we got this boy when I was 12. now I'm 22 and he's dying in my bath, my grandma is on the vacation so I took him to my flat. he was sick for a couple of months now, his paws failed, we treated him, he started walking again, and this morning I found him with his paws failing again. I took him to the vet and they injected him with his medication (my granny usually does his injections because shes a doctor herself, I can't do them so I take him to the vet). after an hour when we got home he started having convulsions looking like death throes, he has foaming at his mouth, he's screaming and doing things with his all four paws like he's drowning. I called the vet and they said he's probably dying. I sent a video to my granny and she said there's nothing we can help him now. They all say we should put him to sleep. He's so young, he's only 10. He has a lymphoma, but we were treating him, apparently it was far too late when we started treatment. I don't want to be the one to kill him. I know I have to because he's in a great pain and I don't want him to suffer. I just don't know. I called to several vets and sent them video of his convulsions, they all say it's death throes and he can't be reanimated, even if i do he'll die in a couple of days, he'll just spend these days suffering. Please tell me I'm not a monster for putting him to sleep. I'm currently waiting for my mom to come to me so I'm not alone at this moment. I also have my own cat and she looks at him suffering. I hate loving animals so much and being so powerless.

Hi, just wanted to seek some advice from you lovely people because I'm a bit confused about the advice given about my cat and whether to euthanize.

She's 12 and up until two days ago she was healthy, happy, eating and pooping regularly and full of her usual beans. Yesterday morning I woke up to a few piles of sick around the house. As the morning went on she got more lethargic and then early afternoon she did a huge pink sick that looked like it was pink because of blood. Then she became super lethargic and has barely moved since. She's just been sitting with her paws submerged in her water bowl looking miserable. She hasn't been sick since though, but hasn't eaten either.

She's been to the vet yesterday afternoon and this morning and they said her stomach is enlarged, full of fluid, and looks abnormal on the scans. They can't say why though. They said her heart rate and temperature are super low and her body is shutting down. They said they could do an exploratory operation to see what is going on with her stomach but at her age they wouldn't recommend it and have recommended euthanasia.

I'm just a bit confused at her sudden collapse and worried it could be something fixable like something she has eaten. She loves to try to eat plastic whenever she can get her paws on it, so I'm worried it could be something fixable like a blockage. Putting her down without understanding what is wrong just seems odd, and 12 doesn't feel old where she wouldn't be able to come back from this?

Two days ago, I lost my 14-year-old baby boy, a Scottish Fold who had been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at age 6. His condition had been stable for years—no hospitalizations, no episodes of heart failure, and normal kidney function. Other than arthritis and dental issues, he was overall a very healthy and happy cat.
In May 2026, his pro-BNP came back elevated at around 1,000, and we had an echocardiogram and cardiology appointment scheduled for this week. Unfortunately, on Tuesday, he suddenly became paralyzed in both back legs from a saddle thrombus.
At the ER, I was prepared to pay the $8,000 they quoted us for just 24 hours of hospitalization to give him a chance. But considering his age, concurrent heart failure, mildly elevated creatinine, and poor overall prognosis, my husband and I—after also speaking with a veterinarian friend—made the devastating decision to euthanize him rather than prolong his suffering.
Now I can’t stop questioning whether we made the right decision. Everything happened so suddenly, and I was too emotionally overwhelmed to think clearly. Part of me wonders whether we should have hospitalized him for 24–72 hours just to see if he could recover.
I’ve read conflicting information about cats surviving the initial period and eventually regaining function in their back legs. I also keep wondering whether starting clopidogrel (Plavix) earlier, before he ever developed a clot, could have prevented the initial saddle thrombus.
For anyone who has experienced this: Did your cat survive and regain meaningful mobility and quality of life? Was your cat with HCM on clopidogrel before their first saddle thrombus, and did it seem to prevent one? Do you think there was realistically anything else we could have done?
My heart is completely broken, and I think I am searching for some reassurance that we made the right decision for him. I would really appreciate hearing your experiences

A white lump has formed on her lower gums, unsure of what it is. Possibly there earlier but grew to this size very recently, last week or so. Do I need a biopsy? Is it urgent?

