I drive a Honda CRV sport 2003

Recently my car key has been having trouble going in and out but I was able to make do and still start my car just fine. I kept forgetting to get a new key made

Last night I went and everything was fine but now the key is stuck. It won’t turn to start the car or get out of the ignition.

I tried the turn steering wheel method and will try to get graphite lubricant. If that doesn’t work I’ll call a locksmith.

Is there anything anyone can think of to fix this issue?

Broken doorhandle spring but can’t get access to replace it! Tried everything with power tools, screwdrivers, wd40, rubber bands etc but can’t get anything going!

today i had to have a locksmith come and make me a new key for my 2002 Acura Rl and im like genuinely sick at how much i had to pay for the service, especially since i had to take a loan out.

first the guy came and took about 15 minutes to open the door and then took apart something in my glovebox and started making the key. hes quiet and doing something on his phone and seems confused as hes working on the key.

eventually he calls me over and explains that he was only able to make a key that can open the door and everything else, but that a code is needed to get it to actually turn the ignition. and that he cant do that because "only 10% of locksmiths can code that." he then tells me that everything would be 423, i paid him and then he left after telling me that a technician would be by shortly. i went into the car and found the glovebox locked and when i went to open it the little lock barrel thing came out with the key and i was unable to open my glovebox.

six hours pass before i call them again, and they tell me they thought the job was done and they would send someone out. that guy says they tried to contact me but I didn't answer (i hadn't received a call) and that he would fix it in 20-30 mins. i go down to check and he tells me that he had to make another key because they other one didn't have the correct chip, that the key from earlier is just to open the car and that it would be another 385 for the service. (he told me that it was because i "paid for a different service earlier") (he also very condescendingly explained the concept of a spare key to me, as if i hadn't ever thought about it before.) when i mentioned the glovebox he did something with the barrel and the keys and then seemed to fix it, shut the glovebox and just said "just dont use it". when i tried to open it after he left i found it locked fully cause it was shut before i could turn the lock off.

is this normal? i only got an itemized bill from the first guy, and i was just so done i didn't push back on the second guy saying "the receipt is good enough right?". I'm trying to figure out if i should be upset about being scammed or not.

I placed a review on the Google page and the owner called me and proceeded to bully me into taking the review down. he offered a 50 dollar refund and kept adding to it as i got angrier and angrier. i ended up taking 150 after he practically threatened to come to my apartment. he refused to believe that my problem was with his employees and not just the price.

I have this deadlock installed and I would like to switch to a smart lock. It's keyed on both sides and as you can hopefully see from the photos, on the inside there are two holes which are covered by a plate that slides away when the key is in the one o'clock and five o'clock positions. But when the holes are exposed there doesn't seem to be a mechanism inside the lock to unscrew - definitely no screw head and I think it doesn't take an Allen key either. It looks like two pins. How do I remove this lock!?

EDIT: please take a look inside the keyway very carefully and you’ll see that there is a piece of metal blocking, essentially laying across the keyway.

EDIT: I appreciate the free psychiatry consult, but I’m just looking for a professional opinion on that metal shaving sitting right inside the keyway and the worn metal exposing the Silver colored metal. I wasn’t really bragging about it, just giving a little context to the post in hopes of a more robust response from the Reddit community. I don’t think a brand new, factory powder coated lock should look like that, should it? for comparison, I posted a picture of the inside cylinder, which looks mint, with zero exposed metal. However, I am not a professional locksmith, and evidently not everyone here are either.

Experiencing chronic break ins by some psycho at a nearby homeless encampment. Just replaced this lock 3 days ago.

1. could he have simply taken a hi res photo of my key and simply had one made at a kiosk?
2. if those pictures are normal, which I really don’t see that being the case, what could have caused it?
3. how else could this person be getting in, besides a specialized tool. Do these quickset locks have a vulnerability that could explain this? my other door has a Schlage, which I know can be finessed open using a lishi tool, but I’ve been barricading it.
4. if this lock was manipulated, would there be obvious signs, like some sort of malfunction?

I'm at a complete loss here! I can't manually, remotely (using key fob), or using arm panel switch, lock the driver's side door of my 2004 KIA Sorento. No problems locking the front passenger, rear doors, or cargo hatch--only the driver's door with a problem! I'm the original owner, and this has never happened before. I know how to shop eBay for an OEM driver door actuator (if necessary) but I don't know what is needed to fix the problem! The timing is terrible: I'm semi-retired, in the area for cancer treatment, and money is tight. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Lock in the shared corridor that locked a door broke. Neighbour said that his key broke inside. I found the model is called CAM ZND-1A (88400), an old relic from 90-s.

I unscrewed the lock (Pic 1) to maybe get this piece out and because no one could actually open it from outside, making our corridor a locked trap if no one was at home.

When inserting a normal key it gets part way through with 1 cm left, then it can't go any further. (Pic 2).

There is an outer part of the lock cylinder entrance that spins freely, at the bottom of the cylinder there's metal part that (I think) prevents inserting the key further. (Pic 3)

What can I try to do other than replacing the cylinder and making new sets of keys?

We have a 2004 Honda Accord that we replaced the ignition on. After replacing the ignition we had a locksmith come out to program it. He was here for an hour and tried several different machines and couldn’t get it to program. It turns over but won’t start. It’s an issue with the immobilizer most likely. Does anyone know how to fix this issue or bypass the immobilizer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I want to install an electronic deadbolt on my garage door. The door has window panes. Looking for some advice on my three options:

1) Install above the doorknob. This would be the natural and comfortable height, but seems too close to the glass. Am I correct?

2) Install below the doorknob. Easiest option but may make reaching the keypad awkward as it would only be ~30 inches off the ground.

3)Instal where the doorknob currently is located and move the doorknob down.

Hello! I moved into my house about 1.5 years ago, when I bought the house the previous owner had just installed a 3-point locking system (first picture) and I do love it. To utilize the 3-point lock all I have to do is lift the handle upwards to lock the upper and lower lock. However, the biggest issue I have is the lock/handle/keypad system. I’m having to replace the batteries for this system about once a month and when I go to unlock the door I have to enter my code in 3-5 times before it actually unlocks. I’m over it and was wondering what are my options to replace the keypad/handle system?

Title basically says it all. Broke the key off trying to open up an old gas cap the wasn't wanting to budge. Got it out of the keyway and it is in 3 pieces... Any possibility of getting it remade?

We are closing on a house in Jax next week. I haven't had a chance to see what the brand of all the locks are yet, but I am making my "things to do first" list for move in.

There's a front door, a door to the house from the garage, a door from the garage to the backyard, and two French doors with additional key only deadbolts installed higher on the doors.

If it's possible, should I have them all rekeyed the same, or should I do different key patterns for the front and back?

It's a remote purchase, so it's possible they will be upgraded in the future, but if they are decent locks, we might keep them.

I have no idea what to do with them, anybody knows what I should do with them. I’m desperate to find a use for them.

so my dad hid a key from me and id have my own room by now if it were opened but my dad passed away i have no way of getting one to open it and my mom said something about it probably needs 18r and that it might be replaceable at a shop but i dont know what type is it and what to do can yall help me with sending a link or a name of it cause i cant find it anywhere please (my dads brother broke the other key and he’s not willing to give it back hes ghosting us rn)

I have a 2023 Colorado trail boss and was wondering if anyone new of a latch you can install to make the glovebox lock like the some of the Silverados have. I briefly looked but couldn’t find anything that said it would fit the truck?
