate I grabbed from road runner offroad and literally just sliding out from under the chassis once completely tore the knee open

Like mate they charge $240 for these things pretending they are built for the rough outdoors and they cant even survive a single afternoon on a standard concrete driveway. The whole workwear aesthetic right now is such an absolute scam

Anyone else just completely given up and gone back to wearing beat up target jeans when they actually need to get their hands dirty? tbh Im so over paying premium prices for fragile clothes that are just meant for standing around in coffee shops

As the title says, I'm looking for light to mid weight outerwear options that can be worn casually and in a workplace setting.

I have a M65 jacket that I'm slowly discovering is extremely overkill when it comes to midday temperatures and causes me to sweat, plus it's extremely bulky and I find that it gets in the way a lot when sitting down on public transport etc. My previous workplaces had a much more casual dress code where a lot of people would wear hoodies or graphic tees but I've recently started at a new place that's a bit more smart/business-casual.

I'm after something that I can layer on over a button-up and a sweater for the colder days without being too bulky like a puffer or M65. My budget would be ideally around $175 but happy to splurge for something solid.

The Scandi-minimalist brands like Asket and A Day's March look really nice and quality but spending $300+ on something I can't try in person doesn't really sit well with me (plus painful return shipping if sizing goes wrong). Otherwise I've also been eyeing things like the Service Works Twill Chore Shirt or the Uskees 3001 Overshirts, although all the different materials like corduroy, cotton drill, or twill are also adding to the indecisiveness.

I've been going down rabbit-holes with things like chore jackets, overshirts, and harringtons but I'd love to get other opinions on brands / outerwear options before I pull the trigger.

I’m chasing some new tees as my current ones are wearing out.

The algorithm seems to have noticed this as I’m being spammed by True Classic ads and have also noticed some for Alpha Fortis.

For reference, I’m 194cm tall and between 95-100kg

I work an active job and gym 3-5x a week. Not massively overweight but ideally I sit closer to 95kg.
I wouldn’t describe my physique as low bf athletic, but I fill out arms, chest and shoulders much more than stomach etc

Has anyone here had experience with the alpha fortis shirts?

For reference, I pretty much usually wear under armour shirts in size L for oversized or XL for athletic fit. Biggest struggle is getting the torso long enough while also not having it fit like a tent lol

I’ve been looking into loafers and all the different leathers and the grain types of leather all so I can find a pair of loafers that meet my needs. I’ve always wanted loafers and I’m a very intentional person when it comes to big purchases I always to make sure to pick the best possible product that I can afford within my means. 

Is there any loafers out there, with an upper leather of top grain or less (i fully understand that full grain will cost me an arm and a leg just looking for something thats durable or will last me a while) with good year welt or Blake stitching, all between $200 - $400?

I want something that i can walk around in for a good decent amount of time (yes i am aware of the break-in period of loafers and that some loafers won't always be good for walking around in for hours

In terms of style I like loafers that have a similar look to the doc martens, solovair and sebago loafers (tried on docs once and they were so stiff i may aswell as been wearing a cement shoe)

Are sebago/solovair loafers good entry level loafers even with though they use a corrected top grain leather for their upper?

I’m afraid of getting corrected leather on the possibility it will break down on me after a few years I want shoes that’ll last me for at least 2-5 years 

Can anyone identify this black rib knit short sleeve shirt? It had 6 buttons, one chest pocket, soft knit fabric, around 2021-2023 maybe?

Recently started a new job. I’ve been wearing suit pants since I started as a safe bet, but the office doesn’t really give off that energy.

However, nor does it give off the energy for the type of non-suit pants I’d normally wear for smart casual outside of work (I have Beams Plus double pleated pants in a few different colours which I tend to rotate through).

Without falling to the level of skinny chinos and RMWs, what are you gents wearing to the office?

But I can’t find any posts or reviews about Houndstooth Tailors specifically Has anyone actually had a garment made there? I’m curious about the fit quality, how the fitting process went, and whether the finished product matched what was promised.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some suggestions on brands or specific shirts, pants etc.

I’m not the tallest or skinniest person around so a lot of the time I need to get pants hemmed and a lot of t shirts are super long on me or I at least feel like they are and they’re quite form fitting. I personally like more boxy fit style clothes (please don’t hate me!).

Over the years I’ve found some good fitting clothes that I really like, some oversized tees from Deus Ex, union work chino pants from Thrills, a hoodie from Walker Golf Things and I know this’ll ruffle feathers but the ‘Half Half’ brand box fit tees from Factorie fit me so well and I have a fair few of them.

I genuinely like the boxy fit stuff and regular fit pants, I really dislike overly form fitting clothes.

If anyone has any recommendations on other similar fitting shirts or pants (even better if anyone has more corporate style suggestions) I would greatly appreciate it! 🫶🏻

I need a business suit for more formal events and for work in the future. However, I can’t really splurge on one since I’m a uni student. My budget is probably around at minimum a grand but I’d prefer something pretty inexpensive and temporary for the years to come.

Does anyone know of any places to get a good quality suit for a relatively low price range? P.S I’m a pretty short slim guy but I’m willing to get it tailored as well. Also, would black or navy look better?

Moleskin pants can be the answer, but considering how few sell such they aren't the usual answer.

I have quite severe hallux rigidus, pretty much 24/7 pain, but decent footwear helps

Outside of work I live in Hokas, which really help.