* History: He has presented with persistent nasal discharge since October last year that causes sneezing and reverse sneezing episodes. Thick mucus can be pulled out of his nose several times a day. We have gone through 2 CT scans of head and chest and 2 rhinoscopies to check for foreign bodies causing irritation. Biopsies taken have been analysed and have ruled out tumours and ruled out aspergillus. Recently this progressed to pneumonia which was treated with 6mg prednisone once daily and 20mg amoxicillin twice daily for 14 days. Symptoms cleared completely within 3 days and nasal discharge stopped. By day 7 these had started to return despite still being within the 14 day medicated period. Day 14 is today and the sneezing and aggressive snorting have returned. I have tried daily nebulising with 0.9% sterile saline and coupage top help prevent fluid building in the lungs and to loosen the mucus so he can eject it more easily but it does not seem effective.

Any advice welcomed, we are at a loss here and while insured they are refusing to cover this so I have and will likely continue to pour money into this. I have no idea where to go from here and I'm scared this will continue to develop into pneumonia. He is clearly in a lot of discomfort and I feel terrible for him!

Turkish angora, about 5-6 years old, no previous problems or medical history.

While petting my cat the other night I came across a black-ish bump on his upper back legm It's the only one on his body and it doesn't seem to bother him but while searching on the internet I got concerned. It's the size of a pimple or maybe just a tiny bit bigger and a bit hard to the touch, seems a little bit dry as well. If someone could help me identify the problem or help with some advice.

I'm planning on taking him to the vet next week but money is tight and I wanted to check with someone with knoweledge first, maybe it's nothing serious or urgent.

I'm sorry in advance, this is going to be quite long but I am at my wits end.

I am looking for some possible insight into what could be wrong with my cat/cats.

They are 4 year old male tabby brother cats. Neutered, vaccinated, up to date flea and worming.

We are based in England and the cats are uninsured.

We know mum cat- she was a friends kitten who escaped the day before her spay op, got jumped by 4 neighbourhood cats. No known trouble with her, medically.

Cat number 1- very very attached to me, seeks me out etc. Went on holiday when cats were 1, came back and the day after we got home, he was struggling in the litter tray, not weeing, day 2 was weeing blood. Took him to the vets, asked about stress- said about me being away, everyone agreed it was probably that. He was put under GA, catheterised, unblocked, pulled his catheter out in the middle of the night and was sent home in the morning. Happy cat. The urinalysis showed no infection. Sent home with gabapentin and metacam.

Cat number 1- fire alarm randomly goes off about a year later. He immediately runs to the litter tray and sits there. Refuses to get out and does this all day. He was still playing, chatting and eating during this time so we gave him metacam. On day 2, he was weeing fine. Had 3 days of metacam. This happened again about 5/6 months later. Same sequence of events. Seems to run to the litter tray as a comfort blanket almost.

Important to note- when they go off their food, growl when licking themselves, stop playing etc, we take them to the vets.

Cat number 2- we move house, kept in, very unhappy cat. He blocks. At this point, they are 2. Take him in, GA, unblocked, fine- home the next day. Sent home with gabapentin and metacam.

13 months later he gets in a fight and is struggling to wee again. We take him in and they unblock him but he is weeing blood so they keep him in for 48 hours. Sent home with gabapentin and arthrocam.

6 weeks after this, they are both spooked by fireworks. Cat number 1 gets over it after a few hours. Cat number 2 didn't. He blocked again. This time however, he crashed when they GA'd him and couldn't get him back. They catheterised him quickly, woke him up and he was ok. His creatinine sat at nearly 900 after this and he was showing signs of early heart failure. He's kept in and blocks a further two times. Both of these times he's ok under GA. on day 6, his creatinine is ok and he undergoes PU surgery. Comes home with gabapentin, arthrocam, dantrolene and buprenorpine. He has since then, been completely ok. (This was January this year)

Cat number 1 is not happy with his stinky, blood and wee covered brother and refuses to eat near him, drink etc. Starts weeing all over the house but is otherwise ok. After 3 weeks, harmony was restored haha. Cat number 2 has been absolutely fine since.

