Hi!

I [F20] have felt stuck for a long time thinking about what to do with my life. I've always wanted to be a mortician, and that is definitely still a long-term goal for me. Lately , though, I've had the urge to try my hand at teaching children.

I love kids, I think they are so funny, and I think it's a job that would allow me structure and proper routine (I have autism). I also think it would be nice because the schedule is flexible; I can teach during the school year, have the weekends to myself, and spend the summer trying out more casual jobs.

I have no doubts about my capability, at most, I have an unconventional look, but in my experience, children don't care lol. This might sound odd, but I think I feel less judged when I'm around children. They tend not to treat me weirdly like adults do when they figure out something is different about me.

My issue is that I don't know what specifically I WANT to teach, and I also don't know what the process looks like.

I LOVE science, art, and just general knowledge. I was thinking of teaching kindergarten? I'm very articulate and good at explaining things, I get overwhelmed, but I'm good about keeping it to myself.

I'm not sure how to go about the process? I would rather do schooling online than go in person because I don't have a car right now. But I can't afford it, and I don't know if I need a bachelor's degree or what?!

I was hoping I could just do schooling for a year or two online and then pass a certification or something. I will obviously have to take out student loans, and I don't know how to do that either. My parents are neglectful to put it simply, I know nothing.

Please help me out!!

I turn 17 in a few days and while I have a family that loves me and says they will pay for my college and I can stay with them while I go to school, I have no desire for that. I’m living in central Arkansas and I wouldn’t mind staying in the area but i also wouldn’t mind getting away a few miles to where I won’t run into them. I really just need a small place to live either that a freshly 18 year old can put a reasonable down payment on and finance or rent a place for amount that is livable. Any areas that fit that description. (I’m currently in Conway)