I want cool shoes for work, probably and Chelsea boot or similar, but I need them to be wide, with decent cushioning. Ideally they need to be stiff

Looking for a slim, lightweight leather briefcase for short business trips and days where I’m away from my desk with meetings. I have a Bellroy backpack as my everyday pack mule. Work in finance.

My carry will be pretty minimal: an iPad, notebook/papers, small travel umbrella, tech cords, and occasionally room to stuff a thin merino sweater.

How’s the quality of their stuff? Hard to tell with these online only brands these days, see heaps of praise for Satchel & Page stuff from influencers but also scathing reviews on Reddit so feels like general trend with these brands towards eventual enshittification.

Budget is around $500 Aussie, I travel to the US once a year for work so could find something in NYC but most likely won’t get anything for under US$500 and get smashed by the exchange rate.

I’m a bit skeptical the ROF is high quality given the price, seems too cheap? Not after an heirloom piece but willing to spend $500 of it means better quality and patina etc, nice hardware and zippers would be really nice, not after high end luxury but something better than entry level…if that makes sense. I would prob only use it several weeks a year so won’t be a daily beater.

I'm getting married next June and about to start looking into wedding suits. I'm looking at spending anywhere between $1500-$2000 for my suit and maybe around $1000 each for the groomsmen excluding their shoes, ties etc.

I don't know the first thing about suit shopping and what places are considered within this allocated budget or not 😂 I would like to get the boys a nice suit if I could but I'm aware $1000 each makes the pool of options a bit more scarce. I guess at the very least, a step above your Connor and Tarocash store bought suits.

I'm open to anything, whether that still be off the rack at say a Myer or renting suits etc I'm just wondering if anyone would be able to steer me in the right direction or share their own experiences buying a wedding suit for themselves and their groomsmen!

On 03/01/24, I paid Andrew Taylor, trading as Mr A Taylor, $2,655 for two custom jackets. He delivered no jackets and did not give my money back.

What followed was a 2.5 year dispute involving repeated refund promises that did not materialise, tribunals and courts in two states, and a court-supervised payment plan before repayment. This ran through my wedding planning, wedding, and honeymoon.

This review was originally posted on Mr A Taylor’s Google business profile. After it disappeared from public view, along with another negative review, I decided to share my experience here.

03/01/24: I paid Andrew $2,655.

21/04/24: The date Andrew said he would deliver the jackets. The jackets were not delivered. I followed up multiple times with no response.

16/06/24: Having received no communication from Andrew, no jackets, and no refund, I lodged the matter with Queensland’s small claims tribunal, QCAT.

19/06/24: Once the legal documents were issued, Andrew emailed to admit the jackets had never been made. He offered a refund, but none followed.

04/12/25: QCAT mediation took place. Andrew did not attend.

By this stage, Andrew was telling me he did not have the means to repay my money. In the same month, on 30/12/24, public Instagram posts showed Andrew in California proposing to his girlfriend.

24/04/25: Following the mediation attempt, QCAT held a hearing while I was on my honeymoon in Europe. I tried to move the date but could not. I spent one day preparing, then woke up at 4am the next day to attend by phone and argue my case. Andrew did not attend. I lost two days of my honeymoon to this dispute. QCAT made a decision in my favour for $3,098.42, which was converted into an official court order in both QLD and NSW so I could start legal enforcement action.

During enforcement, Andrew would not provide an address for service of the legal docs despite 4 requests. I had to pay process servers to find and serve him. One attempted service 7 times and reported: “if the subject lives at this address he is avoiding service.” A second process server was able to serve him at the same address.

His court-mandated financial statement arrived late and incomplete. In a sworn affidavit, he said he made no money from tailoring, promised supporting documents by email, these were never received. A sworn affidavit is written evidence given to the court as a statement of truth. 

That was odd, because his public Instagram showed 10+ client-related tailoring posts during the dispute period. I raised these inconsistencies with the court. Andrew did not explain them or provide updated financial info. Instead, he blocked me on Instagram, despite me never contacting him there.

09/12/25: More than 2 years of waiting for my refund, another customer posted a negative Google review because of Andrew’s poor communication and late delivery of a wedding suit. Andrew responded publicly and offered that customer a refund within 24 hours. It was hard to reconcile this with Andrew still not refunding me despite 2 court orders. [This negative review along with mine have since disappeared from his Google profile.]

Over the dispute, Andrew offered me a full refund or proposed a payment plan several times. Each time, the money did not arrive as promised. This became a repeated pattern: promise payment, miss the deadline, then only engage again after further pressure or legal steps.

24/10/25: A court date was set requiring Andrew to attend and provide complete financial information. Failure to attend this type of hearing can result in an arrest warrant being issued.

Conveniently, less than 24 hrs before the hearing, Andrew requested a court-supervised payment plan. As a result, the hearing was cancelled. Attached to that payment plan was another sworn affidavit stating that he made no money from tailoring.

It then took Andrew 6 months to pay the money owed to me under the court-managed payment plan.

30/06/26: Final payment, ending a dispute that had taken 2.5 exhausting and frustrating years.

Business delays happen. This was different. Andrew took payment, delivered no jackets, did not pay the refund he offered, missed QCAT mediation, missed the QCAT hearing, and only repaid me after court-managed enforcement. I would not trust him with a wedding, a deadline, or a refund.