Cat number 1 however has had a further 5 episodes of cystitis. A vet we saw at some point stated he was happy for us to administer metacam/arthrocam if he shows early signs but isn't unwell enough to come to the vets. We have done this. He also started him on 200mg gabapentin every day to try and help settle his anxiety. On one occasion in maybe March, he wasn't weeing at all so we took him in. He wasn't blocked but they gave him a sedative and painkillers and after a few hours, he weed. Came home with the same cocktail of meds as his brother.

He had another vets trip when he was weeing blood, but the vet didn't listen to me, heard that he was weeing and so sent us home. Went back the next day and was given gabapentin, arthrocam and dantrolene (I think).

Something that may be worth a note- some of these flare ups coincide with me working a lot. I take a day off, we are on drugs and play and he seems to be fine. I don't know if its a coincidence or if the timings are actually something.

A vet I've seen has said he believes there is some sort of genetic component at play. We have a check up in a few weeks for cat number 1 to make sure the meds he is on are correct, but considering the frequency of the cystitis flare ups he is having, surely it can't be? Or do you think there would be something else going on? What can we ask at the vet check up?

He is currently on a flare up, 3 days of arthrocam, he's fine. Day 4 I'm at work but he has been weeing fine. Day 5, no arthrocam, he's fine, I'm at work. I came home and he immediately ran to the litter tray where he spent all night scratching the tray. It was instant. Is it attention?? Is that a thing?!

They are on urinary food, wet and dry. They have cystease tablets every day. They have 2 water fountains. We have 3 feliway plug ins around the house. We are at a loss.

It seems to be every 4 weeks he has a flare. Is it just cystitis? What can I ask for at the vets to get more info? Can he be on dantrolene long term?

As far as we know, he has only fully blocked with a stone/crystal the once when he was one. All other times have been spasms.

They are uninsured and have cost so much but if it ends this, we are happy to pay.

Please, any ideas? I am just so sad for him.

A day ago, I noticed my bernedoodle was really licking down there aggressively. And I saw this bump forming not on the penis, but the sheath. He can still pee fine, and it's not discolored. I just dont know what it is.

He is 5 years old, male, and fixed

So I have a German shepherd who turns 15 next week (on Tuesday the 28th! So proud of my super senior dog for lasting that long, and despite being otherwise healthy and fit) except for exercise, her arthritis makes it hard to have more than two 10 minute walks a day because that's honestly all she can manage. I'm honestly so surprised that a German shepherd has lived that long, considering the average life span can be about 11-13 years, with 13 years being on the realistic end of life for a dog her size and breed. She's taking Stilboesterol for a weak bladder that releases when she's sleeping. She's been on that for about a year and a half, and after a couple of weeks on it completely stopped wetting herself in her sleep. Absolutely no night time accidents at all since starting the pill.

Recently, about maybe 4 months ago, she started pooping inside. But the thing is, she'll wake up from sleep and realises that she needs to poop NOW and starts squatting while also walking to the door so we can let her out. So that seems to me that she understands that pooping is an outside activity. I don't think this is a sign of cognitive decline since she's self aware that she knows where she needs to poop but just can't hold it in for the 2 minutes it would take to rush her to the door and let her do her business. On the few times we actually did manage to get her outside before she shit on our carpet, she would just give up going on the grass and would just poop on the porch. She has also recently peed on the front porch so often that it stinks outside the front door and the smell is seeping through the windows that won't completely shut due to shitty landords

But the thing is, she will sometimes be able to poop with no problem most of the time and she will tell us that she needs to go outside and we take her out. When she has one of her poop episodes, she will ignore us and instinctively go to the door.

Sometimes few times after going outside and peeing, she'll poop inside maybe 2 minutes after returning inside, as if she didn't know that she needed to poop until that very moment.

She has mild arthritis, has pannus but it's not too bad and can see specific people based on their body types from a distance. she'll see me come home and will cry with happiness, she'll see my mum visit and give her cuddles and love, but even then she pooped inside without letting me know before hand.

