I don't usually support telling people when there is a checkpoint. But the rensselaer cops and state police have a checkpoint set up at the end of the bridge as you get to rensselaer. Thought it was weird for a Wednesday night, but then i realized its because tonight at the plaza is Ghostface Killah... watch out for this racist operation

Looking for indoor basketball courts to get some practice in with my little nephew, any recommendations?
We will be driving from Columbia / Greene county. I’m sure I’ll have to pay for some type of membership but, I’m fine with it as long as we can get some work in.

Hola everyone! I recently moved to Albany and have been getting to know the local business community
I've spent the last 15+ years building web applications for startups, small businesses and communities when I was in the Bay Area and Brooklyn; I originally went to art school and love working with creatives, and prefer to work with locals instead of being all remote
There's a couple meetups and events I went to, and curious if there are more, or if there's interest to get together
If anyone here owns a business needs help with their online presence, feel free to send me a message. Happy to chat and help out if it is something simple or work in your budget. I'm also on the rave scene, doing photography or harm reduction and happy to connect about that

Just trying to find out if one ER is preferable to another or they are all the same.
It seems to be the best experiences are reported at Samaritan on Northern Blvd, the worst at Ellis.
What say you?
I have two estimates, from two reputable HVAC installers, to replace central AC in my small (800sf) home. Both are 2-ton based models (14 SEER) - one is Armstrong Air (a Lennox brand) and the other is Carrier Comfort. Carrier seems to dominate the market here, but Armstrong Air is said to be cheaper to repair and is rated "most reliable" by Consumer Reports.
Looking for feedback from local home owners who have either a Carrier or Armstrong system (re: general reliability, ease of obtaining parts and/or service expertise in local market, noise level and anything else you care to share). TIA!

Hi! I have never been to Albany, and I will be traveling roughly 3-4 hours for a medical appointment. I’m looking for any neat things to check out while I’m there for the day.
Any thrift stores, alt shops, cafes, odd shops are appreciated !

Saw this very recently posted on NextDoor without any evidence or links. Anyone know if this is actually a thing?

Have some old pieces I’d like to get rid of and sell. Was wondering if anyone had any insight on where to sell pieces?
Thanks 🌷

I get pretty bored over the weekends and could use a job to give me some structure and get me out of bed early.
I could also use the extra money to save.
I was thinking construction, restaurant work, or anything really!

Anyone know when this is supposed to open? It’s been like this for awhile now

Best private car services or drivers in Albany area? For traveling around within 1-2 hours, including leisure activities (state parks, sightseeing). Don't need a fancy vehicle, just safe and relatively affordable. I saw the app dryver and some nationwide services, but wonder if there is a local business.

I’m seeing someone who has celiac and I want to take them out to dinner somewhere but not really sure what the gluten free spots are in the capital region

I’m looking for recommendations in the Capital Region based on personal experiences for the best elementary schools, districts, and programs for autistic kids with special needs. I’m not happy with our current district and I’m looking to move our son asap.
Thank you for your help and input!

“Four at Forty-Five Degrees,” part of the Empire State Plaza Art Collection and currently on loan to the New York State Museum, shows how Calder used open, airy forms to shape space rather than fill it.
In the 1960s, Calder started working with massive steel sheets, creating large-scale works that felt both architectural and playful. His “Triangles and Arches” #AtThePlaza is a perfect example — its bold shapes echo the nearby Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, blending art and environment in a way only Calder could.
Today, we celebrate his legacy and the joy, movement, and imagination his work inspires. Look up, stay grounded, and let creativity move you. 💫