It's like she suddenly decided that she couldn't wait the 2 minutes it takes to herd her to the door where she's learned to potty all her life. and is almost completely deaf--you have to shout for her to hear you. She's also recently been showing signs of dementia, but not often. She will sundown maybe once a fortnight or so, walking around the house and being very confused, but I don't know if that's the reason, because she's only started it a few weeks after the first poop incident. She also peed inside twice and in the same manner, she woke up, and tried squatting while also trying to make her way to the door to be let out. But the symptoms of her very mild dementia (as diagnosed by one of out loc very (our local vet has about a dozen vets that they rotate on a day/weekly basis which makes it hard to request a dentist that you have a good experience with.

It's just so weird that she's suddenly lost the ability to know that she needs to poop in advance. She used to be taken out before bed for her last potty of the night where she would pee and poop at the same time because she knew that she had a whole night of sleeping/cuddling to do, but now she'll get up several times at night and I've become so hyperaware of this that I haven't been able to have a restful sleep since it started. The moment she wakes up and jumps from the bed on high alert and ready to clean up any messes she made. Sometimes its a false alarm and she just to drink water and eat her dinner (which she eats once every two days and the vets cant figure out why. Tests show that her blood levels are normal and she has no stomach issues. She's been like this since she was a puppy, so likely not related)

Shes just not super hungy. The next day, she'll devour the left over food she didnt eat from the night before as if she's never seem food before. Is this normal behaviour? Its been happening since been happening since she was borm and I just get paranoid whenever she wakes up that she'll make a mess that I have to instantly clean up, like cleaning piss stains (which like I said only happened twice, but I don't know if that's relevant to her pooping problems). Can behaviourists chime in on this, to understand what's going on it her psyche?

She was never like this, she would always come to us if she needed to go outside, and could handle waiting a few minutes for us to get ready to go outside and supervise her and now we're watching her like a hawk to properly document her toilet habits. She poops inside at like 3-4 times a week, sometimes twice in one day. It's really stinking up the house, even more that our cats rancid poops. Her farts have gotten really bad, they used to be mild but now they smell like rancid rotten eggs, which has been going on for a couple of years before all this has happened, and I just chalked it down to dogs will sometimes eat bad food or not eat one day and then eat a full meal the next, which the multiple very that work at the practice who have seen her all claim that it's perfectly normal for a dog to have less of an appetite, especially if they're in pain due to arthritis. And to be fair, her arthritis isn't \\\*too\\\* bad. She still goes on walks, though they're very slow because she can't keep up with me and sniff as a form of enrichment. As a result, i walk super slowly and concentrate on sniffing as a form of mental enrichmet. She doesnt seem to understand concept of fetch anymore, which she used to love over a year ago, she's completely forgotten how to play. She used to play fetch with a random toy and then we'd play tug a war with it and I would let her win after a lot of back and forth between the two of us. Her fave game was also a game we called mouthy/handy where I would put an over mitt on my hands and bait her into playtime and she would gently (super gently, with very little pressure in her bite) bit my hands and it didn't hurt because of the oven mitts. It was one of her fave games. She also really liked fetch, but her Dr told us that fetch puts too much pressure on her joints from the running back and forth, but after a while she got bored of that as well. But all these games she loved feel like foreign cobcents to her, as if she's forgotten how to play the games she grew up on and even played not even a year ago.

Because of her arthritis and it being winter where I am, walks are very short because she is a princess and will complain about rhe cold. Sometimes she refuses to step on cf wet grass and would rather pee on the porch instead, but the problem is that its stinking up the front of the house because out windows are.so badly designed that they let in a centimeter or two of air in in of the smell that is right underneath the window. At first we hosed off the pee stains and it didn't very little to get rid of the smell, so now we have to scrub the entire porch with dishwater soap to get of the smells and the stains.

We have a vet appointment this Thursday because she needs a new bottle of her pee pills, and because she's so old for a dog of her breed her drs want to do blood tests to test her blood count and any problems that are serious for old dogs like heart disease, and she also had giant lumps that haven't grown in size but still worry me, but beause of the many vets that work there, it's unlike you'll come across the same vet twice, and they all share the same sentiment.

So I wanted to know, what do you think is the cause of her problem? Behavioural? Dementia that showed up after the change in personality, or a problem with her bowel movents in the same way she had issues with her bladder.

I'd love some background knowledge so I can properly convey what's happening to the vet and understand what they're talking about because they tend to talk in medical jargon.

About a month ago she had a moderate amount of bright red blood in her stool. A fecal sample showed a bacterial infection, which was treated with antibiotics. The bleeding resolved after treatment (for about 3 weeks)but tonight it happened again.

Since then she’s had a decreased appetite. She still eats every day (an appetite stimulant helps), but definitely less than she used to.

Despite that, she’s maintained or even gained a little weight and is otherwise acting completely normal; playing, running around, and acting like herself.
Blood work and abdominal X-rays have both been normal.

My other cat also had a fecal sample that was clear, but he developed diarrhea today, so now I’m wondering if there could be something infectious going around or if it’s just a coincidence since her symptoms started weeks before his.

I’m calling my vet first thing tomorrow, but I’m really worried. Has anyone had a young cat with a similar history? What did it end up being?

I want to preface this by saying that I am planning on taking my cat to the vet, I just want to see what the vet community online has to say about this.

Since the last 2 weeks my cat has been throwing up hairballs every 3-4 days. Today marks the 4th time he’s thrown up a hairball since 12th July 2026.
It started with a little undigested food which I assumed he ate too quickly. The next few times it was digested food with hairballs.

He has never thrown up this consistently and he’s almost 3 1/2 years old now.

Precautions I have taken -
1) switched to sensitive digestion food by Royal Canine
2) given him wet food for atleast 2 meals for the last few days
3) Made sure he’s drinking enough water via wet food and his water bowl

Today I brushed a bunch of fur off of him and am keeping a watch on him.

Please do let me know if I can do anything else to help prevent this.

7 month old female Australian Cattle Dog/Great Pyrenees, 40lb spayed on Monday.

Monday night did not do well with the cone. Switched her to recovery suit and has had on since.

She has not been interested in her surgery site, not bothered or tried to lick it at all.

Loves the suit, wore an inflatable donut Tuesday night and this morning it was off (she is in my bed).

Can I let her sleep in the suit without the inflatable cone? Just nervous.

Wound looks great, she’s eating/drinking but just crying when going to the bathroom as the position and strain doesn’t probably feel the best.

Vet sent her home with anti-inflammatory for 10 days, 2 Gabapentin a day & 1/2 Traz a day. I am giving her pumpkin to keep things moving she’s had two bowel movements and she is now hesitant to go because prob painful. Vet said it’s to be expected.

Not sure if I am loving the idea of keeping all this pain med on board for 14 days because she seems fine. Keeping her calm is hard as she’s still young and her breed is super active.

Any advice is appreciated about the cone. The vet was hardcore on leaving the cone on for 14 days but my dog spiraled and is doing awesome in the suit. I read mixed reviews about cone/suit and just wanted to know if I can let her be donut free and just sleep in the suit.

3.5-year-old Pit Bull with persistent vomiting despite treatment – looking for thoughts

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some insight while I arrange another vet visit.

I have a 3.5-year-old male Pit Bull, 78 lbs, normally very healthy. His current pulse is around 84 bpm.

He started acting sick about 48 hours ago and began vomiting roughly 36 hours ago. We took him to our vet yesterday. They performed abdominal X-rays but didn't find anything significant and weren't able to give a definitive diagnosis.

He was sent home with instructions for a bland diet and was prescribed:

• An anti-nausea medication
• A medication to coat/protect his stomach lining
• An antibiotic

He received all of his medications this morning around 06:30. Throughout the day he actually seemed much better and was acting fairly normal. He even ate earlier today.

However, around 19:30 , he started vomiting again. Since then, he's been vomiting every 30–45 minutes. At this point it's mostly clear fluid with a small amount of white foam, and he's vomited up the food he ate earlier.

I'm planning to take him back to the vet, but my regular clinic doesn't open for another 11 hours.

The vet did not perform any bloodwork, and I'm starting to wonder if this could be gastroenteritis or if there are other differentials I should be considering. Has anyone seen a similar presentation or have thoughts on what could be going on? Are there any conditions that should be higher on my list of concerns given the persistent vomiting despite treatment?

My 7 year old Newfoundland dog throws up for a day or two every 6 weeks basically like clockwork. Sometimes his vomit is just yellow bile, usually if he's sick overnight, but during the day it is a combination of bile and undigested food. He gets no medications and nothing happens in the house or yard on this 6 week cycle. His treats and diet have not changed. He takes a daily joint supplement and is treated for fleas/ticks/worms on schedule (but does not fall on this 6 week cycle consistently).

There are only two things I have been able to narrow down to happening on this 6 week cycle:

1) We get close to the bottom of his bag of food. We keep it sealed in the bag it comes in and in an air tight bin, but it would be about 6-7 weeks since it was first opened. I'm wondering if the food is spoiled and upsetting his stomach. I am going to try buying the smaller size bag and replacing it more frequently to see if that helps. I'm wondering if we're just not getting through the bag fast enough before it spoils. He's been on this same food for years, and I've only noticed a problem in the last year, since we've moved to a new area. It is a much more humid climate, and I wonder if the food isn't keeping for as long because of that?

2) He goes for a professional bath/groom. He has gone for grooms every 6 weeks since he was a puppy, and as he's gotten older and slower, they definitely take more out of him. He requires a lot more encouragement to go, and the groomer says he seems much more tired and worn out with the process. Is it possible it could be anxiety related to his groom? He seems to really like the groomer, he runs up to greet him and is happy to see him, but he does take longer than our previous groomer (at our old home). It's close to 2 hours longer for his appointments now, and I worry it may just be too long for him to stand there being groomed.

I guess I'm just wondering if I'm on the right path with either of these things. He seems fine, eats/behaves like normal and has his usual energy level, but I feel terrible he has to go through that every month and a half.

My cat have gotten a runny nose and her eye was watery we went to the vet and she said it's probably form the tooth problem (tooth because only one was bad) which she has gotten antibiotics for she got better (also the tooth fell out) but today when I was petting her she started drooling like a lot and peed but she never had any issues with it I took her quickly to the floor where she laid down and started shaking real bad I held her so she wouldn't hurt herself and after it passed and she got better she started hissing and stuff then roaming house like she has never been here there's no emergency vet near me so I'm just waiting for any vet to open and I'm taking her asap but I just need to hear anything because I'm so scared for her right now it's better she's sleeping in my room but still

My cat has had severe dermatitis since around mid-2024. She mainly scratches:

• Her eyebrows and the area around her eyes
• Her chin and whisker area
• Occasionally, her abdomen

She scratches so intensely that she causes open wounds.

Over this time, she has tried several treatments, including:

• Prednisone
• Dermisolona
• Chlorphenamine
• Cleaning the affected areas with chlorhexidine
• Mupirocin
• An Elizabethan collar

Unfortunately, none of these treatments managed to control the problem.

In December 2025, she was evaluated by a feline dermatologist. She improved significantly while taking Medrol, but the itching returned after the medication was stopped.

In January 2026, she began treatment with:

• Pregabalin
• Medrol as a temporary bridge treatment

This was the treatment that worked best. She almost completely stopped scratching, and her skin lesions disappeared.

This is my first time posting because this is the first solo pet I've ever had without my family. I've had my female tabby (Dom. Shorthair) Pepper for 15 years, but she was estimated to be ~1 year at the shelter I adopted her from so she is about 16 years old. She's about 8 lb at the moment, but she usually runs from 9-11 lb.

We've recently noticed she's been losing weight so we had her re-checked and bloods done. Her thyroid reads on the higher side, but it's managed with Methimazole and we've kept a close eye on it. Kidneys are slightly elevated but not abnormal for her age. We've also had to address some behavioral issues because my younger cats are not nice to her (breaks my heart!). A few weeks ago we had her re-checked for weight loss and to monitor her thyroid. We were told that this office has done what it could and we should seek an internist. While we addressed the behavioral issues, we were researching our next steps. Unfortunately, in that span of time, Pepper has crashed a bit - lethargy, not eating consistently. We took her to the ER (which was also the internist referral) and we spent almost 8 hours there with not much of an update. We learned her liver is also now elevated to around 700. We were told to come back today for an ultrasound. She came back an entirely different cat - she is exhausted and slow and just wants to be in bed. I will provide these records as soon as they send over.

I can't decide if going back for the ultrasound will be harder on her stress-wise or if it's worth going in to see if there's something we can possibly help her with. I had a cat live to 23 when I was a kid so my standards might be off!

I have two 3.5 week old kittens and one of them passed already 2 weeks ago suddenly. I’m freaking out because I’ve called every vet within an hour from me and nobody can help me or get me in.

My male kitten is acting horrible compared to the other one. He will barely move, keeps sleeping, will not eat after 5 hrs. His paw pads are cold to the touch.

Gums bled in two small spots for about five minutes, not much blood. Front left tooth was wobbly when I took him to the vet yesterday. Now the tooth is gone. Have an anesthesia procedure scheduled 8/17 (soonest available) for closer examination and x-rays, and was supposed to be an extraction. Could we wait and see if any issues develop since the tooth is clean gone now? Would be great to save the thousands.

Clinical signs: had issues going to the bathroom (going back and forth and complaining) was puking more and more, one day puked 3 times in a row, and stopped eating and drinking. Brought him to the emergency, was told by the vet there that this much puking is NOT accurately attributable to stage 2 kidney disease and something else is wrong with his abdominal system. Tested his calcium levels and they were abnormally high, said could be cancer. Got tests done and they came up with ''its not cancer, its just his entire system being extremely inflammed and irritated due to some undiagnosed syndrom or food allergies''

Issue is that is exactly what they said about my previous cat and he turned out to have cancer & died from it. Kind of freaked out they are once again not identifying that it is cancer. Why would he randomly develop allergies or irritation syndroms at 17 years old???Link to scans

Duration: puking & issues with bathroom for months, but was misled by previous vet into thinking they were ''normal symptoms of kidney disease''

Our small dog we're fostering managed to consume a piece of corn cob. I caught him chewing on it and when I tried to stop him he ran off with it. It already looked quite a bit smaller due to his chewing on it. When I caught up to him he had consumed the rest of it. We induced vomiting 45 minutes later with hydrogen peroxide. All that came up was chewed up pieces of corn cob.

It's now been 18 hours and we've been monitoring him with no change in activity or apetite. He has been eating and drinking as per usual. No signs of discomfort or vomiting.

When will we know he's in the clear?

I have a 7 month old cat that was supposed to have rear leg amputation and spaying but her bloodwork came back as anemic. The vet said previously that she is healty but she is much smaller then her brothers which I found a bit concerning. She looks and appears healthy, just much smaller.

They gave her antibiotics and rescheduled for 3 weeks out. I'm questioning if we should go though with the amputation if the bloodwork comes back ok now though and I'm also not sure what to do for her if she can't have the surgery to give her the best qol possible and care for the leg.

She had swimmers leg on both rear legs and sadly one of them was too stiff for us to correct and it has grown backwards at the knee joint. She gets around very well, my concerns were mainly long term issues and pain due to deformity. The vet said it was our choice and it seemed like it was for the best initially to prevent issues in the future, but there have been so many complications getting the surgery to actually happen that I'm second guessing if maybe the universe is telling me something. Also if she is indeed anemic I dont think think surgery will be possible either way. The tripod group recommend I asked here for advice.

I have two five year old cats. They hate having their nails trimmed so I rarely do it. They are wonderful animals who rarely scratch the furniture. They use all the cat trees and corrugated cardboard I set out. One cat seems to “keep” her nails longer. The other keeps them shorter, but has never been very good at retracting them so still gets stuck on blankets or curtains sometimes.

I want to know if letting them maintain their nails is fine, or if I should be trimming them too. I can’t tell if it’s fear mongering or real advice. We just had our annual vet visit a couple months ago and I forgot to ask.
